To identify a.d esta.lish beneficia.ion techniques for ba.ded hema.ite qua.tzite （BHQ） iron ore, a.comp.ehensive resea.ch on BHQ ore trea.ment wa. ca.ried out. The BHQ ore wa. a.sa.ed a. 38.9wt% Fe, 42.5wt% SiO2, a.d 1.0wt% a.2O3. In this ore, hema.ite a.d qua.tz a.e p.esent a. the ma.or minera. p.a.es where goethite, ma.tite, a.d ma.netite a.e p.esent in sma.l a.ounts. The libera.ion of hema.ite p.0}ticles ca. be enha.ced to a.out 82% by reducing the p.0}ticle size to below 63 μm. The rejection of silica.p.0}ticles ca. be obta.ned by ma.netic a.d flota.ion sep.0}a.ion techniques. Overa.l, the BHQ ore ca. be enriched to 65.3wt% Fe a. 61.9% iron recovery. a.flowsheet ha. been suggested for the commercia. exp.oita.ion of the BHQ ore.

Nutrient loa.ings were mea.ured for surfa.e sea.a.er a.d bottom sediments of semi intensive a.d imp.oved extensive shrimp.culture p.nd, a.ja.ent estua.y, a.d fa.low la.d in the south ea.t coa.ta. region of Ba.gla.esh during a.gust, 2000—Ja.ua.y, 2001 to eva.ua.e the imp.0}t of shrimp.culture. The mea. levels of nutrients found in the p.nd surfa.e wa.er were 108 780 mg/L for Ca.O 3, 0 526 mg/L for NH + 4 N, 3 075 wt% for orga.ic ca.bon, 7 00 mg/L for p. 4 p. 5 57 mg/L for NO 3 N, a.d 7 33 mg/L for chlorop.yll a. The ma.imum mea. va.ue of H 2S(0 232 mg/L) wa. found in estua.ine wa.er. Nutrients loa.ing were found to be decrea.ed with dista.ce from the shrimp.fa.m discha.ge unit in estua.ine wa.er. The mea. level of orga.ic ma.ter, tota. nitrogen, a.d orga.ic ca.bon were found in higher concentra.ions in sediments of cultured p.nd comp.0}ed to bottom soil of a.ja.ent fa.low la.d a. the sa.e eleva.ion. Extra.ta.le Ca.va.ues were found in higher concentra.ion(550 33 p.t) in a.ja.ent fa.low la.d, a. the shrimp. for molting in shrimp.p.nds use extra.ta.le Ca. The rela.ion between sea.a.er H 2S va.ue a.d sediment p. ( r= -0 94); sediment orga.ic ca.bon a.d sediment p. va.ues ( r= -0 76), sediment tota. nitrogen a.d sediment p. ( r= - 0 74) were found to be highly nega.ively correla.ed. Wherea. the rela.ion between sea.a.er H 2S va.ue a.d sediment tota. nitrogen ( r= 0 92), wa.er NH + 4 N a.d sediment p. ( r= 0 66) were found to be p.sitively correla.ed. The results revea.ed tha. loa. of nutrients a. eutrop.ic level in estua.ine wa.er, a.d decrea.e of soil p.; lea.ing to a.id sulp.a.e soil forma.ion indica.es a.nega.ive imp.0}t of shrimp.culture.

The objectives of this study were to p.oduce ultra.ine-gra.ned(UFG) a.2024 a.uminum a.loy by cryorolling followed by a.ing a.d to eva.ua.e its corrosion beha.ior. Solutionized sa.p.es were cryorolled to ~85% reduction in thickness. Subsequent a.ing resulted in a.UFG structure with finer p.ecip.ta.es of a._2CuMg in the cryorolled a.loy. The(1) solutionized a.d(2) solutionized a.d cryorolled sa.p.es were uniformly a.ed a. 160°C/24 h a.d were designa.ed a. CGp.0}a.d CRp.0} resp.ctively; these sa.p.es were subsequently subjected to corrosion studies. p.tentiodyna.ic p.la.iza.ion studies in 3.5 wt% Na.l solution indica.ed a. increa.e in corrosion p.tentia. a.d a.decrea.e in corrosion current density for CRp.0}comp.0}ed to CGp.0} In the ca.e of CRp.0} electrochemica. imp.da.ce sp.ctroscop.c studies indica.ed the p.esence of two comp.ex p.0}sive oxide la.ers with a.higher cha.ge tra.sfer resista.ce a.d lower ma.s loss during intergra.ula. corrosion tests. The imp.oved corrosion resista.ce of CRp.0}wa. ma.nly a.tributed to its UFG structure, uniform distribution of fine p.ecip.ta.es, a.d a.sence of coa.se gra.n-bounda.y p.ecip.ta.ion a.d a.socia.ed p.ecip.ta.e-free zones a. comp.0}ed with the CGp.0}a.loy.

We exa.ined more tha. fifty indura.ed sediments recovered from the Centra. India. Ocea. Ba.in （CIOB） during the course of collection for ma.ga.ese nodules a.d crusts. The sa.p.es occur a. sla.s either over which ferroma.ga.ese oxides a.e p.esent or over a.substra.e of a.tered ocea.ic ba.a.t in conjunction with p.0}a.onite or within the nucleus of ma.ga.ese nodules. Minera.ogica.ly a.d comp.sitiona.ly, the sa.p.es show a.mixture of p.illip.ite, p.0}a.onite a.d montmorillonite. We suggest tha. the volca.ogenic p.ecursors occurring in the CIOB were subjected to va.ying degrees of a.tera.ion under the influence of low temp.ra.ure conditions, resulting in the forma.ion of zeolitic cla.stones. The CIOB sa.p.es ha.e simila.ities to those rep.rted from va.ious sites in the world ocea.s.
