Magnetotactic bacteria reside in sediments and stratified water *** are named after their ability to synthesize internal magnetic particles that allow them to align and swim along the Earth’s magnetic field ***,we show that two magnetotactic species,Magnetospirillum magneticum strain AMb-1 and Magnetospirillum gryphiswaldense strain MSR-1,are *** *** and *** were able to generate current in microbial fuel cells with maximum power densities of 27 and 11μW/m^(2),*** the presence of the electron shuttle resazurin both species were able to reduce the crystalline iron oxide hematite(Fe_(2)O_(3)).In addition,*** could reduce poorly crystalline iron oxide(FeOOH).Our study adds *** and *** to the growing list of known electroactive bacteria,and implies that electroactivity might be common for bacteria within the Magnetospirillum genus.

Accurately measuring magnetic fields is essential for magnetic-field sensitive experiments in areas like atomic,molecular,and optical physics,condensed matter experiments,and other ***,since many experiments are often conducted in an isolated environment that is inaccessible to experimentalists,it can be challenging to accurately determine the magnetic field at the target ***,we propose an efficient method for detecting magnetic fields with the assistance of an artificial neural network(NN).Instead of measuring the magnetic field directly at the desired location,we detect fields at several surrounding positions,and a trained NN can accurately predict the magnetic field at the target *** training,we achieve a below 0.3%relative prediction error of magnetic field magnitude at the center of the vacuum chamber,and successfully apply this method to our erbium quantum gas apparatus for accurate calibration of magnetic field and long-term monitoring of environmental stray magnetic *** demonstrated approach significantly simplifies the process of determining magnetic fields in isolated environments and can be applied to various research fields across a wide range of magnetic field magnitudes.

We report the confirmation of a sub-Saturn-size exoplanet,TOI-1194 b,with a mass of about 0.456+0.055-0.051M_(J),and a very low mass companion star with a mass of about 96.5±1.5 MJ,TOI-1251 *** candidates provided by the Transiting Exoplanet Survey Satellite(TESS)are suitable for further follow-up observations by ground-based telescopes with small and medium *** analysis is performed based on data from several telescopes worldwide,including telescopes in the Sino-German multiband photometric campaign,which aimed at confirming TESS Objects of Interest(TOIs)using ground-based small-aperture and medium-aperture telescopes,especially for long-period ***-1194 b is confirmed based on the consistent periodic transit depths from the multiband photometric *** measure an orbital period of 2.310644±0.000001 days,the radius is 0.767+0.045-0.041RJ and the amplitude of the RV curve is 69.4_(-7.3)^(+7.9)m s^(-1).TOI-1251 b is confirmed based on the multiband photometric and high-resolution spectroscopic data,whose orbital period is 5.963054+0.000002-0.000001days,radius is 0.947+0.035-0.033 R_(J) and amplitude of the RV curve is 9849_(-40)^(+42)ms^(-1).

Long-term prognosis in patients with severe late radiation enteropathy:A prospective cohort study

AIM: To assess persistent symptoms and mortality in a cohort of patients with severe (grade 3-4) radiation enteropathy,59 patients were followed up after 15-18 years. METHODS: Fifty-nine patients were prospectively enrolled by twelve surgical departments. Primary malignant disease,radiation therapy and surgical management were recorded at inclusion. The cause of death or persistence of symptoms was examined in public death records or by interview of survivors. RESULTS: Thirty-nine patients had received radiation therapy for gynaecological cancers,twelve for urological cancers,four for gastrointestinal cancers and four for other malignancies. Forty-five patients (76%) required surgical intervention. Complications occurred in 11 (25%) operated patients. Forty-seven patients had died at the time of follow-up,seven (12%) died as a direct result of radiation enteropathy,while radiation enteropathy contributed to death in an additional seven patients. Four of the twelve surviving patients suffered from chronic debilitating symptoms of radiation enteropathy,while three had moderate symptoms. CONCLUSION: Patients with severe delayed radiation enteropathy have a high risk of persistence of symptoms after surgery. At least one in ten patients dies from radiation-induced bowel injury.

