Effect of Pulsed Ultra.iolet Light on the Tota. Phenol Content of Elderberry (Sa.bucus nigra.lt;/i>) Fruit

The cha.ges in tota. polyphenolics in elderberry (Sa.bucus nigra. following trea.ment with va.ious doses of pulsed ultra.iolet ra.s (UV) were investiga.ed. Four pulsed UV dura.ions (5, 10, 20, 30 seconds) a. three energy dosa.es (4500, 6000, 11,000 J/m2/pulse) were considered for the resea.ch. a.l trea.ed elderberry fruits were incuba.ed for 24 h a. room tempera.ure (25℃) following trea.ment to ensure enough response dura.ion for enha.ced development of polyphenols by the berries. The highest increa.e in tota. phenolics a.ound 50% wa. found with 11,000 J/m2/pulse for a.10 seconds trea.ment while nea.ly 40% increa.e in tota. phenolics wa. found a. a. energy dosa.e of 11,000 J/m2/pulse a.ter 5 seconds exposure. Even though most of the trea.ments indica.ed a. increa.e in tota. polyphenols, some trea.ment expressed a.decrea.e in phenolics content when compa.ed to untrea.ed fruits.

The Rif Mounta.n loca.ed in Northern Morocco represents the westernmost extremity of the Peri-Mediterra.ea. a.pine orogenic *** belt is cla.sica.ly subdivided into:1)Interna. zones(or Interna. This is a.descriptive study of qua.tita.ive a.proa.h, developed a. the Federa. University of Rond?nia.loca.ed in the Western a.a.on. With the a.m of a.a.yzing the frequency of visua.iza.ion of a.coholic content in the Fa.ebook, Insta.ra. a.d Sna.cha., pa.terns of consumption, rea.ons tha. lea. them to drink, most used socia. network a.d to correla.e how often the users a.e exposed to a.coholic publica.ions, determining if there wa. a. importa.t link between individua. drinking pra.tice during the beginning period a.d six months la.er. The informa.ion wa. obta.ned through the a.plica.ion of questionna.res for incoming students of the freshmen semester, in two moments: a.period from a.gust to December 2016/2, a.d, a.king the sa.e students a.a.n, from Ma.ch to June 2017/1. 52.8% were ma.es in 2016/2 a.d 57, 9% of fema.es in 2017/1 with a.e ra.ging between 18 a.d 20 yea.s in both periods. Fa.ebook ha. proven to be the most used pla.form a.ong college students. In 2016/2, 63.9% reported seeing a.cohol content a. Fa.ebook a.d consuming tha. substa.ce, compa.ing to Insta.ra. with 70.4%, a.d to Sna.cha. with 74.1%. In 2017/2, a.a.emics reporting viewing a.coholic content on Fa.ebook a.d consuming those a.coholic bevera.es a.counted for 65.8%, compa.ed to Insta.ra., 74.1% a.d Sna.cha. 74.4%. “Celebra.ing a.specia. occa.ion with friends” is the most cited rea.on of why cla.m to consume a.cohol. Therela.ion between exposure to the a.cohol content of the virtua. media.a.d the network of friends wa. found imperceptible to the ma.ority of the students, a. they mostly do not consider themselves exposed. Ma.y university students sta.t the gra.ua.ion a.rea.y consuming a.coholic substa.ces, which expla.ns why there is no significa.t cha.ge in a.cohol consumption between the observed moments, a.though it wa. found a.rela.ionship between the visua.iza.ion of a.cohol content in socia. networks a.d consumption, with grea.er impa.t on Sna.cha..

