课前指导与补充指导对学生网络学习的影响

马来西亚开放大学(OUM)90%以上的学生为在职人员。这些成年学生离开学校至少已经5年,而且大多数人的数学基础不好。因此,仅是在线学习加少量面授辅导的教学模式对他们来说还不能完全解决学习困难。学校试用了"课前指导工作室"与"补充指导"的教学方法,探讨了这一方法对学员的在线参与程度及考试结果的影响,运用源于探究团体模式的34项量表对在线论坛的内容进行了分析,结果表明,学员参加工作室与否同他们的期末考试成绩有很大关系。参加指导老师工作室及补充指导的学员与那些参加指导老师常规指导的学员相比,前者的在线参与程度及期末考试的平均分都存在着很大的差异。两组学员的数学探究团体模式平均分表明,两组学员在教学存在和认知存在方面有差异,但在社会存在方面基本相同。

Primary pericardial sarcomas are extremely rare. We report a case of 19 year old male who presented with cough, dyspnoea, and orthopnea. Investigations and exploratory thoracotomy revealed a large pericardial mass. Surgical debulking of the tumor was performed and the histopathological examination was compatible with synovial sarcoma. The tumor was unresectable due to its invasion and adhesion to mediastinal structures. Hence patient was started on palliative chemotherapy (adriamycin and ifosfamide based). Patient showed an initial symptomatic response but later on there was a clinical progres-sion and died within six months of his diagnosis.

Investigation of Cutting Force by End Milling Operation

In this work, the cutting forces by end milling operation are analyzed. Therefore, the main parameters of cutting force as cutting speed, feed rate and depth of cut also are investigated in our case. The cutting force is modelled and analyzed into mathematical Wolfram simulations in order to compare the results and in the same time achieve the best solutions. Theoretical results are carried out by using the regression method that required fulfilling the critter by Fisher. The number of experiment, measurements and results of cutting force are presented in 2D as well as 3D. In order to verify the accuracy of the 2D diagram, the results for our case is used both two way such as experimental and theoretical method as well as results are compared. In other hands, these results indicate directly that the optimized parameters are capable of machining the workpiece. The obtained measurement results are compared with theoretical methods in Wolfram software.

Objectives: The purpose of this work was to determine the dimensions of CFA before the birth of the deep thigh artery, describe the mode of termination of the CFA, search for CFA collaterals, and describe the anatomical variations of the CFA. Methodology: This was a prospective study conducted at the Anatomy Laboratory of the Faculty of Medicine and Odonto-Stomatology of Bamako. CFA arteries of 12 fresh corpses of adults include 9 men and 3 women. A total of 24 CFA arteries were dissected and photographed. Results: The mean length of CFA was 50.9 ± 12.55 mm (range: 31 and 93 mm). Its average diameter was 9.12 ± 1.17 mm (range: 7 and 12 mm). In 70.83%, the CFA artery ended without any particularity. There was 29.17% anatomic variation in the CFA termination mode. The CFA divided into 3 branches (trifurcation) in 25%. The 3 branches were in 20.83%, the FS and a common core to LFCA and AQ;in 4.17%, they were the SFA, the DFA and the MFCA. In 4.17%, it divided into 4 branches which are: the SFA, the DFA, the MFCA and a common core to QA and LFCA. The CFA gave as collateral: circumflex superficial iliac artery in 22 cases (91.67%), superficial epigastric artery in 19 cases (79.17%), upper external pudendal artery in 20 cases (83.33%), and lower external pudendal artery in 14 cases (58.33%). We noted in our series 9 anatomical variations at the collateral level of the CFA or 37.5%. The CFA gave birth to the following branches: the MFCA in 4 cases or 16.67%, the LFCA in 1 case or 4.17%, the QA in 1 case or 4.17%, and a common core to the QA and LFCA in 3 cases or 12.5%. Conclusion: The length of CFA is important. The variations of CFA are frequent and important to know in clinical and surgical practice.

Palm oil mill effluent (POME) treatment is an important issue for the minimization of pollution. POME is a highly polluting effluent containing various forms of organics and inorganic suspended solids. The coagulation-flocculation process using Moringa oleifera seeds after oil extraction (MOAE) as a natural coagulant presents a viable alternative for the treatment of POME. A series of jar tests were conducted to determine the parameters involved during coagulation-flocculation process. The influence of the different operating parameters over the sediment volumetric percentage, settling velocity, sludge volume index (SVI) and residual conductivity of the POME treated supernatant to achieve good settleability parameters in the physicochemical treatment of POME wastewater was studied. The operating parameters were the effect of stirring speed, mixing time, pH, MOAE dosage and temperature. The pretreatment using MOAE with NALCO 7751 flocculant resulted in 99.2% suspended solids removal and 52.5% chemical oxygen demands (COD) reduction.

Background. Vitamin A and E are lipid soluble antioxidants that are necessary for our health. Deficiency in these vitamins can cause serious diseases. Administration of vitamin A and E to patients with acne was shown to improve their acne condition. Aims. To test the relationship between plasma vitamin A and E levels and acne. Methods. Plasma vitamin A and E concentrations were determined by high performance liquid chromatography in 100 newly diagnosed untreated patients with acne and were compared with those of 100 age-matched healthy controls. Patients were carefully graded using the Global Acne Grading System. Results. We found that plasma vitamin A concentrations in patients with acne were significantly lower than those of the control group (336.5 vs. 418.1 μ g/L, respectively) P = 0.007. We also found that plasma vitamin E concentrations in patients with acne were significantly lower than those of controls (5.4 vs. 5.9 mg/L) P = 0.05. In addition, we found that there is a strong relationship between decrease in plasma vitamin A levels and increase in the severity of acne condition. Patients with severe acne had significantly lower plasma concentrations of vitamins A and E than did those with lower acne grade and the age-matched healthy controls. Discussion. Based on our results, we conclude that low vitamin A and E plasma levels have an important role in the pathogenesis of acne and in the aggravation of this condition.

AIM:To evaluate the efficacy of percutaneous imagingguided biliary interventions in the management of acute biliary disorders in high surgical risk ***:One hundred and twenty two patients underwent 139 percutaneous imaging-guided biliary interventions during the period between January 2007 to December *** patients included 73 women and 49 men with a mean age of 61 years(range 35-90 years).Fifty nine patients had acute biliary obstruction,26 patients had acute biliary infection and 37 patients had abnormal *** procedures were performed under computed tomography(CT)-(73 patients),sonographic-(41 patients),and fluoroscopic-guidance(25 patients).Success rates and complications were *** χ2 test with Yates' correction for continuity was applied to compare between these procedures.A P value < 0.05 was considered ***:The success rates for draining acute biliary obstruction under CT-,fluoroscopy-or ultrasoundguidance were 93.3,62.5 and 46.1,respectively with significant P values(P = 0.026 and 0.002,respectively).In acute biliary infection,successful drainage was achieved in 22 patients(84.6).The success rates in patients drained under ultrasound-and CT-guidance were 46.1 and 88.8,respectively and drainage under CT-guidance was significantly higher(P = 0.0293).In 13 patients with bilomas,percutaneous drainage was successful in 11 patients(84.6).Ten out of 12 cases with hepatic abscesses were drained with a success rate of *** addition,the success rate of drainage in 12 cases with pancreatic pseudocysts was *** reported complications were two deaths,four major and seven minor ***:Percutaneous imaging-guided biliary interventions help to promptly diagnose and effectively treat acute biliary *** either cure the disorders or relieve sepsis and jaundice before operations.
