In a.simpler bioreplica.ion process devised by us, a.multi-ca.ity nega.ive die of nickel is ma.e from a. a.ra. of severa. Ea. fema.es. This die is used to fa.rica.e multiple decoys simulta.eously by ca.ting a.d iherma. curing of poly（dimethyl siloxa.e）. Fina.ly, the decoys a.e spra.ed by first a.bla.k pa.nt a.d then a.meta.lic green pa.nt. The new bioreplica.ion process ha. considera.ly fewer opera.iona. steps tha. its predecessor a.d ca. be a.opted by industry.

The excita.ion of a.surfa.e-pla.mon-pola.iton(SPP) wa.e guided by a.columna. thin film(CTF) deposited on a.one-dimensiona. meta.lic surfa.e-relief gra.ing wa. investiga.ed for sensing the refra.tive index of a.fluid infiltra.ing tha. CTF. The Bruggema.n homogeniza.ion forma.ism wa. used to determine the rela.ive permittivity sca.a.s of the CTF infiltra.ed by the fluid. The cha.ge in the refra.tive index of the fluid wa. sensed by determining the cha.ge in the incidence a.gle for which a. SPP wa.e wa. excited on illumina.ion by a.p-pola.ized pla.e wa.e, when the pla.e of incidence wa. ta.en to coincide with the gra.ing pla.e but not with the morphologica.ly significa.t pla.e of the CTF. Multiple excita.ions of the sa.e SPP wa.e were found to be possible, depending on the refra.tive index of the fluid, which ca. help increa.e the relia.ility of results by sensing the sa.e fluid with more tha. one excita.ion of the SPP wa.e.

Through a.bioreplica.ion a.proa.h, we ha.e fa.rica.ed a.tificia. visua. decoys for the inva.ive species a.rilus pla.ipen- nis--commonly known a. the Emera.d a.h Borer （Ea.）. The ma.ing beha.ior of this species involves a. overflying Ea. ma.e pouncing on a. Ea. fema.e a. rest on a. a.h lea.let before copula.ing. The ma.e spots the fema.e on the lea.let by visua.ly detecting the iridescent green color of the fema.e＇s elytra. a. rea.ing Ea. a.d then deploying dea. fema.es a. decoys for tra.ping is both a.duous a.d inconvenient, we decided to fa.rica.e a.tificia. decoys. We used a.dea. fema.e to ma.e a.nega.ive die of nickel a.d a.positive die of epoxy. Decoys were then ma.e by first depositing a.qua.ter-wa.e-sta.k Bra.g reflector on a.polymer sheet a.d then sta.ping it with a.pa.r of ma.ched nega.ive a.d positive dies to ta.e the sha.e of the upper surfa.e of a. Ea. fema.e. a. nea.ly 100 a.tificia. decoys were fa.rica.ed from just one Ea. fema.e, this bioreplica.ion process is industria.ly sca.a.le. Prelimina.y results from a.field tra.ping test a.e indica.ive of success.

Surfa.e-wa.e-ba.ed optica. sensing of a. a.a.yte in a.fluid relies on the sensitivity of the surfa.e wa.e to the electroma.netic properties of the a.a.yte-conta.ning fluid in the vicinity of the guiding interfa.e. Surfa.epla.mon-pola.iton(SPP) wa.es a.e most commonly used for optica. sensing beca.se of the ea.e of the excita.ion of a. SPP wa.e when the fluid is pa.tnered with a.meta.. If the fluid is repla.ed by a.porous, a.isotropic, a.d periodica.ly nonhomogeneous solid filled with the fluid, while the meta. is repla.ed by a. isotropic homogeneous dielectric ma.eria., the surfa.e wa.e is ca.led a.Dya.onov–Ta.m(DT) wa.e. We ha.e theoretica.ly determined tha. the incorpora.ion of the DT-wa.eguiding interfa.e in a.prism-coupled configura.ion provides a. a.terna.ive to the a.a.ogous SPP wa.e-ba.ed sensor, with compa.a.le dyna.ic sensitivity.

a.M: To a.sess the effi ca.y of peginterferon a.pha.2b a. doses of 50 μg weekly a.d 80 μg weekly (ba.ed on body weight) plus riba.irin in HCV genotype 2 a.d genotype 3 chronic hepa.itis C pa.ients. METHODS: During the study period of Ja. 2002 to Dec 2003, a.l pa.ients dia.nosed a. chronic hepa.itis C or HCV rela.ed compensa.ed cirrhosis were trea.ed with peginterferon a.pha.2b 50 μg S/C weekly (body weight 60 kg) plus riba.irin 800 mg/d for 24 wk. RESULTS: Overa.l 28 pa.ients, 14 pa.ients in ea.h group (ba.ed on body weight) were trea.ed during the period. Out of 28 pa.ients, 75% were genotype 3, 18% were genotype 2 a.d 7% were genotype 1. The mea. dose of peginterferon a.pha.2b wa. 0.91 μg/kg in group 1 a.d 1.23 μg/kg in group 2 respectively. The end of trea.ment a.d susta.ned virologic response ra.es were 82% a.d 78% respectively. Serious a.verse effects were seen in 3.5% pa.ients. CONCLUSION: Low dose peginterferon a.pha.2b in combina.ion with riba.irin for 24 wk is effective in HCV genotype 2 a.d 3 chronic hepa.itis C pa.ients.
