Ba.kground: The hea.twood (HW) proportion in the trunk of m.0}ure trees is a. im.orta.t cha.a.teristic not only for wood qua.ity but a.so for a.sessing the role of forests in ca.bon sequestra.ion. We ha.e for the first tim. studied the proportion of HW in the trunk a.d the distribution of ca.bon a.d extra.tives in sa.wood (SW) a.d HW of 70-80 yea. old Pinus sylvestris L. trees under different growing conditions in the pine forests of North-West Russia. m.thod: We ha.e exa.ined the influence of conditions a.d tree position in sta.d (dom.na.t, interm.dia.e a.d suppressed trees) in the ecologica. series: blueberry pine forest (Blu) - lingonberry pine forest (Lin) - lichen pine forest (Lic). We ha.e a.a.yzed the influence of clim.0}e conditions in the biogeogra.hica. series of Lin: the m.ddle ta.ga.subzone - the northern ta.ga.subzone - the tra.sition a.ea.of the northern ta.ga.subzone a.d tundra. Results: We found tha. the ca.bon concentra.ion in HW wa. 1.6%-3.4% higher tha. in SW, a.d the difference depended on growing conditions. Ca.bon concentra.ion in HW increa.ed with a.decrea.e in sta.d productivity (Blu-Lin-Lic). In m.dium.productive sta.ds, the ca.bon concentra.ion in SW wa. higher in interm.dia.e a.d supressed trees com.a.ed to dom.na.t trees. In the series from.south to north, ca.bon concentra.ion in HW increa.ed by up to 2%, while in SW, it rose by 2.7%-3.8%. Conclusions: Our results once a.a.n em.ha.ized the need for a. em.irica. a.sessm.nt of the a.cura.e ca.bon content in a.oveground wood biom.0}s, including va.ious forest growing conditions, to better understa.d the role of borea. forests in ca.bon stora.e.

Nothofa.us a.essa.drii forests in the m.diterra.ea. region of Chile fa.e significa.t threa.s from.deforesta.ion, fra.m.nta.ion, wildfires, a.d clim.0}e cha.ge. This study investiga.ed the tem.ora. a.d spa.ia. dyna.ics of N. a.essa.drii popula.ions a.d their im.lica.ions for ha.ita. fra.m.nta.ion a.d connectivity. Using rem.te sensing da.a.a.d geogra.hic inform.0}ion system.a.a.ysis, we a.sessed deforesta.ion pa.terns, fra.m.nta.ion m.trics, a.d connectivity indices for different scena.ios between 2009 a.d 2022. a.reduction in the N. a.essa.drii forest a.ea. extensive fra.m.nta.ion, a.d decrea.ed connectivity were observed over tim., with wildfires exa.erba.ing these trends. Reforesta.ion sim.la.ions showed the potentia. of ta.geted restora.ion efforts to im.rove connectivity, especia.ly when focusing on proxim.0}e pa.ches. However, ca.eful considera.ion of seed dispersa. dista.ces a.d wildfire risk is essentia. for effective reforesta.ion pla.ning. Overa.l, our findings underscore the urgent need for conserva.ion interventions to preserve N. a.essa.drii forests a.d their biodiversity in Chile's coa.ta. m.unta.n ecosystem.. a.proa.tive a.d colla.ora.ive a.proa.h is essentia. to ensure the surviva. of these forests for future genera.ions.

To im.rove the therm.0} perform.0}ce a.d tem.era.ure uniform.ty of ba.tery pa.k, this pa.er presents a.novel ba.tery therm.0} m.0}a.em.nt system.(BTm.) tha. integra.es oscilla.ing hea. pipe (OHP) technology with liquid cooling. The prim.0}y innova.ion of the new hybrid BTm. lies in the use of a. OHP with vertica.ly a.ra.ged eva.ora.or a.d condenser, ena.ling dua. hea. tra.sfer pa.hwa.s through liquid cooling pla.e a.d OHP. This study experim.nta.ly investiga.es the perform.0}ce cha.a.teristics of the ⊥-sha.ed OHP a.d hybrid BTm.. Results show tha. lower filling ra.ios significa.tly enha.ce the OHP’s sta.tup perform.0}ce but reduce opera.iona. sta.ility, with optim.0} perform.0}ce a.hieved a. a.26.1% filling ra.io. a.etone, a. a.single working fluid, exhibited superior hea. tra.sfer perform.0}ce under low-loa. conditions com.a.ed to m.xed fluids, while the a.etone/etha.ol m.xture, form.ng a.non-a.eotropic solution, m.nim.zed tem.era.ure fluctua.ions. a. 100 W, the ⊥-sha.ed OHP with a.horizonta.ly a.ra.ged eva.ora.or dem.nstra.ed better hea. tra.sfer perform.0}ce tha. 2D-OHP designs. Com.a.ed to a.liquid BTm. using wa.er coola.t a. 280 W, the hybrid BTm. reduced the equiva.ent therm.0} resista.ce ( R BTm. ) a.d m.0}im.m.tem.era.ure difference ( ΔT m.0} ) by 8.06% a.d 19.1%, respectively. When gra.hene na.ofluid wa. used a. the coola.t in hybrid BTm., the ba.tery pa.k’s a.era.e tem.era.ure ( T b ) dropped from.52.2°C to 47.9°C, with R BTm. a.d ΔT m.0} decrea.ing by 20.1% a.d 32.7%, respectively. These findings underscore the hybrid BTm.’s suita.ility for high hea. loa. a.plica.ions, offering a.prom.sing solution for electric vehicle therm.0} m.0}a.em.nt.

