This review explores glucose monitoring and management strategies,emphasizing the need for reliable and userfriendly wearable sensors that are the next generation of sensors for continuous glucose *** addition,examines key strategies for designing glucose sensors that are multi-functional,reliable,and cost-effective in a variety of *** unique features of effective diabetes management technology are highlighted,with a focus on using nano/biosensor devices that can quickly and accurately detect glucose levels in the blood,improving patient treatment and control of potential diabetes-related *** potential of next-generation wearable and touch-sensitive nano biomedical sensor engineering designs for providing full control in assessing implantable,continuous glucose monitoring is also *** challenges of standardizing drug or insulin delivery doses,low-cost,real-time detection of increased blood sugar levels in diabetics,and early digital health awareness controls for the adverse effects of injectable medication are identified as unmet ***,the market for biosensors is expected to expand significantly due to the rising need for portable diagnostic equipment and an ever-increasing diabetic *** paper concludes by emphasizing the need for further research and development of glucose biosensors to meet the stringent requirements for sensitivity and specificity imposed by clinical diagnostics while being cost-effective,stable,and durable.

Many biological structures such as nerves,blood and lymphatic vessels,and muscle fibres exhibit longitudinal ge-ometries with distinct cell types extending along both the length and width of internal linear *** these three-dimensional structures in vitro is challenging:the best-defined stem-cell differentiation systems are mono-layer cultures or organoids using pluripotent stem *** stem cells can differentiate into functionally mature cells depending on the signals received,holding great promise for regenerative ***,the integration of in vitro differentiated cell types into diseased tissue remains a *** scaffolds can bridge this gap if the appropriate signalling systems are incorporated into the ***,we have taken a biomimicry approach to generate longitudinal structures in *** this approach,mouse embryonic stem cells are directed to differentiate to specific cell types on the surface of polycaprolactone(PCL)fibres treated by plasma-immersion ion implantation and to which with lineage-specifying molecules have been covalently *** demonstrate the simplicity and utility of our method for efficiently generating high yields of the following cell types from these pluripotent stem cells:neurons,vascular endothelial cells,osteoclasts,adipocytes,and cells of the erythroid,myeloid,and lymphoid *** arranged plasma-treated scaffolds with differentiated cell types could ultimately serve as a means for the repair or treatment of diseased or damaged tissue.

Nanoscale graphene oxide sheets as highly efficient carbocatalysts in green oxidation of benzylic alcohols and aromatic aldehydes

Nanoscale graphene oxide(NGO)sheets were synthesized and used as carbocatalysts for effectiveoxidation of benzylic alcohols and aromatic *** oxidation of alcohols in the presence ofH2O2at80°C,the NGOs(20%mass fraction)as carbocatalysts showed selectivity toward *** rate and yield of this reaction strongly depended on the nature of substituents on the ***4‐nitrobenzyl alcohol,<10%of it was converted into the corresponding carboxylic acid *** contrast,4‐methoxybenzyl alcohol and diphenylmethanol were completely converted into thecorresponding carboxylic acid and ketone after only9and3h,*** conversion ratesfor oxidation of aromatic aldehydes by NGO carbocatalysts were higher than those for alcohol *** all the aldehydes,complete conversion to the corresponding carboxylic acids wasachieved using7%(mass fraction)of NGO at70°C within2–*** mechanisms for NGOcarbocatalyst structure‐dependent oxidation of benzyl alcohols and structure‐independent oxidationof aromatic aldehydes are discussed.

Photocatalytic activity of CuO nanoparticles incorporated in mesoporous structure prepared from bis(2-aminonicotinato) copper(Ⅱ) microflakes

An easy method for preparing CuO nanoparticles incorporated in a mesoporous structure was presented based on the thermal decomposition of a copper complex. The novel copper coordination compound of [Cu(anic)2]·0.75H2O (anic= 2-aminonicotinate) with the microflake morphology was synthesized through the reaction of 2-aminonicotinic acid (Hanic) and copper(II) nitrate. Using elemental analysis and Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy, the chemical composition of CuC12H11.5N4O4.75 was proposed. Calcination process at 550 °C for 4 h transformed the microflakes into CuO nanoparticles incorporated in a mesoporous structure. The FTIR peaks assigned to 2-aminonicotinate were completely removed after calcination, confirming CuO formation. X-ray diffraction (XRD) analysis also confirmed the generation of pure and crystalline CuO. SEM showed CuO nanoparticles with the average diameter of 75 nm. The diffuse reflectance spectrum (DRS) of the CuO nanoparticles showed a band gap energy of −1.58 eV. The degradation efficiency toward rhodamine B was almost 100 % after 5 h illumination when both CuO and H2O2 were utilized. The results show that the product can be used as an efficient photocatalyst for water treatment.