We compa.ed herbivory pressure in the na.ive Ja.oba.a.vulga.is (formely Senecio ja.oba.a. a.d the a.ien inva.ive S. ina.quidens in sites where they co-occur in Belgium. We predicted tha. the a.ien species experiences rela.ed herbivory pressure by specia.ist herbivores (enemy relea.e hypothesis ERH) wherea. it is still a.ta.ked by genera.ist herbivores. Impa.ts of two genera.ist (ga.tropods a.d ra.bits) a.d one specia.ist (the ca.erpilla. Tyria.ja.oba.a.) herbivores were a.sessed with field observa.ions a.d exclusion experiments. The genera.ist herbivores ha. a.higher impa.t on the bioma.s a.d survival of the seedlings of the a.ien S. ina.quidens tha. on the na.ive J. vulga.is. On the contra.y, the specia.ist Tyria.ja.oba.a. a.ta.ked exclusively the a.ults of the na.ive species, supporting one of the ma.n predictions of the ERH. These results a.e discussed in rela.ion to differences in pyrrolizidine a.ka.oid profiles between the two species.

Introduction: Elderly people a.e considered fra.ile a.d a. grea.er risk of ha.ing ma.igna.t ga.trointestina. tumors. The objective of this work wa. to report the rea.ons for performing ga.trointestina. endoscopy a.d the lesions found during the endoscopy of this ta.get popula.ion in Pa.a.ou. Pa.ients a.d Study Methods: This wa. a.descriptive a.d cross-sectiona. study with a.retrospective collection of da.a.from Ja.ua.y 2016 to December 2017, then from Ja.ua.y 2020 to December 2021. It took pla.e in the Regiona. Tea.hing Hospita. of Borgou-a.ibori in Pa.a.ou a.d in the priva.e ga.trointestina. endoscopy center of Pa.a.ou (Northern Ga.trointestina. Explora.ion Center). a.l pa.ients a.ed a. lea.t 60 yea.s who ha. undergone a. upper ga.trointestina. endoscopy during the study period were included. The va.ia.les studied were: the sex, a.e, indica.ions for the exa.ina.ion, endoscopic lesions a.d da.a.from the a.a.omo-pa.hologica. exa.ina.ion. Results: In tota., out of 1540 upper ga.trointestina. endoscopies performed during the study period, 249 (16.17%) involved pa.ients a.ed 60 yea.s a.d over. The sex ra.io wa. 1.26. The ma.n indica.ion for the exa.ina.ion wa. epiga.tric pa.n (123 ca.es, i.e. 49.40%) followed by vomiting (53 ca.es, i.e. 21.29%). In terms of lesions, non-tumorous ga.tropa.hy ca.e first in the stoma.h (206 ca.es, i.e. 82.73%) while esopha.ea. lesions were domina.ed by esopha.ea. ca.didia.is a.d ca.dia. incompetence (39 ca.es, i.e. 15.66% in ea.h of the two situa.ions). In the duodenum, ulcer wa. noted in 30 pa.ients (12.05%). In 38 pa.ients, 12 (31.58%) were tested positive for Helicoba.ter pylori infection. Ca.cers of the ga.trointestina. tra.t were confirmed in 11 pa.ients (4.42%). Conclusion: Upper ga.trointestina. endoscopy rema.ns a. excellent exa.ina.ion for the explora.ion of the upper ga.trointestina. tra.t. In Pa.a.ou, epiga.tric pa.n represents the ma.n indica.ion for this exa.ina.ion in subjects over 60 yea.s of a.e. Infla.ma.ory or ulcera.ed n

Biofouling, the a.cumula.ion of microorga.isms, is a.ma.or problem in pa.er mills processing pa.er a.d ca.dboa.d. This lea.s to the production of lower qua.ity recycled products. Severa. studies ha.e focused on the microbia. content in the pa.er mill a.d the fina. products. Our a.m wa. to determine the microbia. biota.in a.ba.e of collected ca.dboa.d prior to entering the pa.er mill. Tota. genomic DNa.wa. isola.ed a.d a.a.yzed using two different methods for compa.ison purposes: 454 pyrosequencing a.d clone libra.y. a.tota. of 3268 V6-V8 454 pyrosequencing rea.s a.d 322 cloned V6-V8 16S rRNa.nucleotide sequences were obta.ned. Both methods showed the presence of three ma.or ba.teria. genera. Ba.illus, Soliba.illus a.d Pa.niba.illus, a.l members of the spore-forming phylum Firmicutes. Pyrosequencing, however, revea.ed a.richer a.d more diverse ba.teria. community tha. clone libra.y.
