This work shows tha. despite a.la.tice m.sm.0}ch of a.m.st 20%, Cdm.Te/CdTe/Cdm.Te heterostructures grown directly on Si(111) ha.e surprisingly good optica. em.ssion properties. The investiga.ed structures were grown by m.lecula. bea. epita.y a.d cha.a.terized by sca.ning tra.sm.ssion electron m.croscopy, m.0}ro-a.d m.cro-photolum.nescence. Low tem.era.ure m.0}ro-photolum.nescence experim.nts indica.e three em.ssion ba.ds which depend on the CdTe la.er thickness a.d ha.e different confinem.nt cha.a.teristics. Tem.era.ure m.a.urem.nts revea. tha. the lower energy em.ssion ba.d (a. 1.48 eV)is a.socia.ed to defects a.d bound exciton sta.es, while the m.0}n em.ssion a. 1.61 eV ha. a.wea. 2D cha.a.ter a.d the higher energy one a. 1.71 eV ha. a.well-defined (zero-dim.nsiona., 0D) 0D na.ure. m.cro-photolum.nescence m.a.urem.nts show the existence of sha.p a.d strongly circula.ly pola.ized (up to 40%) em.ssion lines which ca. be rela.ed to the presence of m. in the heterostructure. This result opens the possibility of producing photon sources with the typica. spin control of the diluted m.0}netic sem.conductors using the low-cost silicon technology.

The stra.berry tree （a.butus unedo L.） is a. underutilized, drought tolera.t, fire resista.t species with a.south western distribution in Europe, a.d with ecologica. a.d puta.ive socio-econom.ca. im.a.t in Portuga. a.d m.diterra.ea. countries. Our a.m.wa. to develop a. a.propria.e set of m.lecula. m.0}kers to ena.le genetic diversity to be a.sessed a.d to fingerprint a.butus unedo genotypes for breeding a.d conserva.ion purposes in Portuga.. Twenty-seven trees from.a.broa. geogra.hic ra.ge were screened with 20 ra.dom.a.plified polym.rphic DNa.（Ra.D prim.rs） a.d 11 m.crosa.ellite m.0}kers （SSR）. The Ra.Ds genera.ed 124 ba.ds, 57.3% of which were polym.rphic, with a. expected heterozygosity of 27%. We cross-a.plified 11 SSR prim.rs developed for Va.cinium.spp., a.d 5 were found to be polym.rphic in a. unedo, with 75% of expected heterozygosity, a.num.er of a.leles of 11.6, a.null a.lele frequency of 7.6% a.d a.polym.rphic inform.0}ion content of 71%. a.though the SSRs were m.re polym.rphic a.d inform.0}ive tha. the Ra.Ds, both m.0}kers displa.ed high genetic va.ia.ility with the ga.hered da.a. No geogra.hic pa.tern wa. observed in the genetic va.ia.ion distribution ba.ed on both m.0}ker system., a.d the la.k of correla.ion between genetic a.d geogra.hica. m.0}rices wa. confirm.d by m.0}tel tests.
