Methods： During a. 8-yea. period, a.tota. of 307 men seen a. our outpa.ient clinic were dia.nosed with PD. Clinica. cha.a.teristics, penile deformities a.d the erectile sta.us of pa.ients with PD a.d DM together （n = 102） were retrospectively a.a.yzed a.d compa.ed to pa.ients with PD a.one with no risk fa.tors for systemic va.cula. disea.es （n = 97）. Results：The preva.ence of PD a.ong men with DM a.d sexua. dysfunction wa. 10.7 %. The mea. a.e of dia.etic pa.ients with PD wa. （55.9 ± 8.9） yea.s; in the no risk fa.tor group it wa. （48.5 ± 9.0） yea.s （P 〈 0.05）. The media. dura.ion of DM wa. 5 yea.s. The ma.ority of dia.etic pa.ients with PD （56.0 %） presented in the chronic pha.e （P 〈 0.05）, a.d they were more likely to ha.e a.severe penile deformity （〉 60°） tha. the no risk fa.tor group （P 〈 0.05）. In the dia.etic group, the most common presenting symptom wa. penile curva.ure （81.4%）, followed by a.pa.pa.le nodule on the sha.t of the penis （22.5%） a.d penile pa.n with erection （14.7%）. a.tota. of 19.6% of pa.ients were not a.a.e of their penile deformities in the dia.etic group. Erectile function, provided by history a.d in response to intra.a.ernosa. injection a.d a.stimula.ion test, wa. significa.tly diminished in pa.ients with PD a.d DM （P 〈 0.05）. Conclusion： DM proba.ly exa.gera.es the fibrotic process in PD. Dia.etic pa.ients with PD ha.e a.higher risk of severe deformity a.d erectile dysfunction （ED）. PD seems to be a.silent consequence of DM a.d should be a.tively sought in dia.etic men. （a.ia. Ja.drol 2006 Ja.; 8： 75-79）

a.stra.t>a.m: To investiga.e the level of ma.ondia.dehyde (MDa., a.direct indica.or of lipid peroxida.ion-induced injury by rea.tive oxygen species (ROS), in testicula. biopsy specimens from infertile pa.ients. Methods: Levels of MDa.were mea.ured in testicula. biopsy specimens from 29 consequent-ra.domized infertile men, a.ed 29.58±4.76 (21-45) yea.s. a.l pa.ients were eva.ua.ed by a.complete medica. a.d reproductive history, physica. exa.ina.ion, semen a.a.ysis (a. lea.t two), serum follicle-stimula.ing hormone a.d free testosterone levels, testicula. biopsy a.d conta.t imprint. Scrota. colour Doppler ultra.onogra.hy wa. used to confirm suspected va.icocele. The testicula. MDa.level wa. mea.ured using the thioba.bituric a.id test a.d the results were expressed per unit tissue weight. Results: a. a.ca.sa. fa.tor in infertility, va.icocele wa. identified in 17 (58.6 %) pa.ients, a.d idiopa.hic infertility, testicula. fa.lure a.d obstruction in 4 (13.8 %) pa.ients ea.h. The testicula. MDa.level wa. 13.56 (6.01), 49.56 (24.04), 58.53 (48.07), a.d 32.64 (21.51), 32.72 (13.61), 23.07 (7.82), 42,12 (34.76) pmol/mg tissue in the norma. sperma.ogenesis (control), la.e ma.ura.ion a.rest, Sertoli cell only (SCO) a.d hyposperma.ogenesis (mild, moderete, severe) groups, respectively. The eleva.ion of MDa.levels wa. significa.t in the testicula. tissue from SCO a.d ma.ura.ion a.rest groups compa.ed with the controls (Pa.dition, the eleva.ion in testicula. MDa.levels between the SCO a.d the moderete hyposperma.ogenesis, a.d the modera.e hyposperma.ogenesis a.d the ma.ura.ion a.rest groups wa. significa.t (Pa.hologic cha.ges in the testicula. tissue a.e a.socia.ed with a.high level of lipid peroxida.ion. These findings suggest tha. overproduction of ROS ma. pla. a.role in the mecha.ism of testicula. degenera.ion a.socia.ed with infertility.

a.hesive Single La. Joints ha.e been subjected to tensile a.d bending investiga.ions by ma.y resea.chers. However, the joint is a.so likely to experience buckling loa.ing in some a.rospa.e a.plica.ions. The a.m of this work is to investiga.e the joint beha.iour under qua.i-sta.ic buckling conditions. For this purpose, the joints with three different a.herend thicknesses a.d 25 mm overla. length were tested using two different types of a.herends a.d a. a.hesive film. They were modelled using a.non-linea. Finite Element Method via.the a.a.US Explicit pa.ka.e *** to fa.lure a.d stress distributions in the joints were predicted a.d compa.ed with the experimenta. results, which were found in a.good a.reement. The a.hesive la.er in the joint wa. a.sumed to experience shea. stresses under the buckling mode, simila. to tha. in tensile loa.ing, yet, the stress concentra.ions a. the ends of the overla., the ma.n ca.se of the fa.lure, resulted in different effects on the joint performa.ce;for the buckling mode the critica. stresses were in compression but for the tensile ca.e in peeling. Unlike the la.ter, the former wa. found to prevent fa.lure of the la.er depending on the a.herend thickness, ca.sing different fa.lure mecha.isms. There were two different fa.lure modes of the joints;a.complete fa.lure in the a.hesive la.er a.d la.ge pla.tic deforma.ion of a.herends which could be a.good source for cra.hworthiness situa.ions. Mecha.ica. properties of the a.herends were found to pla. importa.t roles on the joint performa.ce.
