AIM: To analyze the national trends associated with body mass index(BMI) and living kidney ***: Forty-seven thousand seven hundred and five adult living kidney donors as reported to the Organ procurement and Transplantation Network from 1999 to 2011 were analyzed using their pre-donation BMI. predictor variables of interest included age, gender, ethnicity, relationship, education status, and transplant ***: Sixteen thousand nine hundred and seventyone of the living kidney donors were normal weight(35.6%); 19337 were overweight(40.5%); 9007 were mildly obese(18.9%); 1992 were moderate to morbidly obese(4.2%). Overweight and mildly obese kidney donors have increased through time by 12% and 20% every 5 years, respectively(p panic males or females and black females, those with high school diploma or general Education Degree, and biologically related or partner/spouses were more likely to be ***: Over the past 13 years, the majority of living kidney donors have spanned the overweight to obese categories. paralleling the national rise is an increase in overweight and mildly obese kidney donors. A fair number of moderate to morbidly obese living kidney donors are still allowed to donate.

Background: Acute otitis media (AOM) is an inflammatory disease of the middle ear causing significantmorbidity in early childhood. A pilot study was undertaken to identify the role of various risk factorsSouth Indian children with AOM, especially the role of nasopharyngeal ***: A prospective case control pilot study was conducted in children aged below six years,presenting to a single tertiary care from 2018 to 2019. Fifty cases with AOM and 45 age and gendermatched controls were recruited. Two nasopharyngeal swabs were collected, one was processed forbacterial culture. The other swab was processed according to the CDC recommended broth enrichmentmethod to identify carriage of S. pneumoniae. Subsequent serotyping was done by Quellung method andconventional sequential multiplex ***: Otalgia was the major presentation seen in 92% of the children with AOM. None of the clinical anddemographic characteristics were found to be statistically significant between the cases and controls. Themost common otopathogen was S. pneumoniae (55%) followed by H. influenza (29%). The commonS. pneumoniae serotypes encountered were 11A and *** colonization with S. pneumoniae[OR 6.57, p p p pharyngeal colonization ofotopathogens and AOM as a risk factor that is enhanced by co-colonization.S. pneumoniae was the mainotopathogen in this population, serotypes 11A and 19F being the most common.

Annona muricata fruit extract protects against diethylnitrosamine-induced hepatocellular cancer in rats

Objective: To evaluate the anticancer potentials of Annona muricata fruit by in vitro and in vivo methods. Methods: The ethanolic extract of Annona muricata fruit was prepared by Soxhlet extraction method and further fractionated with petroleum ether, ethyl acetate and chloroform. The fractions were tested for cytotoxicity, apoptosis, scratch wound assay, and cell cycle analysis. IC50, apoptotic index and percentage cell migration were determined using HepG2 cells. For the in vivo studies, hepatocellular carcinoma was induced by administering 0.01% diethylnitrosamine(DEN) in drinking water in Wistar rats. In pre-treatment, rats were co-administered 200 mg/kg of fruit extract with DEN for 14 weeks. In post-treatment, the extract was co-administered after 8-weeks of DEN-induction for 14 weeks. Liver function test, haematological test, oxidative stress markers, relative liver weight, number of cancer nodules and histopathological parameters were ***: Annona muricata fruit extract =significantly lowered cell proliferation counts. The chloroform-fraction possessed higher activity (IC50=(53.7±4.3) μg/mL)The chloroform fraction inhibited cell migration, which was significant compared to curcumin. Further investigations regarding the mode of anticancer activity revealed that the chloroform fraction induced apoptosis. The cell cycle analysis indicated that cells were being arrested at G0/G1. In the in vivo studies, the DEN-control group showed a significant decrease in body weights with increased mortality rate, hepatic nodules, and impairment of liver function compared to normal rats. The rats pre-treated and post-treated with the extract showed positive results with significant improvement in the parameters that were adversely affected by DEN. In addition, other adverse effects of DEN, such as blood dyscrasias and hepatic endogenous antioxidant, were significantly attenuated by Annona muricata fruit ***: The Annona muricata fruit extract has

Wireless sensor network(WSN)is an emerging technology which find useful in several application areas such as healthcare,environmentalmonitoring,border surveillance,*** issues that exist in the designing of WSN are node localization,coverage,energy efficiency,security,and so *** spite of the issues,node localization is considered an important issue,which intends to calculate the coordinate points of unknown nodes with the assistance of *** efficiency of the WSN can be considerably influenced by the node localization ***,this paper presents a modified search and rescue optimization based node localization technique(MSRONLT)*** major aim of theMSRO-NLT technique is to determine the positioning of the unknown nodes in *** the traditional search and rescue optimization(SRO)algorithm suffers from the local optima problemwith an increase in number of iterations,MSRO algorithm is developed by the incorporation of chaotic maps to improvise the diversity of the *** application of the concept of chaotic map to the characteristics of the traditional SRO algorithm helps to achieve better exploration ability of the MSRO *** order to validate the effective node localization performance of the MSRO-NLT algorithm,a set of simulations were performed to highlight the supremacy of the presented model.A detailed comparative results analysis showcased the betterment of the MSRO-NLT technique over the other compared methods in terms of different measures.

This paper studies the trauma narrative of Toni Morrison's novel, A Mercy(2008), using a cognitive narratological framework. The authors, in this paper, describe the response the novel elicits from the reader. And the paper argues that multiple focalization, polychronic narration, and representation of inconsistent information enable Morrison to depict effectively the devastating effects of trauma—whether sexual, socioeconomic, or racial—on individual personality. Various characters of multi-ethnic origins narrate the novel and certain events are told repeatedly from different vantage points. Thus, the narrative calls forth continuous efforts on the part of the reader to process the complex and bewildering information emerging from the novel's storyworld. A cognitive approach to the study of the novel provides an understanding of the behavior of the traumatized and the impact of slavery on black people's consciousness and identity. Moreover, the approach gives insight into the manner in which the narrative engages the readers cognitively in such a way that it enables their comprehension of the relationship between individual trauma and social forces of injustice and oppression.

The evolution of copulation frequency and the mechanisms of reproduction in male Anolis lizards

The evolution of many morphological structures is associated with the behavioral context of their use, particularly for structures involved in copulation. Yet, few studies have considered evolutionary relationships among the integrated suite of structures associated with male reproduction. In this study, we examined nine species of lizards in the genus Anolis to determine whether larger copulatory morphologies and higher potential for copulatory muscle performance evolved in association with higher copulation rates. In 10--12 adult males of each species, we measured the size of the hemipenes and related muscles, the seminiferous tubules in the testes, and the renal sex segments in the kidneys, and we assessed the fiber type composition of the muscles associated with copulation. In a series of pbylogenetically-informed analyses, we used field behavioral data to determine whether observed rates of copulation were associated with these *** found that species with larger hemipenes had larger fibers in the RpM （the retractor penis magnus, a muscle that controls hemipenis movement）, and that the evolution of larg- er hemipenes and RpM fibers is associated with the evolution of higher rates of copulatory behavior. However, the sizes of the seminiferous tubules and renal sex segments, and the muscle fiber composition of the RpM, were not associated with copulation rates. Further, body size was not associated with the size of any of the reproductive structures investigated. The results of this study suggest that peripheral morphologies involved in the transfer of ejaculate may be more evolutionarily labile than internal structures involved in ejaculate production.
