For calculation of cross sections for collisional transitions between rotational levels in a molecule,a computer code,MOLSCAT is *** the transitions between rotational levels in H_2 CS due to collisions with He atom,we have calculated cross sections under the CS approximation,for example,for total energy 11 cm^(-1).The calculations have been done for the single energy 11 cm"1 and for ten *** have found that the cross sections for the single energy 11 cm^(-1),differ from those in the first seven combinations,but are in agreement with those in the last three *** reason for the difference in the results appears that the MOLSCAT uses the intermediate data of calculations for one energy,in the calculations for other *** agreement with the last three combinations may be understood that when the energy of combination is in the decreasing trend,the cross sections for the first(common)energy are *** may be suggested to run the MOLSCAT for a single energy at a time.

A comparative study was carried out on the load-dependent indentation behavior with respect to hardness and induced cracks ofβ-SiAlON andα-silicon carbide *** is observed that silicon carbide(SiC)exhibits lower transition load,early cracking and severely crushed indentation sites,whereasβ-SiAlON shows higher transition load and damage-free indentation zone even at the maximum applied load(294.19 N).Crack density is higher forα-SiC with comparison toβ-SiAlON at each *** exhibits both main and secondary radial types of cracking from low indentation load(0.98 N).Cracks are often associated with branching at higher load(>9.80 N)forα-SiC.β-SiAlON exhibits cracks which are mainly radial types initiated at 4.90 N *** opposing behaviors ofβ-SiAlON andα-SiC are attributed to their difference in hardness,toughness,and brittleness *** brittleness ofα-SiC results in early and severe cracking around its indentations.β-SiAlON shows less cracking due to its lower brittleness and higher *** increased size of indentation-induced cracks ofα-SiC is higher than that ofβ-SiAlON due to the rapid crack propagation inα-SiC with transgranular fracture behavior.

Population I Cepheids and understanding star formation history of the Small Magellanic Cloud

In this paper, we study the age and spatial distributions of Cepheids in the Small Magellanic Cloud （SMC） as a function of their ages using data from the OGLE III photometric catalogue. A period - age relation derived for Classical Cepheids in the Large Magellanic Cloud （LMC） has been used to find the ages of Cepheids. The age distribution of the SMC Classical Cepheids is found to have a peak at log（Age）： 8.40 ± 0.10 which suggests that a major star formation event might have occurred in the SMC about 250 4- 50 Myr ago. It is believed that this star forming burst had been triggered by close interactions of the SMC with the LMC and/or the Milky Way. A comparison of the observed spatial distributions of the Cepheids and open star clusters has also been carried out to study the star formation scenario in the SMC.

Two-wheeler vehicles are an important mode of transportation in developing countries. However, the emissions from two-wheeler vehicles are significant. Urban two-wheeler vehicles with gasoline-fueled engines produce NOx and particulate matter emissions that affect urban air quality. During traffic light stops and programmed stops, for instance, pollutants are emitted and are dangerous to human health. In this experimental study, two-wheeler vehicles with different makes, technologies and engine capacities were tested for exhaust emissions including gravimetric and online measurements at different engine speeds and a no load condition at a simulated traffic junction. Gravimetric measurements were performed by collecting the particulate mass （at two engine speeds： 1500 and 2500 rpm） from a diluted engine-out exhaust on quartz filter paper. Next, these collected particulates were used to determine the presence of metals, as well as the benzene soluble organic fraction （BSOF）. The total particulate mass, BSOF and trace elements were slightly higher at a higher engine speed （2500 rpm）. Online measurements were performed by sampling the engine exhaust （at four engine speeds： 1500, 2000, 2500, and 3000rpm） and using online instruments to determine the particle number and size distribution, the particle-bound polyaromatic hydrocarbons （PAHs）, the gaseous emissions and the smoke opacity. Engines with higher cubic capacity emitted a higher concentration of nano-particles. The particle-bound PAH concentration increased as the engine speed increased, but this concentration was notably low for the highest engine speed tested （3000 rpm）. The regulated gaseous emissions increased as the engine speed increased for all vehicles.

Morpho-tectonic study plays an important role in deciphering the effects of tectonic activity in the geomorphic evolution of the drainage *** watershed forms one of the major watersheds of the intermontane Karewa Basin of Kashmir *** Karewa sediments are characterized by glacio-fluvio-lacustrine deposits capped by the aeolian *** geomorphic,morphometric and lithostratigraphic studies of these cap deposits have been carried out to elucidate the effect of tectonics on the geomorphic evolution of Romushi *** mapping was carried out using GPS measurements,DEM at 30m resolution,Topographic Position Index(TPI) model,topographic maps,LANDSAT TM Imagery and field *** and morphotectonic analyses in GIS environment were used to calculate various geomorphic indices(Mountain Front Sinuosity Index,Bifurcation Ratio,Asymmetry Factor,River Profile,etc).These indices reveal that the tectonic uplift observed in the region due to Himalayan orogeny coupled with mass movement and aeolian deposition have dominated the landscape evolution of intermontane Karewa Basin of Kashmir throughout the Late Quaternary *** data from lithostratigraphic measurements were analyzed to understand the geomorphic evolution of intermontane Karewa *** data revealed that the basin has experienced differential uplift and erosion rates from time to time in the geological *** was corroborated by the results from the morphometric and morphotectonic analysis.

Background:The ability to produce seeds when pollinators or potential mates are scarce is one of the principal advantages of self-pollination in flowering ***,the role of pollinators mediating self-pollination to ensure seed set when pollen or potential mates are limited has received less *** study examined the reproductive consequences and involvement of pollinators in assuring seed set in an isolated tree of Magnolia grandiflora,a predominantly outcrossing ***:We tested various aspects of reproduction such as flower density,floral rewards,stigma receptivity,pollinator abundance and behaviour,fruit set and seed set,in two successive reproductive years(2015-2016).Results:Flowers of *** possess a suite of traits facilitating pollinator-mediated self-pollination(PMS),although the chances of autonomous self-pollination are reduced due to herkogamy,spatial separation of anther and *** mean pollen production/flower was 5,152,289±285,094 with a pollen-to-ovule ratio of 39430±*** found a significant positive correlation between number of visits and seed production for bees(r=0.5099,p=0.0007)and beetles(r=0.7159,p=0.00001),indicating these are effective at *** was a significant negative correlation for thrips(r=-0.3206,p=0.044)and no correlation for flies or *** percent fruit set was 100%and the seed set per ovule ranged between 19 and 20%.Conclusions:PMS will guarantee reproductive assurance and mitigate the effect of reduced mates or pollen limitation which is expected to increase the fecundity and establishment of individual trees in geographically isolated locations.
