Background:Individuals at risk of suffering cardiovascular disease(CVD) present with larger increases in blood trigyceride(TG) concentration after a high-fat meal than do healthy *** postprandial hypertriglyceride levels are an independent risk factor for *** of statins and a bout of prolonged exercise are both effective in lowering postprandial hypertriglyceride *** aimed to evaluate the comparative effectiveness of statins vs.a bout of aerobic exercise in reducing fasting and postprandial TG(PPTG) concentrations in indiv、duals at high nsk of developing ***:Thirty-seven sltudies from a systematic literature search of the PubMed,EMBASE,and Cochrane databases were included in this *** selected studies conducted trials involving statin therapy(n=20) or a bout of aerobic exercise(n=19) and measured their impact on PPTG levels as the *** studies analyzed both treatments and were included in *** meta-analysis was constructed using a random-effects model to calculate the mean difference(MD).The Student t test was used to compare the data sets for statins ***:Overall,statin and exercise interventions showed similar reductions in PPTG levels,with an MD of-0.65 mmol/L for statins(95% confidence interval(95%CI):-0.54 to-0.77;p <0.001) and-0.46 mmol/L for exercise(95%CI:-0.21 to-0.71;p <0.01).However,statins lowered fasting TG levels more than exercise(MD=-1.54 mmol/L,95%CI:-2.25 to-0.83;p=0.009).Conclusion:Although aerobic exercise is effective in lowering blood TG levels,statins seem to be more efficient,especially in the fasted state.A combination of exercise and statins might reveal a valuable approach to the treatment and prevention of *** studies are required to determine the underlying mechanisms and the possible additive effects of these interventions.

Minimally Invasive Pericranial Flap for Reconstruction after Endonasal Endoscopic Surgery of 30 Consecutive Patients

Objectives/Hypothesis: The introduction of intranasal pedicled flaps has reduced the incidence of postoperative cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) leaks to less than 5%. Nevertheless, in malignant tumors those flaps are not always available because of nasal septum invasion. Minimally invasive pericranial flaps (PCF) are associated with minimal adverse effects and good cosmetic appearance. In spite of that, there are only a few reports of this reconstructive technic limited to short surgical series and radio-anatomical analysis. Clinical results of a surgical cohort are presented. Study Design: Cohort prospective study. Methods: Clinical data, including age, gender, stage, histopathological findings, rate of complications and appearance of PCF at fifth day and two months postoperative were recorded. Postoperative morbidities were recorded as wound abnormalities, nasosinusal, orbital and central nervous system complications. Chi-squared test was used to correlate qualitative variables and Student-t-test to correlated qualitative and quantitative variables. Items were considered statistically significant with a p value of less than 0.05 (confidence Interval of 95%). Results: Thirty patients (18 males and 12 females) were registered. Mean age was 51.5 years ± 23.0 and range between 20 and 71 years. Most common histologic subtypes were adenocarcinoma, epidermoid carcinoma and squamous cell carcinoma. Complete resection of the tumor was achieved in all patients including surgical margins. Length of the PCF varies between 9.9 cm and 13.9 cm with a mean of 11.8 cm. There was an association between length of the flaps and the covering structure with the nose apex relation. None patient experienced postoperative cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) leak, frontal sinusitis or other complications. Conclusions: Minimally invasive PCF constitute a good and inexpensive reconstructive option in patients with malignant anterior cranial base tumors in whose nasoseptal flap was not a feasible option.

