Susceptibility of Large Wind Power Plants to Voltage Disturbances-Recommendations to Stakeholders

Sufficient fault ride-through(FRT)of large wind power plants(WPPs)is essential for the operation security of transmission system.The maj.rity of studies on FRT do not include all disturbances originating in the transmission system or the disturbances irrelevant to the operation security.Based on the knowledge of power quality,this paper provides a guide to stakeholders in different aspects of FRT for wind turbines(WTs)and WPPs.This paper details the characteristics of the most common disturbances originated in the transmission system,how they propagate to the WT terminals,and how they impact the dynamic behavior of a large WPP.This paper shows that the details of the voltage disturbances,not only in the transmission system,but also at the WT terminals,should be taken into consideration.Moreover,a detailed representation or characterization of voltage dips is important for FRT studies,despite that the simplified models used in the literature are insufficient.This paper strongly recommends that distinct events and additional characteristics such as the phase-angle j.mp and oscillations in the transition segments should be considered in FRT analysis.

We presented a letter about a case of a 37-year-old Black female with a history of human immunodeficiency virus and an undetectable viral load.She was evaluated with weakness in the scapular(grade III)and pelvic girdles(grade II),elevation of creatine phosphokinase levels and muscle biopsy compatible with nemaline myopathy.She was treated with rituximab showing improvement of the condition.

Many plants pollinated by nectar-foraging animals have to maintain a balance between legitimate visitor attraction strategies and mechanisms that minimize illegitimate visits.This study investigated how floral display and neighboring species composition influences nectar robbing by hummingbirds in the tropical ornithophilous herb Heliconia spathocircinata.We tested the role of inflorescence display,flower abundance,and neighboring species in the reduction of nectar robbing in H.spathocircinata.Our results indicate that nectar robbing hummingbird activity was higher in moderately large inflorescence displays and that the frequency of nectar robbing in H.spathocircinata decreases with increased flower abundance and the presence of neighboring plant species.Neighboring non-ornithophilous plants decreased the frequency of nectar robbing in H.spathocircinata flowers to a greater extent than ornithophilous ones.These results suggest that nectar robbing hummingbirds are attracted to similar conditions that attract legitimate visitors and that spatial aggregation and mixed-species displays may represent a mechanism to dilute nectar robbing effects at an individual level.

Deep foundations are currently used in engineering practice to solve problems caused by weak geotechnical characteristics of the ground.Impact pile driving is an interesting and viable solution from economic and technical points of view.However,it is necessary to ensure that the environmental drawbacks,namely ground-borne vibration,are adequately met.For this purpose,the authors propose an axisymmetric finite element method-perfectly matched layer(FEM-PML)approach,where the nonlinear behavior of the soil is addressed through an equivalent linear methodology.Given the complexity of the problem,an experimental test site was developed and fully characterized.The experimental work comprised in-situ and laboratory soil characterization,as well as the measurement of vibrations induced during pile driving.The comparison between experimental and numerical results demonstrated a very good agreement,from which it can be concluded that the proposed numerical approach is suitable for the prediction of vibrations induced by impact pile driving.The experimental database is available as supplemental data and may be used by other researchers in the validation of their prediction models.

We performed a literature mini-review of the clinical profile of patients with spondylarthritis who are also human leukocyte antigen(HLA)-B51-positive.It seems to us that patients with HLA-B27 and HLA-B51 are more common in men,Asians and between the third and ninth decades of life.They are more likely to develop peripheral j.int conditions,with cutaneous manifestations(e.g.,oral ulcers)and uveitis.Therefore,more robust epidemiological studies with more accurate methodology and multicenter locations are needed to better map the role of the interaction between HLA-B51 in patients with spondylarthritis.

INTRODUCTION Seed dispersal is a key process in the life cycle of most plants,with ecological and evolutionary consequences that go beyond vegetation dynamics and cascade to entire ecosystem functioning and stability(Traveset et al.2014).Seed dispersal largely constrains plant recruitment and the distribution of future plant cohorts,thus playing a critical role in the restoration of disturbed sites(Cain et al.2000;Higgins et al.2003).It can also threaten plant diversity by facilitating plant invasions(Vavra et al.2007;Heleno 2020).

The aim of this paper was to report on factors contributing to the deterioration of the mental health of Indigenous populations(IP)in Brazil.Five factors seem to have a direct impact on the mental health of IP in Brazil:(1)The absence of public policies;(2)Intellectual production;(3)Psychiatric medical care for remote areas(e.g.,telemedicine)aimed at promoting the mental health of Brazil’s IP,which causes a huge gap in the process of assistance and social,psychological,economic and cultural valorization of native peoples;(4)The dissemination of fake news,which exposed,above all,older IP to risk behaviors in the pandemic,such as refusal of vaccination;and(5)The violence carried out on IP lands due to economic interests with mining/agribusiness.

Rainfall erosivity is defined as the potential of rain to cause erosion.It has great potential for application in studies related to natural disasters,in addition to water erosion.The obj.ctives of this study were:ⅰ)to model the Rday using a seasonal model for the Mountainous Region of the State of Rio de j.neiro(MRRj.;ⅱ)to adj.st thresholds of the Rday index based on catastrophic events which occurred in the last two decades;andⅲ)to map the maximum daily rainfall erosivity(Rmaxday)to assess the region's suscepti-bility to rainfall hazards according to the established Rday limits.The fitted Rday model presented a satisfactory result,thereby enabling its application as a Rday estimate in MRRj.Events that resulted in Rday>1500 Mj.ha-1.***.h-1.day-1 were those with the highest number of fatalities.The spatial distribution of Rmaxday showed that the entire MRRj.has presented values that can cause maj.r rainfall.The Rday index proved to be a promising indicator of rainfall disasters,which is more effective than those normally used that are only based on quantity(mm)and/or intensity(mm.h-1)of the rain.
