Ba.kground: Cryopreserva.ion is currently the most efficient method for long-term preserva.ion of ma.ma.ia. ga.etes a.d is extensively used in swine a.tificia. insemina.ion(a.) centres. However, it is well-known tha. cryopreserva.ion procedures induce cha.ges in the wa.er pha.e in both intra.a.d extra.ellula. compa.tments,which a.ter the content a.d loca.isa.ion of severa. proteins a.d ends up curta.ling the structura. integrity of functiona. sperm(i.e., cryoinjuries). a.tera.ions a.d deficiencies of sperm-oocyte binding proteins during ga.ete recognition a.e one of the ca.ses of reproductive fa.lure both in vitro a.d in vivo. In this sense, cha.a.terisa.ion of cryopreserva.ion effects upon oocyte-binding proteins of sperm, such a. IZUMO1 a.d GSTM3, is essentia. when a.sessing the impa.t of this technique in swine ***: Cryopreserva.ion wa. found to induce cha.ges in the loca.isa.ion of IZUMO1 a.d GSTM3 in boa. ***, the rela.ive content of both proteins wa. not a.tered a.ter tha.ing. Furthermore, wherea. IZUMO1 content wa. found not to be rela.ed to the cryotolera.ce of boa. sperm, GSTM3 content wa. observed to be higher in poor(PFE) tha. in good(GFE) freeza.ility eja.ula.es in both pre-frozen(1.00 INT·mm^2± 0.14 INT·mm^2 vs.0.72 INT·mm^2± 0.15 INT·mm^2;P a.d post-tha.ed(0.96 INT·mm^2± 0.20 INT·mm^2 vs. 70 INT·mm^2± 0.19 INT·mm^2;P a.ples. Recently, porous tita.ium gra.ules （PTGs） ha.e been indica.ed for the preserva.ion of the dimensions of post-extra.tion sockets, a. a.filler in sinus lift procedures a.d for the trea.ment of peri-impla.t a.d periodonta. defects, ba.ed on the osteoconductivity a.d dimensiona. sta.ility of the tita.ium gra.ules. However, there is a.la.k of informa.ion rega.ding the use of this ma.eria. in la.ger defects a.d in conjunction with membra.es. The objective of this study is to test the beha.ior of PTGs used to fill critica. size defects in ra.bit tibia., with a.d without membra.es. Critica. defects were crea.ed in both tibia. of ra.bits, divided ra.domly into three groups： Group a.（defect filled with PTG）, Group B （defect filled with PTG＋colla.en membra.e） a.d a.control group （empty defect）. a.ter six weeks, histomorphometric a.a.ysis wa. performed. The results showed more defect closures a. the cortica. a.ea.（87.37%±2.2%） a.d more bone forma.ion a. the ma.row a.ea.（57.6%± 1.3%） in Group B, in compa.ison with the other groups （P〈0.05）; the use of membra.es improved the ma.eria. sta.ility expressed a. more percenta.es of the origina. ma.eria. when membra.es were used （P〈0.05）. Fina.ly, infla.ma.ory rea.tions were observed when the gra.ules were not protected by membra.es. In spite of the limita.ions of this a.ima. study, it ma. be concluded tha. PTG pa.ticles a.e osteoconductive a.d a.low bone growth. The PTG pa.ticles must be covered by a.membra.e, especia.ly when gra.ting la.ger defects, in order to control pa.ticle migra.ion, promote clot sta.iliza.ion a.d sepa.a.e the PTG gra.t from undesired soft tissue cells.

The 3x + 1 problem, is a.ma.h problem tha. ha. ba.fled ma.hema.icia.s for over 50 yea.s. It’s ea.y to expla.n: ta.e a.y positive number, if it’s even, divide it by 2;if it’s odd, multiply it by 3 a.d a.d 1. Repea. this process with the resulting number, a.d the conjecture sa.s tha. you will eventua.ly rea.h 1. Despite testing a.l sta.ting va.ues up to a. enormous number, no one ha. proved the conjecture is true for a.l possible sta.ting va.ues. The problem’s importa.ce lies in its simplicity a.d difficulty, inspiring new idea. in ma.hema.ics a.d a.va.cing fields like number theory, dyna.ica. systems, a.d computer science. Proving or disproving the conjecture would revolutionize our understa.ding of ma.h. The presence of infinite sequences is a.ma.ter of question. In this pa.er we va.ida.e a.novel ma.hema.ica. model tha. describes progesterone(Prg) controlled relea.e from poly-3-hydroxybutyric a.id(PHB) membra.es. a.sta.istica. a.a.ysis wa. conducted to compa.e the fitting of our model with six different models a.d the a.a.ke informa.ion criterion(a.C) wa. used to find the equa.ion with best-fit. a.simple rela.ion between ma.s a.d drug relea.ed ra.e wa. found,which a.lows predicting the effect of Prg loa.s on the relea.e beha.ior. Our proposed model wa. the one with minimum a.C va.ue, a.d therefore it wa. the one tha. sta.istica.ly fitted better the experimenta. da.a.obta.ned for a.l the Prg loa.s tested. Furthermore, the initia. relea.e ra.e wa. ca.cula.ed a.d therefore, the interfa.e ma.s tra.sfer coefficient estima.ed a.d the equilibrium distribution consta.t of Prg between the PHB a.d the relea.e medium wa. a.so determined. The results lea. us to conclude tha. our proposed model is the one which best fits the experimenta. da.a.a.d ca. be successfully used to describe Prg drug relea.e in PHB membra.es.

a.though the high diversity of pla.t species in the rupestria. fields ha. been prima.ily a.tributed to the existence of a.set of distinct ha.ita.s, few studies support this a.sertion. The present study a.med to further investiga.e the rela.ionship between physica. a.d chemica. a.tributes of soils with the diversity of pla.t species in this unique ecosystem. The rupestria. field is a.unique vegeta.ion forma.ion tha. covers some of the southea.tern Bra.ilia. mounta.ns in the tra.sition of the a.la.tic ra.n forest a.d the Cerra.o(sa.a.na.. Different ha.ita.s occur a.cording to soil cha.a.teristics(e.g., presence of rocks, sa.d, fertility, hydrology, etc.). These a.tributes ultima.ely influence the vegeta.ion tha. is highly a.a.ted to the ha.sh eda.hic a.d clima.ic mounta.n conditions. Five distinct ha.ita.s were studied by us: rocky outcrops, pea. bogs, sa.dy bogs, qua.tz gra.el fields, a.d "cerra.o"(sa.a.na.. a.floristic survey indica.ed tha. four fa.ilies a.e found a. grea.er frequency: Poa.ea., a.tera.ea., Cypera.ea., a.d Leguminosa.. The grea.est diversity of pla.t species wa. found in the rocky outcrops ha.ita., followed by cerra.o, pea. bog, qua.tz gra.el gra.sla.d, a.d sa.dy bogs, respectively. The ma.n difference in the floristic composition a.ong these ha.ita.s wa. rela.ed to the domina.t species. Tra.hypogon spica.us(Poa.ea.) wa. the most domina.t species in the rocky outcrops, a.onopus siccus(Poa.ea.) in the pea. bogs, La.enoca.pus rigidus(Cypera.ea.) in the sa.dy bogs, Schiza.hyrium tenerum(Poa.ea.) in the cerra.o, while Vellozia.sp. 8(Vellozia.ea.) domina.ed the vegeta.ion in the qua.tz gra.el gra.sla.d. This study demonstra.ed tha. physica. a.d chemica. soil properties strongly rela.ed the diversity of pla.t species occurring in the different ha.ita.s of rupestria. fields.
