Objective: To a.a.yzethe FSH recep.or gene in women with ia.rogenic ova.ia. hyp.rstimula.ion syndrome (OHSS). Design: Clinica. a.d molecula. studies. Setting: University hosp.ta. a.d p.iva.e clinic. p.0}ient(s): Twenty- nine women who develop.d modera.e or severe OHSS a.ter ovula.ion induction for *** a.dition, 50 fertile norma. women were used a. controls. Intervention(s): p.rip.era. blood wa. used for DNa.extra.tion. The exons 4, 7, 9, a.d 10 of the FSH recep.or gene were a.p.ified by p.lymera.e cha.n rea.tion (p.R) followed by a.toma.ic direct sequencing. Ma.n Outcome Mea.ure(s): Hormona. results a.d a.toma.ic sequencing a.a.ysis. Result(s): Thirteen p.0}ients develop.d modera.e OHSS a.d 16 p.0}ients develop.d the severe form of the syndrome. a.toma.ic sequencing revea.ed no a.tiva.ing muta.ions in a.l p.0}ients studied. We found two known p.lymorp.isms in linka.e disequilibrium, a.a.07Thr a.d Ser680a.n, in 79.3% of the p.0}ients (44.8% in heterozygous a.d 34.5% in homozygous sta.e). These p.lymorp.isms were found with simila. frequency in the 50 norma. fertile women. Conclusion(s): We conclude tha. the FSH recep.or genotyp. did not p.a. a.significa.t role in the risk of ia.rogenic OHSS in this cohort.
