Hybrid reinforced thermoset polymer composite in energy absorption tube application:A review

The custom of hybridization fibre composite in energy absorption tube application has gained the attention of structural crashworthiness in composite material industry. Thus, the approach of this review is to understand the effect in hybridization within metal/synthetic fibre composite, synthetic/synthetic fibre composite and nature/synthetic fibre composite as energy absorption tube, which reflects on the energy absorption characteristics and crashworthiness behaviors in previous the study. by way of instance, a wide range of methodology and particular parameter in previous study such as the effect in fibre arrangement, matrix polymer, technique of fabrication, fibre treatment(natural fibre), design in geometry/cross-section and others mechanism of hybrid fibre composite tube are highlighted which to comprehend the capability of the mechanical performance and collapsible behavior as sacrificial structure in high-performance structure applications. moreover, in the recently studies there have been many of the research regarding structural materials as energy absorption tube has been introduced such as metal/matrix composites, new alloy metals and polymer composites which intended to evaluate the performance of these materials into circumstance in loading and impact characteristic. Therefore, this review article is trying to explore the research articles related to the effect of hybridization fibres and thermoset polymer as reinforcement for energy absorption tube research and expected would provide an information and idea which to expend the knowledge in future study of hybridization effect for energy absorption tube, moreover the development for future potential as new hybrid composite fibre materials from the natural/synthetic fibres reinforced composite material in employing of high-performance energy absorption tube application is still less discover and highlighted.

This research was aimed to study the effect winding orientation on the crashworthiness performance of hybrid *** specimens tested under quasi-static compression load involve of three winding parameters(q?30,45and 70)of hybrid kenaf/glass fiber reinforced epoxy and glass fiber reinforced epoxy as contrast *** automated filament winding technique has been used in fabrication of hybrid and non-hybrid composite tube and crashworthiness performance was investigated *** effects of winding orientation on energy absorption capabilities and crashworthiness characteristic were investigated through quasi-static compression load and the result are compared with the glass fiber composite tube to justify the capability of hybrid natural/synthetic as energy absorption *** samples proved to enhancing the progressive crushing capability as combination of local buckling,delaminate and brittle fracturing as progressive crushing *** the view of winding orientation aspect,the results of high winding orientation of hybrid composite tube elevated the crush load efficiency,specific energy absorption and energy absorption capability compared to glass composite tube(GFRP).The hybrid kenaf/glass composite tube with high winding orientation showed the best winding orientation to enhance the energy absorber characteristics as energy absorption application.

Radiological characterization of building materials used in malaysia and assessment of external and internal doses

In this study, the activity concentrations of ^(226)Ra,^(232)Th,^(222)Rn, and ^(40)K, emanation fractions(P),equilibrium equivalent concentration(EEC), and mass exhalation rates(E_m) of radon released from building materials used in malaysia were studied using gamma-ray spectrometer with HPGe detector. Radiological parameters[activity concentration index(ACI), indoor air-absorbed dose rate(D_(in)), annual effective dose(AED_(in)) from external and internal(E_(Rn)), soft tissues(H_(ST)) and lung(H_L), and effective dose equivalent(H_(eff))] were estimated to evaluate radiological hazards due to the use of these building materials: sand, cement, gravel, bricks, tiles, fly ash, white cement, and ceramic raw materials. The measured P, EEC,and E_m vary from 10 to 30%, 0.9 to 22 bq m^(-3), and 33 to 674 mbq h^(-1) kg^(-1), respectively, while the calculated ACI and AED_(in) vary from 0.1 ± 0.01 to 2.1 ± 0.1 and 0.1 ± 0.01 to 2.4 ± 0.6 mSv y^(-1), respectively. On the other hand, the internal annual effective dose ranges from 0.1 to 1.4 mSv y^(-1). The estimated radiological risk parameters were below the recommended maximum values, and radiological hazards associated with building materials under investigation are therefore negligible.

Calix[n]arenes was utilized to detect PAbA,the primary sunscreen *** study investigates the interaction of calix[4]arene(C4),calix[6]arene(C6),and PAbA using the Langmuir method and first-principle density functional theory(DFT).Using the Langmuir-Schaefer(LS)technique,an ultrathin film composed of calix[n]arenes and their complexes with PAbA was deposited on various *** on the Langmuir study,the PAbA molecule was bonded to the lower rims of both C4 and C6 with the host-guest ratio of 1:*** of the LS films formed were then characterized by ultravioletvisible spectroscopy(UV-Vis),Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy(FTIR)and carbon,hydrogen,nitrogen,sulfur elemental analyzer(CHNS).The band gap reduction obtained in the DFT study denotes the charge transfer interaction with promising reactivity between the calix[n]arenes and *** sensing of PAbA by C4 and C6 is successful based on the formation of bonding between them due to the hosts’effective trapping *** outcomes of this study could be applied to drug delivery systems for future pharmaceutical and medical applications.

Phase diagrams and magnetic properties of the mixed spin-1 and spin-3/2 Ising film with different single-ion anisotropies are investigated, by the use of monte Carlo simulation based on heat bath algorithms. The effects of the crystal-fields and the surface coupling on the phase diagrams are investigated in detail and the obtained phase diagrams are presented. Depending on the Hamiltonian parameters, the system exhibits both second-and first-order phase transitions besides tricritical point, triple point, and isolated critical end point.

Strong and ductile mg alloys developed by dislocation engineering

Dislocation engineering concept has been successfully employed to tackle the strength-ductility trade-off in steels, resulting in the development of high-strength high-ductility deformed and partitioned(D&P)steel. The present perspective proposes to employ such dislocation engineering concept to develop strong and ductile magnesium(mg) alloys. High density of dislocations could be generated at appropriate temperature and retained in the mg alloy after quenching to room temperature. Those dislocations inherited from the warm deformation could provide dislocation sources when the mg alloy is deformed at room temperature, resulting in good ductility. The high dislocation density generated at warm deformation provides dislocation forest hardening, leading to improved yield strength of mg alloy.

Seepage properties of a single rock fracture subjected to triaxial stresses

Coupled properties of seepage and stress fields of rock fractures greatly influence the safety of geotechnical engineering work. based on the closing deformation principle of a single rock fracture, equations describing relationships of aperture and triaxial stresses are developed, and coupled models of seepage and triaxial stresses are proposed. Seepage tests are conducted under triaxial stress conditions by adopting hard granite specimens with an artificial fracture. The results show that the normal stress, lateral stress and seepage pressure significantly affect the flow behavior of rock fractures, and that hydraulic conductivity decreases with increasing normal stress, but increases with rising lateral stress or seepage pressure. In addition, an exponential function provides a good representation of the seepage characteristics of a single rock fracture subjected to triaxial stresses.
