Plant peroxisomes have the capacity to gen erate different reactive oxygen and nitrogen species(ROS and RNS),such as H2O2,superoxide radical(O2^·-),nitric oxide and peroxynitrite(ONOO^-).These organelles have an active nitrooxidative metabolism which can be exacerbated by adverse stress *** sulfide(H2S)is a new signaling gasotransmitter which can mediate the posttranslational modification(PTM)*** used Arabidopsis thaliana transgenic seedlings expressing cyan fluorescent protein(CFP)fused to a canonical peroxisome targeting signal 1(PTS1)to visualize peroxisomes in living cells,as well as a specific fluorescent probe which showed that peroxisomes contain H2S.H2S was also detected in chloroplasts under glyphosate-induced oxidative stress *** enzyme activities,including catalase,photorespiratory H2O2-generating glycolate oxidase(GOX)and hydroxypyruvate reductase(HPR),were assayed in vitro with a H2S *** line with the persulfidation of this enzyme,catalase activity declined significantly in the presence of the H2S *** corroborate the inhibitory effect of H2S on catalase activity,we also assayed pure catalase from bovine liver and pepper fruit-enriched samples,in which catalase activity was *** together,these data provide evidenee of the presence of H2S in plant peroxisomes which appears to regulate catalase activity and,consequently,the peroxisomal H2O2 metabolism.

The aim of this work was to evaluate arbuscular mycorrhizal(AM)fungi as soil indicators and the mycorrhization of native and exotic tree species planted in the Acaraúbasin,a transition area from the coast to the Brazilian semiarid *** with 6-year-old trees of four native and three non-native species as well as one non-forested area were evaluated in terms of the diversity of AM fungi in the mycorrhizosphere and the root colonization by AM and ectomycorrhizal(EcM)***-four AM fungi were identified;Claroideoglomus etunicatum,Glomus sinuosum,Paraglomus albidum,Acaulospora laevis,and Acaulospora brasiliensis were abundant in the forest ***,dominance,evenness and richness indices of AM fungi were higher in plots with native *** root samples were colonized by AM fungi and only A nadenanthera colubrina,Acacia mangium,Casuarina equisetifolia and Eucalyptus urophylla formed associations with EcM *** morphotypes served as soil indicators for coverings with the native species Astronium fraxinifolium and Colubrina *** species may favor the proliferation of rarer AM *** fungi–plant relationships may be important in the management of forest systems,and the evidence with mycorrhizal associations allows the inclusion of Brazilian species in tropical reforestation.

AIM：To report foveal thickness reduction in eyes with resolution of macular edema and recovery of a foveal depression after one-year of anti-vascular endothelial growth factor（anti-VEGF） therapy for center-involving diabetic macular edema（DME）.METHODS：Foveal thickness was assessed with optical coherence tomography to determine the central subfield foveal thickness（CSFT） and macular volume in 42 eyes with DME（CSFT〉275 μm）. Evaluations also included measurement of best-corrected visual acuity（BCVA）, and were performed at baseline, and upon foveal depression recovery achieved after 12 monthly intravitreal injections of either 1.5 mg/0.06 mL bevacizumab（n=21） or 0.5 mg/0.05 mL ranibizumab（n=21）. Data was compared to 42 eyes of normally sighted, non-diabetic, healthy individuals with similar age, gender and race ***：Mean baseline BCVA was 0.59±0.04 and 0.32± 0.03 log MAR（P〈0.001） after treatment and resolution of DME, with all, but 3 eyes, showing BCVA improvement. Mean CSFT before treatment was 422.0±20.0 μm, and after treatment, decreased to 241.6±4.6 μm（P〈0.001）, which is significantly thinner than CSFT found in control subjects（272.0±3.4 μm; P〈0.001）. Moreover, in 33/42 DM eyes（79%）, CSTF was thinner than the matched control eye. Macular volume showed comparable results, but with lower differences between groups（control：8.5±0.4 mm^3; DME：8.2±1.0 mm^3; P=0.0267）.CONCLUSION：DME eyes show significantly lower foveal thickness than matched controls after DME resolution achieved with one-year anti-VEGF therapy. Further investigation into the reasonsfor this presumable retinal atrophy using fluorescein angiography and functional parameters as well as establishing possible predictors is warranted. This finding should be considered during the treatment of DME.

When data privacy is imposed as a necessity,Federated learning(FL)emerges as a relevant artificial intelligence field for developing machine learning(ML)models in a distributed and decentralized *** allows ML models to be trained on local devices without any need for centralized data transfer,thereby reducing both the exposure of sensitive data and the possibility of data interception by malicious third *** paradigm has gained momentum in the last few years,spurred by the plethora of real-world applications that have leveraged its ability to improve the efficiency of distributed learning and to accommodate numerous participants with their data *** virtue of FL,models can be learned from all such distributed data sources while preserving data *** aim of this paper is to provide a practical tutorial on FL,including a short methodology and a systematic analysis of existing software ***,our tutorial provides exemplary cases of study from three complementary perspectives:i)Foundations of FL,describing the main components of FL,from key elements to FL categories;ii)Implementation guidelines and exemplary cases of study,by systematically examining the functionalities provided by existing software frameworks for FL deployment,devising a methodology to design a FL scenario,and providing exemplary cases of study with source code for different ML approaches;and iii)Trends,shortly reviewing a non-exhaustive list of research directions that are under active investigation in the current FL *** ultimate purpose of this work is to establish itself as a referential work for researchers,developers,and data scientists willing to explore the capabilities of FL in practical applications.

