BACKGROUND Women with gestational diabetes mellitus(GDM)are at a seven-fold higher risk of developing type 2 diabetes(T2D)within 7-10 years after childbirth,compared with those with normoglycemic *** raised fasting blood glucose(FBG)levels has been said to be the main significant predictor of postpartum progression to T2D,it is difficult to predict who among the women with GDM would develop ***,we conducted a cross-sectional retrospective study to examine the glycemic indices that can predict postnatal T2D in Emirati Arab women with a history of *** To assess how oral glucose tolerance test(OGTT)can identify the distinct GDM pathophysiology and predict possible distinct postnatal T2D *** The glycemic status of a cohort of 4603 pregnant Emirati Arab women,who delivered in 2007 at both latifa Women and Children Hospital and at Dubai Hospital,United Arab Emirates,was assessed retrospectively,using the International Association of Diabetes and Pregnancy Study Groups(IADPSG)*** the total,1231 women were followed up and assessed in *** FBG and/or the 2-h blood glucose(2hrBG)levels after a 75-g glucose load were measured to assess the prevalence of GDM and T2D,according to the IADPSG and American Diabetes Association(ADA)criteria,*** receiver operating characteristic curve for the OGTT was plotted and sensitivity,specificity,and predictive values of FBG and 2hrBG for T2D were *** Considering both FBG and 2hrBG levels,according to the IADPSG criteria,the prevalence of GDM in pregnant Emirati women in 2007 was 1057/4603(23%),while the prevalence of pre-pregnancy T2D among them,based on ADA criteria,was 230/4603(5%).In the subset of women(n=1231)followed up in 2016,the prevalence of GDM in 2007 was 362/1231(29.6%),while the prevalence of prepregnancy T2D was 36/1231(2.9%).Of the 362 pregnant women with GDM in 2007,96/362(26.5%)developed T2D;142/362(39.2%)developed impaired fasting glucose;29/36

文章研究改进了IDEFO过程描述技术,并利用设计结构矩阵(DSM)技术原理对手术治疗(SM)过程的信息进行了描述。文章认为,信息流除了有输入和输出外,还有3个附加要素:指导、约束和反馈。这些附加要素组成了"治理信息",对活动执行进行管理、调整和控制。文章提出对治理信息要素及其相关性进行标识,可以减少延误和干扰,从而改进过程偏差。最后,借助案例研究对改进的技术和结果矩阵进行了说明。

Structural and Optical Properties of Zinc Borotellurite Glass Co-Doped with Lanthanum and Silver Oxide

A series of zinc borotellurite glass co-doped with lanthanum and silver oxide with the chemical formula of [{[(TeO2)0.7(B2O3)0.3]0.7(ZnO)0.3}0.96(La2O3)0.04]1-x(Ag2O)x where the molar frac-tion of silver oxide, x = 0.02, 0.04, 0.06, 0.08 and 0.10 had been successfully prepared via the conventional melt-quenching technique. The structural properties of the glasses were unveiled through X-ray Diffraction (XRD) and Fourier Transform Infra-Red (FTIR) spectroscopy while optical properties of the glasses were investigated with Ultra Violet Visible (UV-Vis) spectropho-toscopy. The short range periodic atomic arrangement in the glass matrix that implies the amorphous nature of the glass was confirmed with the presence of a broad hump in the XRD pattern. On the other hand, the three absorption bands observable in the FTIR spectra had proven the existence of BO4, BO3 as well as TeO4 units in the glass network. The absorbance values retrieved from UV-Vis spectroscopy were utilized to calculate the indirect energy band gap and Urbach energy values of the fabricated glass. By employing the equations proposed by Mott and Davis, the obtained indirect energy band gap have val-ues ranging from 2.16 to 4.16 *** decreasing trend in indirect energy band gap and increasing Urbach energy values were related to the increasing num-ber of nonbridging oxygen (NBO) in the glass that is created from the breaking of Te-O-Te or B-O-B bonds after lanthanum as well as silver oxide are incor-porated into the zinc borotellurite glass network.

Random Laser of R6G Dye and TiO2Nanoparticals Doped in PMMA Polymer

The random laser (RL) based on organic Rhodamine 6G (R6G) laser- dye and Titanium dioxide (TiO2) suspended nanoparticles have been prepared with polymethylmethacrylate (PMMA) as a host. Both liquid and spray-coated homogeneous film samples of 22.4 μm - 30.1 μm thickness range were use. Optimum concentrations have been determined depending on the normal fluorescence spectra which give evidence that the laser dye provides amplification and TiO2 nanoparticles as scatter center. At the optimum concentrations, results of the random laser (RL) under second harmonic Nd: YAG laser ex-citation show that the values of bandwidth at full width half-maximum (FWHM) and the threshold energy are about 9 nm and 15 mJ respectively, which represent the minimum value for the liquid samples in the current research. Correspondly, these values become 14 nm and 15 mJ for film sample. The broadening that can be attributed to the concentration quenching of a laser dye at high concentration levels has been observed.

