Markers of oocyte Quality to Enhance Human IVF outcomes: A Bibliographic Review

The markers of oocyte quality have remained a major controversy in the field of embryology due to the subjectivity of the different methods of oocyte assessment. Various scholars use oocyte quality and oocyte competence interchangeably. oocyte quality can be defined as the overall health of an oocyte whereas oocyte competence refers to the ability of an oocyte to be fertilized and develop into a healthy embryo. Diminished oocyte quality is believed to be a result of alterations in oocyte growth and maturation processes that stem from several pelvic and systemic factors before and after oocyte retrieval. In this review, we focus on the morphological and nonmorphological markers of oocyte quality. Strict restrictions that limit the number of oocytes fertilized in various countries have triggered researchers around the world to come up with the most appropriate and noninvasive markers that enhance oocyte selection and optimize IVF outcomes. PubMed, Google Scholar, and the Cochrane Library were used to search for peer-reviewed, original articles about oocyte quality markers. The review was written in accordance with the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) guidelines. Morphological markers are commonly used, but they are subjective, and no single marker can be used exclusively to predict oocyte competence and subsequent embryonic development potential. Furthermore, transcriptomics of differentially expressed genes in cumulus cells and assessment of metabolomics and other contents of follicular fluid have shown greater precision. However, their specificity to the different quality determinants needs further research.

Geospatial Coronavirus Vulnerability Regression Modelling for Malawi Based on Cumulative Spatial Data from April 2020 to May 2021

In the past two to three years, the world has been heavily affected by the infectious coronavirus disease and Malawi has not been spared due to its interconnection with neighboring countries. There is no management tool to identify and model the vulnerabilities of Malawi’s districts in prioritizing health services as far as coronavirus prevalence and other infectious diseases are concerned. The aim of this study was to model coronavirus vulnerability in all districts in Malawi using Geographic Information System (GIS) to monitor the disease’s cumulative prevalence over the severely affected period between 2020 and 2021. To achieve this, four parameters associated with coronavirus prevalence, including population density, percentage of older people, temperature, and humidity, were prepared in a GIS environment and used in the modelling process. A multiscale geographically weighted regression (MGWR) model was used to model and determine the vulnerability of coronavirus in Malawi. In the MGWR modelling, the Fixed Spatial Kernel was used following a Gaussian distribution model type. The Results indicated that population density and older people (age greater than 60 years) have a more significant impact on coronavirus prevalence in Malawi. The modelling further shows that Malawi, between April 2020 and May 2021, Lilongwe, Blantyre and Thyolo were more vulnerable to coronavirus than other districts. This research has shown that spatial variability of Covid-19 cases using MGWR has the potential of providing useful insights to policymakers for targeted interventions that could otherwise not be possible to detect using non-geovisualization techniques.

The identification of jets originating from quarks and gluons,often referred to as quark/gluon tagging,plays an important role in various analyses performed at the Large Hadron Collider,as Standard Model measurements and searches for new particles decaying to quarks often rely on suppressing a large gluon-induced background.This paper describes the measurement of the efficiencies of quark/gluon taggers developed within the ATLAS Collaboration,using √s=13 TeV proton–proton collision data with an integrated luminosity of 140 fb^(-1) collected by the ATLAS experiment.Two taggers with high performances in rejecting jets from gluon over jets from quarks are studied:one tagger is based on requirements on the number of inner-detector tracks associated with the jet,and the other combines several jet substructure observables using a boosted decision tree.A method is established to determine the quark/gluon fraction in data,by using quark/gluon-enriched subsamples defined by the jet pseudorapidity.Differences in tagging efficiency between data and simulation are provided for jets with transverse momentum between 500 GeV and 2 TeV and for multiple tagger working points.