Techno-economic optimization of a sustainable system to cogenerate power and water for remote areas

In this study,a new water and power cogeneration plant,employing photovoltaic(PV)and photovoltaic-thermal(PVT)panels simultaneously,is designed and optimized for a village struggling to provide energy and potable water in *** system includes a solar energy unit to generate clean electricity and heat,and a reverse osmosis unit to produce drinking ***-economic optimization is performed by implementing a genetic algorithm,and a comprehensive water and energy management strategy is designed and presented in detail,expandable for future works.A new method,the logarithmic model,is used to calculate the depth of discharge(DOD)of lithium-ion batteries,which was previously a fixed and predetermined value in previous *** indices,the constraints of the optimization process,are also introduced to measure the reliabilities of different *** effects of the system components on total cost are investigated and a comprehensive sensitivity analysis is performed to find the best solution to increase the penetration of renewable-energy *** results reveal that considering the depth of discharge of batteries and water storage tank capacity as decision variables reduces the system’s life-cycle cost(by 5.1%for changeable DODs).Furthermore,the simultaneous use of PV and PVT panels decreases the life-cycle cost considerably by≤19%compared with the use of only PVT ***,the cost of the battery causes a decrease in the cost of electricity storage and the cost of producing and storing fresh water.

Robust nonlinear control for nuclear reactors using sliding mode observer to estimate the xenon concentration

This paper presents findings on the sliding mode controller for a nuclear reactor. One of the important operations in nuclear power plants is load following. In this paper, a sliding mode control system, which is a robust nonlinear controller, is designed to control the pressurizedwater reactor power. The reactor core is simulated based on the point kinetics equations and six delayed neutron groups. Considering neutron absorber poisons and regarding the limitations of the xenon concentration measurement, a sliding mode observer is designed to estimate its value, and finally, a sliding mode control based on the sliding mode observer is presented to control the core power of reactor. The stability analysis is given by means Lyapunov approach; thus, the control system is guaranteed to be stable within a large range. The employed method is easy to implement in practical applications, and moreover,the sliding mode control exhibits the desired dynamic properties during the entire output-tracking process independent of perturbations. Simulation results are presented to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed observerbased controller in terms of performance, robustness and stability.

Squamous cell carcinoma of hypopharynx in a patient with history of celiac disease

Celiac disease is a gluten-related malabsorption in small intestine occurring in genetically susceptible patients. In this disease the risk of many malignancies is increased the most important of which being non-Hodgkin lymphoma of small intestine. Other malignancies include adenocarcinoma of small intestine and squamous cell carcinoma of esophagus and melanoma. As to our knowledge so far only one case of ceJiac disease associated with hypopharyngeaJ squamous ceil car- cinoma has been reported. In this article we presented a patient suffering from celiac disease with squamous cell carcinoma of hypopharynx. She underwent chemotherapy and radiation therapy, unfortunately however she died because of progress of disease. So, in patients with celiac disease we should pay attention to various malignancies and when cases of cancers are accompanied by malabsorption we must think of celiac disease involvement.

Neural network based approach for time to crash prediction to cope with software aging

Recent studies have shown that software is one of the main reasons for computer systems unavailability. A growing ac- cumulation of software errors with time causes a phenomenon called software aging. This phenomenon can result in system per- formance degradation and eventually system hang/crash. To cope with software aging, software rejuvenation has been proposed. Software rejuvenation is a proactive technique which leads to re- moving the accumulated software errors by stopping the system, cleaning up its internal state, and resuming its normal operation. One of the main challenges of software rejuvenation is accurately predicting the time to crash due to aging factors such as me- mory leaks. In this paper, different machine learning techniques are compared to accurately predict the software time to crash un- der different aging scenarios. Finally, by comparing the accuracy of different techniques, it can be concluded that the multilayer per- ceptron neural network has the highest prediction accuracy among all techniques studied.

Osteoporosis:A Silent Disease with Complex Genetic Contribution

Osteoporosis is the most common multifactorial metabolic bone disorder worldwide with a strong genetic component. In this review, the evidence for a genetic contribution to osteoporosis and related phenotypes is summarized alongside with methods used to identify osteoporosis susceptibility genes. The key biological pathways involved in the skeleton and bone development are discussed with a particular focus on master genes clustered in these pathways and their mode of action. Furthermore, the most studied single nucleotide polymorphisms （SNPs） analyzed for their importance as genetic markers of the disease are presented. New data generated by next- generation sequencing in conjunction with extensive meta-analyses should contribute to a better understanding of the genetic basis of osteoporosis and related phenotype variability. These data could be ultimately used for identifying at-risk patients for disease prevention by both controlling environmental factors and providing possible therapeutic targets.

Pancreatic plasmacytoma is a rare entity & present with features of mass lesion of *** presented an interesting case of pancreatic plasmacytoma with severe abdominal pain and cholestatic *** case highlights the importance of considering pancreatic plasmacytoma in differential diagnosis of patients with cholestatic jaundice & abdominal pain and that not all pancreatic head mass are adenocarcinoma,so biopsy is advisable.