The Combination of Parkland Formula, Using Normal Saline, with Muir &Barclay Formula for Fluid Resuscitation in the Initial Burn Shock Period

Objectives: Evaluation of the effects of withholding plasma during the initial part of the burn shock period (the shock period in the study is estimated as the first 36 hours following the burns) when it will be lost into the interstitial tissues through the permeable capillaries. During that time crystalloids are administered. Another objective is to evaluate the effect of administering normal saline as the crystalloid resuscitation fluid during the initial part of the shock period. Design: A Retrospective 4 years study compares the use of normal saline as the resuscitative intravenous fluid during the first 12 hours post burns followed by intravenous 5% Purified Plasma Protein Fraction (PPPF) during the rest of the shock period i.e. the remaining 24 hours, with the use of the PPPF throughout the burns shock period according to Muir and Barclay formula. Setting: The Plastic Surgery Department and the Department of Laboratory, Directorate General of Khoula Tertiary Hospital, Muscat, Sultanate of Oman. Patients and Methods: The study included 2 groups of patients;Group A: Patients who received 5% Plasma (Human PPPF) throughout the shock period and Group B: Patients who received crystalloids in the form of normal saline during the first 12 hours post burn followed by plasma for the next 24 hours. Monitoring of the patients in both groups was done by using clinical signs of pulse, blood pressure, temperature and urine output and by using laboratory investigations in the form of the haematocrit value, sodium, potassium, chloride, total proteins and albumin levels in the blood at the time of admission and at the end of the shock period. Results: 140 patients were included in the study;64 in Group A and 76 in Group B. There was no mortality and the vital signs were maintained during the shock period in both groups. The mean values of urine output were nearer to the normal level in Group B compared to Group A. The same was observed regarding the Haematocrit value. In both

河北涞源祁家峪剖面寒武系出露连续,层序界面清楚且沉积现象丰富,是进行华北地台寒武系层序划分的较为典型的剖面之一。在新的寒武系年代地层框架下,依据地层的叠置形式、纵向上的沉积相变化及其内部的旋回特征,将该剖面寒武系划分为8个三级层序。结果表明:研究区域从馒头组、毛庄组的"TST+HST"沉积序列转变为"CS+HST"的淹没不整合型层序序列,反映出从混积潮坪沉积序列向缓坡型碳酸盐台地的演化过程,也意味着华北地台寒武系碳酸盐台地从发展阶段向成熟阶段的重大转变;该剖面芙蓉统内部的竹叶状灰岩与长山组顶部、凤山组第1个三级层序顶部发育的均一石生物丘代表了华北地台寒武系末期"贫乏骨骼的风暴海"以及"随着后生动物辐射,微生物碳酸盐岩也在增加"两大特殊沉积现象较为典型的沉积样式。基于层序地层框架内的沉积相叠加方式和地层记录中旋回特征的描述,对河北涞源祁家峪剖面进行层序地层划分,将为探索华北地台在太行山北缘广泛分布的寒武系提供参考实例,也为今后更大区域范围的对比研究提供线索。

Determination of threshold random gain medium in dye: Polymer films containing TiO2nanoparticles

Spray-coated homogeneous film samples of 22.4 μm thickness. Optimum concentrations have been determined depending on the normal fluorescence spectra which give evidence that the laser dye provides amplification and TiO2 nanoparticles act as scatter center. At the optimum concentrations, results of the random gain medium under second harmonic Nd: YAG laser excitation shows that the values of bandwidth at full width half-maximum (FWHM) and the threshold energy are about 11 nm and 10 mJ respectively.

We present algorithms for computing the differential geometry properties of Frenet apparatus {t,n,b,κ,τ} and higher-order derivatives of intersection curves of implicit and parametric surfaces in R3 for transversal and tangential intersection. This work is considered as a continuation to Ye and Maekawa [1]. We obtain a classification of the singularities on the intersection curve. Some examples are given and plotted.

Investigation of a Modified Cobalt-Free Alloy for Nuclear Application

Cobalt-free alloy of constituent’s “0.045%C-12.73%Ni-6.53%Cr-3.2%Mo-0.02%Ti-0.01%V” has been prepared by electro slag remelting technique. Mass attenuation coefficient, half value layer and effective atomic number have been determined for the prepared sample at photon energies 235 - 2700 keV. The results are compared with the corresponding theoretical calculations based on XCOM program and a fair agreement is obtained.
