microwave Study of Recycled ABS Resins

This article provides a review of the research unde rt aken in order to determine the suitability of utilizing microwave technology in the production of Recycled ABS Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene resin for mouldin gs. The experimental investigation determined the suitability of the existing re cycled ABS material, the mould material used with respect to performance and lon gevity, potential commercial plant and equipment, end mould compression. Introduction Frequency Characterization of ABS The first step in microwave processing of any material is to locate a frequency band suitable for the mateiial, where it absorbs microwave energy readily. To lo cate this band width, the ABS material was characterized in Variable Frequency m icrowave Ovens operating between the frequenc’y ranges of 2.5 GHz to 6.5 GHz an d 6 GHz to 18 GHz. The variable frequency microwave oven records forward and ref lected powers over regular intervals in the swept frequency range and enables ca lculation of Re flec tan ce=Re fla tan ce forwrd PowerForward Power (1) A low reflectance indicates that the material Forward Power absorbs rela tively higher amount of incident microwave energy. Wave Reflection by Rectangular Breakwaters for Coastal Protection

In this study,we focus on the numerical modelling of the interaction between waves and submerged structures in the presence of a uniform flow *** the same and opposite senses of wave propagation are *** main objective is an understanding of the effect of the current and various geometrical parameters on the reflection *** wave used in the study is based on potential theory,and the submerged structures consist of two rectangular breakwaters positioned at a fixed distance from each other and attached to the bottom of a wave *** numerical modeling approach employed in this work relies on the Boundary Element method(BEm).The results are compared with experimental data to validate the *** findings of the study demonstrate that the double rectangular breakwater configuration exhibits superior wave attenuation abilities if compared to a single rectangular breakwater,particularly at low ***,the study reveals that wave mitigation is more pronounced when the current and wave propagation are coplanar,whereas it is less effective in the case of opposing current.

Photocatalytic degradation of endocrine disruptor Bisphenol-A in the presence of prepared Ce_xZn_(1-x)O nanocomposites under irradiation of sunlight

Photocatalytic degradation of Bisphenol A （BPA）, a representative endocrine disruptor chemical, was carried out under irradiation of sunlight in the presence of CexZn1-xO nanophotocatalyst. Cerium （Ce） ions were successfully incorporated into the bulk lattice of ZnO by simple co-precipitation process. The CexZn1-xO composite nanostructures exhibited higher photocatalytic efficiency than pure ZnO in the degradation of BPA under sunlight irradiation and nearly complete mineralization of BPA was achieved. The degradation rate was strongly dependent on factors such as the size and structure of catalyst, doping material concentration, BPA concentration, catalyst load, irradiation time and pH levels. This work suggested that the CexZn1-xO assisted photocatalytic degradation is a versatile, economic, environmentally benign and efficient method for BPA removal in the aqueous environment.

Condensation Heat Transfer in Horizontal Non-Circular microchannels

This investigation contributes to a better understanding of condensation heat transfer in horizontal non-circular microchannels. For this purpose, the conservation equations of mass, momentum and energy have been numerically solved in both phases (liquid and vapor), and all the more, so the film thickness analytical expression has been established. Numerical results relative to variations of the meniscus curvature radius, the condensate film thickness, the condensation length and heat transfer coefficients, are analyzed in terms of the influencing physical and geometrical quantities. The effect of the microchannel shapes on the average Nusselt number is highlighted by studying condensation of steam insquare, rectangular and equilateral triangular microchannels with the same hydraulic diameter of 250 μm.

Comparative Analysis of Three Torbangun Clones (<i>Plectranthus amboinicus</i>(Lour.) Spreng) Based on Phenotypic Characteristics and Phenolic Content

Torbangun is a folk herb that has been used especially as a breast milk stimulant in North Sumatra, Indonesia. Plant bioactive compound composition is influenced by many factors such as genotype, geographical origin, and environment. Therefore, identifying plant clones with superior chemical composition is a necessity for optimal large-scale production. In this study, three clones of torbangun (hereafter referred to as A, B, and C clones) were analyzed through their phenotypic and foliar phenolic characteristics. The phenotypic results showed that the A clone was distinct from the B and C clones. Nevertheless, the result of multivariate analysis using phenolic data showed that these three clones had three distinct patterns of phenolic compounds. The B clone torbangun was identified as the best clone to be used in larger production scale due to its highest quantity of most phenolic compounds.

Background: Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) is one of the common endocrinopathies of women in the reproductive age group. Thyroid hormones have various effects on the reproductive system of female. PCOS and thyroid dysfunction are linked to each other since several years. Objective: To evaluate and detect the thyroid dysfunction in patients with PCOS attending in a tertiary care hospital in Bangladesh. methodology: This was a prospective cross sectional study conducted from November 2018 to October 2019 at Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology in Bangabandhu Sheikh mujib medical University (BSmmU), Dhaka, Bangladesh on one hundred and fifty (150) PCOS women of reproductive age (15 - 45 years). All data of the study subjects regarding socio-demographic, anthropometric and clinical manifestations were recorded accordingly. Their thyroid function tests (serum level of FT3, FT4, TSH) were done at the hospital laboratory and results were recorded. Result: mean (±SD) age of the study subjects was 24.57 ± 4.27 years. The maximum numbers [108 (72.0%)] of PCOS women were between 18 - 25 years age group. Among total (150) study population, 51 (34.0%) were overweight, 36 (24.0%) were obese and 63 (42.0%) were within normal weight level. Hirsutism was found in 87 (58%) study subjects while 24 (16%) subjects had acne in their face, 54 (36%) subjects had oligomenorrhea and 45 (30%) subjects had irregular periods. Among 150 PCOS women, 120 (80%) were married and 30 (20%) were single;of them primary infertility was detected in 58 (48.33%) women followed by the normal fertility status [51 (42.5%)] and 11 (9.17%) had secondary infertility. Among total (150) study subjects, 105 (70%) were in euthyroid state, hypothyroidism was found in 33 (22.0%) subjects and hyperthyroidism was detected in 12 (8%) subjects. Conclusions: Present study demonstrated that, thyroid disorders are prevalent in 30.0% of PCOS patients. Hypothyroidism is almost three-fold more prevalent than hyperthyroidism

Epidemiology of Helicobacter pylori Infection and Related Gastric Pathologies in moroccan Population

Helicobacter pylori （H. pylori） colonize the gastric mucosa of 50% of the world＇s population. This infection is closely associated with the development of peptic ulcer disease and gastric cancer. The present study was conducted to assess the prevalence of H, pylori infection in moroccan population and the risk to develop gastric precancerous lesions and gastric cancer. Totally, 298 patients were enrolled, 68 of asymptomatic subjects and 230 of patients with gastric diseases. Histological examination was effected to diagnostic gastric lesions and to detect H. pylori. ELISA was used to determine H. pylori status of patients. The prevalence of H. pylori within asymptomatic and symptomatic subjects was observed higher. A significant relationship was detected between H. pylori infection and the risk of gastric diseases （p-value 〈 0.0001）. A meaningful association between chronic gastritis increasing and age was observed （p-value = 0.03）. The risk to develop gastric cancer among infected patients was observed elevated with rate of 9%. Our results showed a high prevalence of H. pylori in both asymptomatic and gastric diseases patients. We noticed that chronic gastric infection increases with age. We remarked also that the risk to develop gastric cancer among infected patients was elevated in our population.
