High performa.ce size exclusion chroma.ogra.hy （HPSEC） is used in wa.er qua.ity resea.ch prima.ily to determine the molecula. weight distribution of the dissolved orga.ic ma.ter （DOM）, but by a.plying pea. fitting to the chroma.ogra., this technique ca. a.so be used a. a.tool to model a.d predict DOM remova.. Six low specific UV a.sorba.ce （SUVa. source wa.ers were trea.ed using coa.ula.ion with a.um a.d both the source a.d trea.ed wa.er sa.ples were a.a.ysed using HPSEC. By compa.ing the molecula. weight profiles of the source a.d trea.ed wa.ers, it wa. esta.lished tha. severa. DOM components were not effectively removed by a.um coa.ula.ion even a.ter high dosa.e a.um trea.ment. a.pea.-fitting technique wa. a.plied ba.ed on the concept of linking the cha.a.ter （molecula. weight profile） of the reca.citra.t orga.ics in the trea.ed wa.er with those of the source wa.er. This wa. then a.plied to predict DOM trea.a.ility by determining the a.ea. of the pea.s which were a.signed to remova.le orga.ics from the source wa.er molecula. weight profile a.ter pea. fitting, a.d this technique qua.tified the remova.le a.d non-remova.le orga.ics. The prediction wa. compa.ed with the a.tua. dissolved orga.ic ca.bon （DOC） remova. determined from ja. testing a.d showed good a.reement, with va.ia.ce between 2% a.d 10%. This confirmed tha. this prediction a.proa.h, which wa. origina.ly developed for high SUVa.wa.ers, ca. a.so be a.plied successfully to predict DOC remova. in low SUVa.wa.ers.

Thera.eutic endoscopic retrogra.e chola.giopa.crea.ogra.hy (ERCP) is the ma.nsta. trea.ment for bile duct disea.e. The procedure is difficult per se, especia.ly when a.side-viewing duodenoscope is used, a.d when the pa.ient ha. a.tered a.a.omica. fea.ures, such a. colonic interposition. Currently, there is no consensus on the sta.da.d a.proa.h for thera.eutic ERCP in pa.ients with tota. esopha.ectomy a.d colonic interposition. We describe a.novel trea.ment design tha. involves the use of a.side-viewing duodenoscope to perform thera.eutic ERCP in pa.ients with tota. esopha.ectomy a.d colonic interposition. a.ga.troscope wa. initia.ly introduced into the interposed colon a.d a.ra.io-opa.ue sta.da.d guidewire wa. a.va.ced to a.dista.ce beyond the pa.illa.of Va.er, before the ga.troscope wa. withdra.n. a.sideviewing duodenoscope wa. then introduced a.ong the guidewire under fluoroscopic guida.ce. a.ter ca.nula.ion into the pa.illa.of Va.er, endoscopic retrogra.e chol-a.giogra.hy (ERC) revea.ed a.filling defect (ma.imum dia.eter: 15 cm) a. the dista. portion of the common bile duct (CBD). This defect wa. determined to be a.stone, which wa. successfully retrieved by a.Dormia.ba.ket a.ter complete sphincterotomy. With this trea.ment design, it is possible to perform thera.eutic ERCP in pa.ients with colonic interposition, thereby precluding the need for percuta.eous dra.na.e or surgery.
