Facial expression recognition consists of determining what kind of emotional content is presented in a human face. The problem presents a complex area for exploration, since it encompasses face acquisition, facial feature tracking, facial ex- pression classification. Facial feature tracking is of the most interest. Active Appearance Model (AAM) enables accurate tracking of facial features in real-time, but lacks occlusions and self-occlusions. In this paper we propose a solution to improve the accuracy of fitting technique. The idea is to include occluded images into AAM training data. We demonstrate the results by running ex- periments using gradient descent algorithm for fitting the AAM. Our experiments show that using fitting algorithm with occluded training data improves the fitting quality of the algorithm.

A theoretical and experimental study of the thermal decomposition of nitroguanidine(NQ) has been carried out. Various thermolysis channels were studied by quantum chemistry methods at the CCSD(or DLPNO-CCSD) level using the aug-cc-pVDZ basis set. It is shown that the lowest activation enthalpies(170-180kJ/mol) are characteristic of the reactions of NO2abstraction from the initial NQ and the reaction channel with the transfer of oxygen from the nitro group to carbon in the limiting stage. Additionally, the thermolysis of NQ was studied experimentally in a nonisothermal mode with heating rates from 1 to 10K/min. In these experiments, the weight loss of the sample, thermal effects, and mass spectra of the products were recorded. An analysis of the experimental data confirmed the results of a theoretical study of the mechanism of thermal decomposition of NQ. The main thermolysis products are N2O, HNCO, NH3, and NO2, which fully corresponds to quantum chemical calculations.

We consider the problem of distributing the stress-strain state (SSS) characteristics in the body arbitrarily loaded on the outer surface and weakened by a physical cut with a thickness of δ0. It is assumed that δ0 parameter is the smallest possible size permitting the use of the hypothesis of continuity. The continuation of the physical cut divides the body into two parts interacting with one another by means of a contact with δ-layer. Due to constant average stresses and strains over the layer thickness, the problem reduces to the system of variational equations for the displacement fields in the adjacent bodies. The geometry of the bodies under consideration has no singular points and, as a consequence, has no singularity of stresses. The use of average characteristics makes it possible to disregard a form of the physical cut end. The obtained solution can be used for processing of experimental data in order to establish the continuity scale δ0. The entered structure parameter for silicate glass is assessed using known mechanical characteristics.

Many papers have used fluorescent probe diffusion to infer membrane viscosity but the measurement is actually an assay of the free volume of the membrane. The free volume is also related to the membrane tension. Thus, changes in probe mobility refer equally well to changes in membrane tension. In complicated structures like cell membranes, it appears more intuitive to consider variations in free volume as referring to the effect of domains structures and interactions with the cytoskeleton than changes in viscosity since tension is a state variable and viscosity is not.

The work provides the results of the one-step formation of boron-containing coatings on an Mg–Mn–Ce alloy by plasma electrolytic oxidation. The results of studies of the composition, structure and morphology of heteroxide coatings are presented. It was established that the boron is contained in the coating mainly in the form of B or B_(2)O_(3). The introduction of B changes the color of coatings, and also helps to increase their porosity. The method of determining the full cross section of the interaction of thermal neutron absorption efficiency by samples material using the installation of neutron-activation analysis based on ^(252)Cf was developed. It was shown that the introduction of boron into the formed coatings allows to increase the macroscopic cross-section of the interaction of samples with thermal neutrons by 3.8 times. This effect opens the potential for the use of synthesized material in the field of nuclear technologies and aerospace industry.

Cooper-Carbon Nanostructured Composite Coatings with Controlled Structure

Samples of the Cu-C composite coatings were produced by high-speed ion-plasma magnetron sputtering (HiPMS) with mosaic target (MT). Nanostructure, roughness, mechanical properties as well as electric properties of coatings depend on carbon-cooper ratio. So 10% - 15% cooper con centration (atomic) results in to dry friction coefficient decrease up to 0.1 and wear resistance increase up to 10-17 m3/N·m. The HiPMS method allowed us to effectively sputter very different materials like carbon and cooper at the same velocity with required proportion. At the same time, one could obtain a uniform mixture of ingredients on the atomic level. The coating corresponds to a mixture of nano-sized phases of carbon and cooper. Crystalline dispersion of samples depends on carbon concentration. The obtained products are characterized by XRD, UV (257 nm) and visible (514 nm) Raman spectroscopy. The morphologies are studied with TEM and AFM. Mechanical properties were investigated with friction coefficient and micro hardness tests. There was no chemical interaction during Cu-C precipitation on hot substrate (625 - 725 K). The mechanical properties can be explained by free electrons capture with carbon nanostructures and space charge formation.
