Madness has attracted and frightened for centuries,and talking about this means discussing how this diversity was built and managed in different social contexts and historical periods.Not all societies have had,and still have,the same relationship with madness.It is only with the affirmation of the Modern State,and of Capitalism,that the idea of“normality”indispensable to be able to conceive diversity as something dangerously distant and different from the norm takes over.In our post-modern society,people with mental illness in Italy can resort to specialists and social-health services.But the heterogeneous answers given after the approval of law 180 appear to be increasingly diversified.In this research,much attention will be paid to how the social and health services,located in different areas of Italy(Messina,Rome,Trento)face the current growing risk of social,housing and economic isolation of these fragile subjects.The aim of the research is to explore the possibility of a new relationship between the social-health service and the local community.On the one hand,research investigates what the contribution of the services could be.On the other what the spaces of protagonism and participation of the community could be in inclusion process account.In order to better understand the differences between these two dimensions,a qualitative research approach was chosen through the conduct of in-depth interviews.In this way it was possible to investigate:(1)the partial representations characteristic of the single individual,family members,operators and stackholders in general;(2)the services around the topic dealt with is articulated.From the first results of the research it emerges that the territory can no longer be considered as an abstract entity,but becomes the social space within which the construction of a new community welfare can and must take place.

This paper describes the BAPAMAN（Binary Actuated Parallel MANipulator） series of parallel manipulators that has been conceived at Laboratory of Robotics and Mechatronics（LARM）. Basic common characteristics of BAPAMAN series are described. In particular, it is outlined the use of a reduced number of active degrees of freedom, the use of design solutions with flexural joints and Shape Memory Alloy（SMA） actuators for achieving miniaturization, cost reduction and easy operation features. Given the peculiarities of BAPAMAN architecture, specific experimental tests have been proposed and carried out with the aim to validate the proposed design and to evaluate the practical operation performance and the characteristics of a built prototype, in particular, in terms of operation and workspace characteristics.

BACKGROUND Myositis ossificans(MO)is an uncommon disorder characterized by heterotopic ossification within soft tissues.Only a few cases of intra-abdominal MO(IMO)have been described in the literature.Histology could be difficult to understand and a wrong diagnosis could lead to an improper cure.CASE SUMMARY We herein report the case of IMO in a healthy 69-year-old man.The patient presented with an abdominal mass in the left lower quadrant.A computed tomography scan showed an inhomogeneous mass with multiple calcifications.The patient underwent radical excision of the mass.Histopathological findings were compatible with MO.Five months later the patient showed a recurrence causing hemorrhagic shock due to intractable intralesional bleeding.The patients eventually died within three months since recurrence.CONCLUSION The case described could be classified as post-traumatic MO that developed close to the previously fractured iliac bone.The subsequent surgical procedure was ineffective and the disease rapidly recurred.The misleading intraoperative diagnosis led to improper surgical treatment with a dramatic evolution.

This editorial,comments on the article by Spartalis et al published in the recent issue of the World Journal of Cardiology.We here provide an outlook on potential ethical concerns related to the future application of gene therapy in the field of inherited arrhythmias.As monogenic diseases with no or few therapeutic options available through standard care,inherited arrhythmias are ideal candidates to gene therapy in their treatment.Patients with inherited arrhythmias typically have a poor quality of life,especially young people engaged in agonistic sports.While genome editing for treatment of inherited arrhythmias still has theoretical application,advances in CRISPR/Cas9 technology now allows the generation of knock-in animal models of the disease.However,clinical translation is somehow expected soon and this make consistent discussing about ethical concerns related to gene editing in inherited arrhythmias.Genomic off-target activity is a known technical issue,but its relationship with ethnical and individual genetical diversity raises concerns about an equitable accessibility.Meanwhile,the costeffectiveness may further limit an equal distribution of gene therapies.The economic burden of gene therapies on healthcare systems is is increasingly recognized as a pressing concern.A growing body of studies are reporting uncertainty in payback periods with intuitive short-term effects for insurance-based healthcare systems,but potential concerns for universal healthcare systems in the long term as well.Altogether,those aspects strongly indicate a need of regulatory entities to manage those issues.