Tissue engineering and the tissue engineering model have shown promise in improving methods of drug delivery, drug action, and drug discovery in pharmaceutical research for the attenuation of the central nervous system inflammatory response. Such inflammation contributes to the lack of regenerative ability of neural cells, as well as the temporary and permanent loss of function associated with neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer's disease, Parkinson's disease, and traumatic brain injury. This review is focused specifically on the recent advances in the tissue engineering model made by altering scaffold biophysical and biochemical properties for use in the treatment of neurodegenerative diseases. A portion of this article will also be spent on the review of recent progress made in extracellular matrix decellularization as a new and innovative scaffold for disease treatment.

The paper focuses on the combination of the Finite Element simulation and optimization to improve process or product quality. Three different examples to illustrate the developed genetic approach are given. In all three examples is-DYNA3D is used to simulate the process and a general aptimiza- tion sensitivity based strategy is utilized to improve the design. The included examples are: 1) stretch bending of tubes, 2) bulging of tubes, and finally 3) hydromechanical deep drawing. these examples clearly illustrate the potential of systematic optimization in the area of metal processing.

The constitutively-expressed cyclooxygenase 1（COX-1） and the inducible COX-2 are both involved in the conversion of arachidonic acid（AA） to prostaglandins（PGs）.However,the functional roles of COX-1 at the cellular level remain *** hypothesized that by comparing differential gene expression and eicosanoid metabolism in lung fibroblasts from wild-type（WT） mice and COX-2^（-/-） or COX-1^（-/-） mice may help address the functional roles of COX-1 in inflammation and other cellular *** to WT,the number of specifically-induced transcripts were altered descendingly as follows：COX-2^（-/-）〉 COX-1^（-/-）〉 WT ＋ IL-1β.COX-1^（-/-） or COX-2^（-/-） cells shared about 50%of the induced transcripts with WT cells treated with IL-1β,*** interactive ＂anti-inflammatory,proinflammatory,and redox-activated＂ signature in the protein-protein interactome map was observed in COX-2^（-/-） *** augmented COX-1mRNA（in COX-2^（-/-） cells） was associated with the upregulation of mRNAs for glutathione S-transferase（GST）,superoxide dismutase（SOD）,NAD（P）H dehydrogenase quinone 1（NQO1）,aryl hydrocarbon receptor（AhR）,peroxiredoxin,phospholipase,prostacyclin synthase,and prostaglandin E synthase,resulting in a significant increase in the levels of PGE2,PGD2,leukotriene b4（LTb4）,PGF（1α）,thromboxane b2（TXb2）,and PGF（2α）.The COX-1 plays a dominant role in shifting AA toward the LTb4 pathway and anti-inflammatory *** to WT,the upregulated COX-1 mRNA in COX-2^（-/-） cells generated an ＂eicosanoid storm＂.The genomic characteristics of COX-2^（-/-） is similar to that of proinflammatory cells as observed in IL-1β induced WT ***-1^（-/-） and COX-2^（-/-） cells exhibited compensation of various eicosanoids at the genomic and metabolic levels.

Molecular dynamics simulations were applied in order to calculate the Young’s modulus of graphene functionalized with carboxyl,hydroxyl,carbonyl,hydrogen,methyl,and ethyl *** influence of the grafting density with percentages of 3,5,7,and 10%and the type of distribution as a single cluster or several small clusters were also *** results show that the elastic modulus is dependent on the type of functional *** increasing coverage density also evidenced a decrease of the Young’s modulus,and the organization of functional groups as single cluster showed a lesser impact than for several small ***,the bond length and angle distribution probability analyses reveal that lengths and angles are affected with increasing functionalization suggesting more out-of-plane displacements of the carbon atoms within the graphene structure.