Neurological research in China has seen remarkable progress over the last decade,and the number of submissions from Chinese investigators to international medical journals,including those to The Lancet Neurology,keeps ***,this substantial increase in submissions has not led to a parallel increase in the number of publications from Chinese *** do Chinese authors need to do to ensure that their papers are selected for and succeed in peer review?Robust methodology and rigorous data collection and analysis characterise the studies that will change clinical practice or thinking about neurology-these are the studies that we look for when selecting papers for peer ***,even if a study is well-performed and properly analysed,researchers face many hurdles on the path to publishing their findings in a high-impact medical journal,and these obstacles can prove to be insurmountable if the study report is inadequate or difficult to *** hope is that,as Chinese investigators become more familiar with the evaluation criteria used by the editors of The Lancet Neurology to select submissions for peer review and with the procedures we follow throughout the peer review process,we will start to see an increase in the number of highquality publications from *** Lancet journals adhere to reporting guidelines that are specific to each study design,and we have strict policies regarding conflicts of interests and ethical *** insider’s view of these guidelines and standards,and a better understanding of the aims and scope of the journal,will equip authors with the tools required to produce manuscripts that will move successfully through peer review not only in The Lancet family of journals,but also in other high-impact medical journals.

A defined mesophilic consortium including an iron oxidizing bacterium and a sulfur oxidizing bacterium was constructed to evaluate its ability for bioleaching a flotation concentrate from Andacollo mine in Neuquén,*** were performed in shake flasks with a pulp density of10%(w/v),using a basal salt medium containing ferrous iron at *** leaching solutions were analyzed for pH,redox potential(using specifics electrodes),ferrous iron(by UV-Vis spectrophotometry)and metal concentrations(by atomic absorption spectroscopy).The results showed that the consortium was able to reduce the refractory behavior of the concentrate,allowing91.6%of gold recovery;at the same time,high dissolution of copper and zinc was *** dissolutions followed a shrinking core kinetic *** to this model,the copper solubilization was controlled by diffusion through a product layer(mainly jarosite),while zinc dissolution did not show a defined control *** designed consortium,composed of bacterial strains with specific physiological abilities,could be useful not only to optimize gold recovery but also to decrease the leachates metallic charge,which would be an environmental advantage.

研究了加州Santa Monica海湾鳍足类的生态学。从1997-2007年乘船调查了277次,发现海狮(Zalophus californianus)是最常见的动物(89 %,见到的次数为1393次) ,其次是港海豹(Phoca vitulina richardsi, 8 %,n=131)和北象海豹(Mirounga angustirostris, 1 %,n=15)。在29 %的遇见次数(观察到瓶海豚205次)中,发现海狮(偶尔也发现港海豹)与瓶鼻海豚集群(Tursiops truncatus) ;短喙真海豚(Delphinus delphis)与长喙真海豚(D·capensis)在53 %的遇见次数(遇见真海豚次数n=155)中,发现短喙真海豚(Delphinus delphis)与长喙真海豚(D·capensis)集群;一般在沿岸水域(离岸边距离<500 m)见到海狮和港海豹,但在整个海湾也能见到,表现出这两个物种对海底峡谷的偏爱。北象海豹仅见于近海,主要在海底峡谷附近。经常看到海狮、港海豹和北象海豹游动(50 %,n=728)、进行热调节(14 %,n=205)、以及取食(3·2 %,n=47) ,但几乎见不到有社会性活动(0·21 %,n=3)

Over the past few years,there has been an emerging number of new psychoactive *** drugs are frequently mentioned as“legal highs”,“herbal highs”,“bath salts”and“research chemicals”.They are mostly sold and advertised on online forums and on the dark *** emerging new psychoactive substances are designed to mimic the effects of psychoactive groups,which are often abused *** synthetic opioids are a new trend in this context and represent an alarming threat to public *** the wide number of fatalities related to these compounds reported within the last few years,it is an important task to accurately identify these compounds in biologic matrices in order to administer an effective treatment and reverse the respiratory depression caused by opioid related *** dealing with fentanyl intoxication cases should consider that it could,in fact,be a fentanyl *** this reason,it is a helpful recommendation to include synthetic opioids in the routine toxicological screening procedures,including analysis in alternative matrices,if available,to investigate poly-drug use and possible tolerance to *** address this public health problem,better international collaboration,effective legislation,effective investigation,control of suspicious“research chemicals”online forums and continuous community alertness are *** article aims to review diverse reported fatalities associated with new synthetic opioids describing them in terms of pharmacology,metabolism,posology,available forms,as well as their toxic effects,highlighting the sample procedures and analytical techniques available for their detection and quantification in biological matrices.