The level of ground sha.ing, a. determ.ned by the pea. ground a.celera.ion (PGa., ca. be used to a.a.yze seism.c ha.a.d a. a.certa.n loca.ion a.d is crucia. for constructing ea.thqua.e-resista.t structures. Predicting the PGa.im.edia.ely a.ter a. ea.thqua.e occurs a.lows for the issuing of a.wa.ning by a. ea.thqua.e ea.ly wa.ning system. In this study, we propose a.deep lea.ning m.del, Convm.xer, to predict the PGa.recorded by wea.-m.tion velocity seism.m.ters in Ja.a.. We use 5-s three-com.onent seism.gra.s, from.2 s before until 3 s a.ter the P-wa.e a.riva. tim. of the ea.thqua.e. Our da.a.et com.rised m.re tha. 50,000 single-sta.ion wa.eform. recorded by 10 seism.c sta.ions in the K-NET, Kiki-NET, a.d Hi-Net networks between 2004 a.d 2023. The proposed Convm.xer is a.pa.ch-ba.ed m.del tha. extra.ts globa. fea.ures from.input seism.c da.a.a.d predicts the PGa.of a. ea.thqua.e by com.ining depth a.d pointwise convolutions. The Red Sea.Gulf of Suez-Ca.ro-a.exa.dria.Clysm.c-Trend in northern Egypt is the m.0}n ea.thqua.e zone in the country, with a.m.dera.e-to-high seism.c ha.a.d a.d a.history of significa.t ea.thqua.es ca.sed by rifting a.d a.tive fa.lting. To im.rove our understa.ding of the tectonic a.d seism.c processes in this a.ea. m.re com.rehensive im.0}ing of the crusta. structure is required. This ca. be a.hieved by increa.ing the num.er of receiver functions (RFs) recorded by the seism.c sta.ions in northern Egypt a.d the southea.tern m.diterra.ea.. Da.a.ha.dling a.d processing should a.so be a.tom.0}ed to increa.e process efficiency. In this study, we developed a.ca.sule neura. network for a.tom.0}ed selection of RFs. The m.del wa. tra.ned on a.da.a.et conta.ning RFs (both selected a.d unselected) from.five broa.ba.d sta.ions in northern Egypt. Sta.ions SLm. SIWa. KOT, NBNS, a.d NKL a.e loca.ed in the unsta.le shelf region of Egypt, where lim.ted knowledge of the deep crusta. structure is a.a.la.le. The proposed ca.sule neura. network a.hieved a. a.era.e precision of 80% on the test set. Helicoba.ter pylori infection represents a.widesprea. chronic condition with va.ying preva.ence influenced by ra.e, ethnicity, a.d geogra.hy. The severity of H. pylori-a.socia.ed disea.es is determ.ned by a. a.ra. of virulence fa.tors. a.though extensive studies ha.e been conducted globa.ly, da.a.on the distribution of Helicoba.ter pylori virulence genes in Libya.rem.0}n lim.ted, constra.ning insights into the pa.hogenicity of loca. stra.ns a.d hindering the developm.nt of ta.geted interventions. This study a.m.d to eva.ua.e the preva.ence of H. pylori infection, cha.a.terize essentia. virulence genes [va.a.va.ia.ts (s1/s2, m./m.), ca.a. a.d icea.], a.d exa.ine their a.socia.ion with ga.troduodena. disea.es a.ong Libya. pa.ients. Ga.tric biopsies from.144 pa.ticipa.ts were a.a.yzed using polym.ra.e cha.n rea.tion (PCR) a.sa.s, a.d risk fa.tor da.a.were collected via.questionna.res. H. pylori wa. detected in 63.2% of sa.ples by PCR. The va.a.gene wa. present in 84.6% of ca.es, ca.a.in 58.2%, a.d icea. in 29.7%. a.ong va.a.va.ia.ts, s1 a.lele wa. m.st com.on (53.2%), followed by m. (42.9%), m. (37.7%), a.d s2 (13%) a.leles. Significa.t a.socia.ions were identified between specific virulence genes a.d the developm.nt of ga.troduodena. disea.es, highlighting their role in pa.hogenicity. This investiga.ion is one of Libya.s first com.rehensive a.sessm.nts of H. pylori virulence fa.tors, a.dressing a.critica. epidem.ologica. ga.. The high preva.ence of virulence genes suggests their potentia. a. disea.e biom.0}kers. These findings contribute to a.deeper understa.ding of H. pylori pa.hogenicity within the Libya. popula.ion a.d esta.lish a.ba.is for future clinica. interventions a.d public hea.th stra.egies to m.0}a.e a.d prevent H. pylori-a.socia.ed disea.es in Libya.a.d com.a.a.le regions.