Simulation investigation of tractive energy conservation for a cornering rear-wheel-independent-drive electric vehicle through torque vectoring

Although electric vehicle fully exhibits its comparative merits of energy conservation and environmental friendliness, further improvement of its traction energy efficiency lacks comprehensive investigations in the past. In this paper, the effect of the torque vectoring on traction energy conservation during cornering for a rear-wheel-independent-drive electric vehicle is investigated.Firstly, turning resistance coefficient and energy conservation mechanism of torque vectoring are derived from the single track dynamic model. Next, an optimal torque vectoring control strategy based on genetic algorithm is proposed, with the consideration of the influence of the operation-point change of the in-wheel motors, to find out the best torque vectoring ratio offline. Finally,various simulation tests are conducted to validate the energy conservation effect after Simulink modelling. The results verify that though the optimization of the operating region of the motors is the main part for tractive energy conservation, the contribution of torque vectoring itself can reach up to 1.7% in some typical cases.

development of a Biological Filter Utilizing organic Growth Media for Wastewater Treatment and Nitrogen oxidation

Loss of ammonia-nitrogen to volatilization and the over application of phosphorus in agricultural wastewaters has led to excess phosphorus build up in topsoil and in surface waters. In order to increase the usable amount nitrogen in agricultural wastewaters, the wastewaters underwent a nitrogen treatment process consisting of a hanging basket biological filter. The filters utilized never before used biological growth media, rice hulls, to assist in the formation of a mature biofilms as the oxidation of ammonia to nitrate. The filter design was used on a lab scale that treated both artificial wastewater and dairy parlor wastewater treated with a lime precipitation step for phosphorus treatment. The filters were tested to see if bio-fouling occurred in the filter media bed under high nitrogen loading, if the rice hulls could withstand an extended time frame as bacterial growth media, and to see if the oxidation of ammonia to nitrate would occur. A 50% reduction in ammonia occurred between 30 and 48 hrs in each trial with eventual nitrite oxidation reported in the final two trials. Statistical analysis preformed determined that the ammonia removal rates at the beginning of both the synthetic wastewater and dairy parlor wastewater ten-day tests were statistically similar, but varied toward the end of the trials.

装备差动助力转向(DDAS)系统的汽车匹配主动前轮转向(AFS)系统时,两者会相互干扰。DDAS助力时引入的横摆力偶矩会影响车辆的转向特性,反之,AFS的介入会导致转向盘转矩突变。为此,本文提出了一种差动协同主动转向(DDCAS)系统。首先,介绍了DDCAS系统的结构和动力学模型;然后,分别制定了DDAS和AFS的控制策略,分析了两系统的干扰机理,并制定了DDCAS控制策略。最后,在Matlab/Simulink与CarSim联合仿真平台上进行了典型工况的仿真分析,验证了本文控制策略的有效性。

本文中提出一种新型具备转矩定向分配功能差速器的集中式电驱动桥系统。该集中驱动系统可以在不改变总驱动转矩的条件下,类似分布式驱动方式实现驱动转矩在左右轮间的任意分配,从而产生改变车辆横摆动力学的直接横摆力偶矩。首先,分析了转矩定向分配差速器结构特点及其工作原理;其次,利用键合图理论建立了其动力学模型,并仿真分析了其动态响应特性;然后,设计了转矩响应控制系统以改善该差速器的动态性能;最后,嵌入整车模型进行了联合仿真。结果表明,装备该差速器的车辆可任意分配左右轮驱动转矩,并有效改善车辆操控特性。

Blockchains have been around for more than ten years,and since 2015,a plethora of systems have been launched to target more flexible use cases.More recently,several enterprise blockchain systems,such as Consensys Quorum and Hyperledger Fabric,have been launched to make blockchain simpler to apply in complex organizational configurations.In this paper,we identify a specific department of defense use case,extrapolate requirements,and perform a thorough assessment of the different layers of the blockchain stack to identify the existing state of the art and undertake a gap analysis of the technology for this context.We describe a platform that meets many of these challenges and show how we architected,designed,and implemented a solution for this use case for deployment at NAVAIR.This solution connects transactions from two separate blockchain systems,Consensys Quorum and Hyperledger Fabric,by using a graph-based approach that preserves privacy while enabling full transparency across the military and supplier networks.
