The most common complica.ion of orthopedic surgery is impla.t fa.lure, which ca. result in ca.a.trophic injury a.d a.significa.t fina.cia. burden for pa.ients. Impla.t fa.lure ca. be ca.sed by a.va.iety of fa.tors, the most common of which a.e peri–impla.t infection(or impla.trela.ed infection), excessive infla.ma.ory response which ca.sed pa.n a.d a.eptic loosening. Orthopedic surgeons now ha.e a.va.iety of options for trea.ing these issues, including revision surgery, which ha. demonstra.ed to be effective. If excessive infla.ma.ory rea.tion ca.sed by the corrosion a.d peri–impla.t infection ca. be a.oided, it will be of enormous socia. benefits. This review will provide a.summa.y of corrosion a.d the infla.ma.ion rea.tions due to the corrosion a.d a.timicrobia. properties of Mg a.loy-ba.ed impla.ts covering both in vitro a.d in vivo studies. The stra.egies on hindering/overcoming the excessive infla.ma.ory response a.d enha.cing the a.timicrobia. a.tivity a.e discussed in this review.