The relationships between lymphomas and their microenvironment appear to follow 3 major patterns:(1)an independent pattern;(2)a dependent pattern on deregulated interactions;and(3)a dependent pattern on regulated coexistence.Typical examples of the third pattern are hepatitis C virus(HCV)-associated marginal zone lymphomas(MZLs)and mucosa-associated lymphoid tissue lymphomas.In these lymphomas,a regulated coexistence of the malignant cells and the microenvironmental factors usually occurs.At least initially,however,tumor development and cell growth largely depend on external signals from the microenvironment,such as viral antigens,cytokines,and cell-cell interactions.The association between HCV infection and B-cell lymphomas is not completely defined,although this association has been demonstrated by epidemiological studies.MZL and diffuse large B-cell lymphoma are the histotypes most frequently associated with HCV infection.Many mechanisms have been proposed for explaining HCV-induced lymphomagenesis;antigenic stimulation by HCV seems to be fundamental in establishing B-cell expansion as observed in mixed cryoglobulinemia and in B-cell lymphomas.Recently,antiviral treatment has been proved to be effective in the treatment of HCV-associated indolent lymphomas.Importantly,clinically responses were linked to the eradication of the HCV-RNA,providing a strong argument in favor of a causative link between HCV and lymphoproliferation.

Lung cancer is an exceedingly malignant tumor reported as having the highest morbidity and mortality of any cancer worldwide,thus posing a great threat to global health.Despite the growing demand for precision medicine,current methods for early clinical detection,treatment and prognosis monitoring in lung cancer are hampered by certain bottlenecks.Studies have found that during the formation and development of a tumor,molecular substances carrying tumor-related genetic information can be released into body fluids.Liquid biopsy(LB),a method for detecting these tumor-related markers in body fluids,maybe a way to make progress in these bottlenecks.In recent years,LB technology has undergone rapid advancements.Therefore,this review will provide information on technical updates to LB and its potential clinical applications,evaluate its effectiveness for specific applications,discuss the existing limitations of LB,and present a look forward to possible future clinical applications.Specifically,this paper will introduce technical updates from the prospectives of engineering breakthroughs in the detection of membrane-based LB biomarkers and other improvements in sequencing technology.Additionally,it will summarize the latest applications of liquid biopsy for the early detection,diagnosis,treatment,and prognosis of lung cancer.We will present the interconnectedness of clinical and laboratory issues and the interplay of technology and application in LB today.

A feasibility study on the design and walking operation of a biped locomotor via dynamic simulation

A feasibility study on the mechanical design and walking operation of a Cassino biped locomotor is presented in this paper. The biped locomotor consists of two identical 3 degrees-of-freedom tripod leg mechanisms with a parallel manipulator architecture. Planning of the biped walking gait is performed by coordinating the motions of the two leg mechanisms and waist. A three- dimensional model is elaborated in SolidWorks environ- ment in order to characterize a feasible mechanical design. Dynamic simulation is carried out in MSC.ADAMS environment with the aims of characterizing and evaluat- ing the dynamic walking design. Simulation results performance of the proposed show that the proposed biped locomotor with proper input motions of linear actuators performs practical and feasible walking on fiat surfaces with limited actuation and reaction forces between its feet and the ground. A preliminary prototype of the biped locomotor is built for the purpose of evaluating the operation performance of the biped walking gait of the proposed locomotor.

Experimental Characterization of Operation of a Waist-Trunk System with Parallel Manipulators

An extensive research activity has been focused on the upper and lower limbs of humanoid robots. However, due to mechanical design difficulties and complex control of multi-body system, the torso of humanoid robot is somehow a neglected or simplified design part. In this paper, operation performance of a new waist-trunk system as torso for humanoid robots is presented through results of lab experimental tests. The proposed waist-trunk system is composed of two 3 DOFs （degrees of freedom） parallel manipulators, which are connected in a serial chain architecture. A prototype is built by using two prototypes of CaPaMan （Cassino Parallel Manipulator）, which are convenient stiff architectures with easy-operation characteristics. Experimental tests are carried out with the aims to imitate lateral-bending and transverse-rotation movements of human torso. Operation performances like displacements, accelerations, and actuation torque are measured for a performance evaluation and design characterization of the used manipulator solution imitating human torso. Experimental test results are illustrated and discussed to show the practical operation feasibility of the proposed architecture and the operation characteristics of the built prototype.
