Objectives: To cha.lenge the expiry da.es of low concentra.ion high purity mycotoxins sta.da.ds. Litera.ure Review: a.la.oxins (a.s) a.d Ochra.oxin a.(OTa. a.e persistent mycotoxins with a.verse effects on huma.s. Mycotoxins sta.da.ds a.e purcha.ed to determine mycotoxin concentra.ions in food a.d ma. be stocked in some la.ora.ories beyond expiry da.es ca.sing la.ora.ories fina.cia. losses. Methods: Certified mycotoxins sta.da.ds were purcha.ed over the yea.s from the sa.e supplier a. times a.d a. other times from two different suppliers for qua.ity control purposes. For a.s, six chroma.ogra.hic runs for ea.h of the mycotoxins sta.da.ds were done to compa.e the difference a.ong these sta.da.ds ha.ing the following expiry da.es (2008, 2012, 2013 a.d 2018). a.s sta.da.ds purcha.ed/obta.ned from two different suppliers in 2016 a.d expiring in 2018 were a.so compa.ed. For OTa. the difference of concentra.ion obta.ned between two yea.s (2010 a.d 2018) wa. tested. a.l sa.ples were run on a.HPLC equipped with a.fluorescence detector. Linea.ity of ca.ibra.ion curves a.d the points of lowest detection were determined for a.s components a.d for OTa.from the unexpired mycotoxins sta.da.ds. Results: a. a.0.05 significa.ce level a.d using non pa.a.etric tests, the sta.istica. test revea.ed a.p of 0.166, 0.153, 0.358 a.d 0.03 for B1, G1, B2 a.d G2 respectively a.ong yea.s for sta.da.ds from sa.e supplier a.d 0.037, 0.109, 0.182 a.d 0.182 for B1, G1, B2 a.d G2 respectively for unexpired sta.da.ds from two different suppliers. For OTa. a.p of 0.109 wa. obta.ned for sta.da.ds of different expiry da.es purcha.ed from different suppliers. Conclusion: High purity low concentra.ion mycotoxin sta.da.ds purcha.ed a.deca.e a.o (i.e. expired) did not differ from those purcha.ed this current yea. (still va.id). Hence, the expiry da.e ca. be renewed reducing the la.ora.ories expenses. Ma.ufa.turers a.e urged to reconsider the expiry da.es.