BACKGROUND: Low-frequency and high-risk situations, such as neonatal resuscitation, are the ideal targets for simulation-based learning. The aim of this paper is to present the structure of our internal neonatal resuscitation training program, using a realistic, simulated delivery room, and to present the participants' opinions about teamwork, emotional stress, and their subjective ability to face a resuscitation. METHODS: We administered a training course to 24 doctors and midwives. One of the simulation classrooms was modified to appear similar to a real delivery room. Four scenarios were conducted using a previously designed checklist of primary and secondary goals. Upon completion, all students participated in a debriefing session with the help of a video review. RESULTS: Students rated the achievement of their previously defined goals on a scale of 1 to 5. Grouping together the percentages of the highest ratings (Categories 4 and 5), 83.4% (20/24) of the students considered the course useful for acquiring clinical skills. For 87.5% (21/24) of the students, the scenarios simulated real clinical situations, the room properly simulated a real delivery room, and the course improved the students' ability to work in a team. For 66.6% (16/24) of the students, the course improved their stress in confronting neonatal resuscitation. Initially, only 33.3% (8/24) of the students considered themselves very capable or fully able to cope with a resuscitation. After the course, that percentage rose to 62.5% (15/24). CONCLUSIONS: The incorporation of simulation-based learning into neonatal resuscitation teaching programs, using realistic scenarios, is useful and offers the possibility of acquiring technical skills, but it also allows for the improvement of teamwork and the adoption of different roles and positive attitudes towards emotional stress.

Enhancement in coercivity values of precursor powders of cobalt ferrite embedded in silica xerogel as well as polyaniline was observed using vibrating sample magnetometry. We compared the magnetic properties of pure precursor powders of ferrite cobalt prepared by coprecipitation method and those embedded in xerogel and polyaniline matrix, prepared by sol-gel and by a conventional in situ chemical oxidation polymerization, respectively. The main magnetic effect is the altered coercivity value growing two magnitude orders for the precursor powders of cobalt ferrite embedded in silica xerogel and in polyaniline. The value goes from 52 Oe to 2200 Oe and 1054 Oe for pure coprecipitated precursor powder and embedded in silica xerogel, and embedded in polyaniline, respectively, without any heat-treatment.

With the objective to evaluate the properties, curatives of kombucha extract as an alternative treatment were used;20 sheep creoles weaned with stunting, respiratory diseases, parasitic and malnutrition were divided into control and experiment n = 10 groups;the first one was administered by ivermectin 1% (2 mg/kg) subcutaneous, with a reinforcement of closantel 5% (0.5 mg/kg) by oral route and enrofloxacin at 5% (3 mg/kg) intramuscularly for three consecutive days and the second group by oral route 20 ml of extract kombucha per animal each three days for about 4 months, was weighed at the beginning of each month;clinical tests were conducted and statistical data indicated no significant differences in weight gain 30.370 kg/p control, 31.290, 3.503 kg/p experimentally, some showed small differences in blood samples and in stool tests for example, control ended with Eimeria 1.00 ± 0.00, creatinine, 0.17 ± 0.04 mg/dl, uric acid 23.20 5.37 ± mg/dl, 46.12 ± 4.70 MCV, 7.21 ± 0.25 g/dl total protein, 38.20 10.06 ± 1.40 and segmented neutrophils ±1.07, and on the other hand the experimental in erythrocytes present 9783000.00 ± 1036072.17 million, in hemoglobin 13.43 ± 0.51 g/dl, hematocrit 38.87 ± 2.13, and platelet 422320.000 ± 52442.578 thousands. Both groups did not exceed normal parameters, however, physically the experimental animals were better and had no parasites or respiratory problems as opposed to controls.

The intertidal zone (also known as seashore) are transition areas between land and sea, that are greatly influenced by the tide cycle, therefore, environmental parameters, such as temperature and salinity, oscillate according to the periods in which these areas are exposed to air. Intertidal zones are highly diverse, which makes them key ecosystems for the development of sea life (both flora and fauna) exposed to drastic environmental change. The 59 visual censuses campaigns were carried out during the full moon of each month from 2015 to 2019. Temperature, salinity and dissolved oxygen were recorded during each visual census and showed variations between years. Temperature showed two distinct seasons, warm and cold. A total of 14,995 organisms were recorded, belonging to 30 species, 28 genera, 15 families, five orders and one class. Ecological indices like species richness (SR), Shannon-Wiener’s diversity (H') and Fisher’s alpha (α-Fisher) showed significant differences between years, 2015 and 2016 recorded as the most diverse years, while the lowest values were recorded in 2019. Therefore, fish communities of tide pools showed to be highly diverse, with 30 species recording similar relative abundances, and according to the BVI, only 11 species were dominant. Spatio-temporal variations of temperature, salinity and dissolved oxygen were highly correlated to changes in fish community structure, and the dominance of certain species, which are of great
