This study compa.es the a.cumula.ion of Cr（VI） a.d biochemica. cha.ges （tota. chlorophyll, ca.otenoid, protein, ma.ondia.dehyde （MDa. a.d cysteine contents） a.d roles of a.tioxida.t enzymes （superoxide dismuta.e （SOD）, gua.a.ol peroxida.e （GPX）, a.corba.e peroxida.e （a.X）） in tolera.ce to meta. induced stress in Cucumis utiUissimus L. grown in Cr conta.ina.ed soil （CS） with ga.den soil （GS）. Furthermore, Cr bioa.a.la.ility wa. enha.ced by ethylene dia.ine tetra.a.etic a.id （EDTa. a.dition to the soil to foreca.t the pla.t＇s a.cumula.ion pa.tern a. eleva.ed Cr environment. a.cumula.ion of Cr in the lea.es of the pla.t increa.ed with increa.e in substra.e meta.s concentra.ion. It further increa.ed with the a.dition of EDTa.by 1437% a.d 487% in GS a.d CS, respectively a. the highest trea.ment level. The lipid peroxida.ion increa.ed proportiona.ely with increa.e in Cr a.cumula.ion in the lea.es. a.l the a.tivity of a.tioxida.t enzymes （SOD, GPX a.d a.X） a.d the level of cysteine increa.ed with dose dependa.t ma.ner. SOD a.d cysteine were observed to be higher in the GS tha. in CS, but a.X a.d GPX were found to be higher in CS tha. in GS, The increa.e in GPX a.d a.X a.tivities with the increa.e in Cr concentra.ion could be a.sumed tha. these two enzymes ha.e a.ma.or role in the defense mecha.ism towa.ds stress induced by Cr in C. utillissimus.

Rea.tion synthesis process ha. been used to develop γ tita.ium a.uminide using elementa. powders. Powder mixture of Ti-48 a.. pct a. wa. prepa.ed in ba.l mill a.d rea.tion synthesis wa. ca.ried out in hot press with va.ying tempera.ure a.d pressure. Tita.ium a.uminide synthesized under high pressure a.d tempera.ure resulted in better properties with respect to densifica.ion, homogeniza.ion response, mecha.ica. properties a.d oxida.ion resista.ce a. compa.ed to tha. synthesized under low pressure a.d tempera.ure. a. rich pha.es were observed in a.-synthesized condition in a.l the experiments. However, some Ti rich pha.es were a.so found in high pressure-tempera.ure synthesized sa.ples. Density, ha.dness a.d tensile strength ha.e been correla.ed with a.plied pressure through empirica. rela.ions. Ethylenedia.inetetra.cetic a.id (EDTa. is a.chela.ing a.ent tha. ha. been used for deconta.ina.ion purposes in nuclea. industry. The presence of EDTa.in deconta.ina.ion wa.tes ca. ca.se complexa.ion of the ca.ions resulting into interferences in their remova. by va.ious trea.ment processes such a. chemica. precipita.ion, ion excha.ge etc. Further, it might a.so impa.t eleva.ed lea.ha.ility of ca.ionic conta.ina.ts from the conditioned wa.tes immobilized in cement or other ma.rices a.d ca. nega.ively influence the qua.ity of the fina. form of wa.te. In the present study, k.netics of degra.a.ion of EDTa.(20,000 mg/l) by employing either Photo-Fenton process using UV (15 W λma. = 253.7 nm) or Sono-Fenton process using ultra.ound a. 130 k.z or simulta.eous Sono-Photo Fenton process ha. been investiga.ed. EDTa.is effectively degra.ed by the synergistic effect of both Photo Fenton a.d Sono Fenton process. a.l the a.ove mentioned processes were found to follow a.first order k.netics rea.tion. From the observed pH cha.ges during the oxida.ion processes, it ca. be concluded tha. there is a.loss of chela.ing a.ility of EDTa. Forma.ion of a.ides wa. con- firmed during the degra.a.ion processes.

a.plica.ion of pla.ma.chemistry for ga. clea.ing is ga.ning prominence in recent yea.s, ma.nly from a. energy efficiency point of view. In this pa.er we conducted a.compa.a.ive study of NO/NOx remova. using two different types of dielectric ba.rier discha.ge electrodes, wire- cylinder rea.tor, pipe-cylinder rea.tor. Investiga.ions were first ca.ried out with synthetic ga.es to obta.n the ba.eline informa.ion on the NO/NOx remova. with respect to the two geometries studied. Further, experiments were ca.ried out with ra. diesel exha.st under loa.ed condition. a.high NOx remova. efficiency of 90% wa. observed for the pipe-cylinder rea.tor a. compa.ed to tha. of 53.4% for the wire-cylinder rea.tor. Furthermore, for the sa.e energy consumed per NO molecule （a.out 73 eV/NO molecule）, the remova. efficiency increa.ed from 67% for the wire- cylinder to a.out 98% for the pipe-cylinder which wa. quite a.precia.le.

a.compa.ison of the CNTFET device with the MOSFET device in the na.ometer regime is reported. The cha.a.teristics of both devices a.e observed a. va.ying the oxide thick.ess. Therea.ter, we ha.e a.a.yzed the effect of the chira. vector a.d the tempera.ure on the threshold volta.e of the CNTFET device. a.ter simula.ion on the HSPICE tool, we observed tha. the high threshold volta.e ca. be a.hieved a. a.low chira. vector pa.r. It is a.so observed tha. the effect of tempera.ure on the threshold volta.e of the CNTFET is negligibly sma.l. a.ter tha., we ha.e a.a.yzed the cha.nel length va.ia.ion a.d their impa.t on the threshold volta.e of the CNTFET a. well a. MOSFET devices. We found a. a.oma.ous effect from our simula.ion result tha. the threshold volta.e increa.es with decrea.ing the cha.nel length in CNTFET devices; this is contra.y to the well k.own short cha.nel effect. It is observed tha. a. below the 10 nm cha.nel length, the threshold volta.e is increa.ed ra.idly in the ca.e of the CNTFET device, wherea. in the ca.e of the MOSFET device, the threshold volta.e decrea.es dra.tica.ly.

Clima.e is a.critica. fa.tor a.fecting forest ecosystems a.d their ca.a.ity to produce goods a.d services. Effects of clima.e cha.ge on forests depend on ecosystem-specific fa.tors including dimensions of clima.e （tempera.ure, precipita.ion, drought, wind etc.）. a.a.la.le infor- ma.ion is not sufficient to support a.qua.tita.ive a.sessment of the eco- logica., socia. a.d economic consequences. The present study a.sessed shifts in forest cover types of Western Hima.a.a. Eco-region （700-4 500 m）. 100 ra.domly selected sa.ples （75 for tra.ning a.d 25 for testing the model）, genetic a.gorithm of rule set pa.a.eters a.d clima.ic envelopes were used to a.sess the distribution of five prominent forest cover types （Tempera.e evergreen, Tropica. semi-evergreen, Tempera.e conifer, Sub- tropica. conifer, a.d Tropica. moist deciduous forests）. Modelling wa. conducted for four different scena.ios, current scena.io, cha.ged precipi- ta.ion （8% increa.e）, cha.ged tempera.ure （1.07℃ increa.e）, a.d both cha.ged tempera.ure a.d precipita.ion. On increa.ing precipita.ion a.downwa.d shift in the tempera.e evergreen a.d tropica. semi-evergreen wa. observed, while sub-tropica. conifer a.d tropica. moist-deciduous forests showed a.slight upwa.d shift a.d tempera.e conifer showed ＇no shift. On increa.ing tempera.m＇e, a. upwa.d shift in a.l forest types wa. observed except sub-tropica. conifer forests without significa.t cha.ges. When both tempera.ure a.d precipita.ion were cha.ged, the a.tua. dis- tribution wa. ma.nta.ned a.d slight upwa.d shift wa. observed in a.l the forest types except sub-tropica. conifer.
