In clinical practice,the microscopic examination of urine sediment is considered an important in vitro examination with many broad *** the amount of each type of urine sediment allows for screening,diagnosis and evaluation of kidney and urinary tract disease,providing insight into the specific type and ***,manual urine sediment examination is labor-intensive,time-consuming,and *** machine learning based object detection methods require hand-crafted features for localization and classification,which have poor generalization capabilities and are difficult to quickly and accurately detect the number of urine *** learning based object detection methods have the potential to address the challenges mentioned above,but these methods require access to large urine sediment image ***,only a limited number of publicly available urine sediment datasets are currently *** alleviate the lack of urine sediment datasets in medical image analysis,we propose a new dataset named UriSed2K,which contains 2465 high-quality images annotated with expert *** main challenges are associated with our dataset:a large number of small objects and the occlusion between these small *** manuscript focuses on applying deep learning object detection methods to the urine sediment dataset and addressing the challenges presented by this ***,our goal is to improve the accuracy and efficiency of the detection algorithm and,in doing so,provide medical professionals with an automatic detector that saves time and *** propose an improved lightweight one-stage object detection algorithm called *** proposed algorithm comprises a local context attention module and a global background suppression module,which aid the detector in distinguishing urine sediment features in the *** local context attention module captures context information beyond the object region,

Constructing low-dimensional perovskite network to assist efficient and stable perovskite solar cells

The use of low-dimensional(LD)perovskite materials is crucial for achieving high-performance perovskite solar cells(PSCs).However,LD perovskite films fabricated by conventional approaches give rise to full coverage of the underlying 3D perovskite films,which inevitably hinders the transport of charge carriers at the interface of ***,we designed and fabricated LD perovskite structure that forms net-like morphology on top of the underlying three-dimensional(3D)perovskite bulk *** net-like LD perovskite not only reduced the surface defects of 3D perovskite film,but also provided channels for the vertical transport of charge carriers,effectively enhancing the interfacial charge transfer at the LD/3D *** net-like morphological design comprising LD perovskite effectively resolves the contradiction between interfacial defect passivation and carrier extraction across the ***,the net-like LD perovskite morphology can enhance the stability of the underlying 3D perovskite film,which is attributed to the hydrophobic nature of LD *** a result,the net-like LD perovskite film morphology assists PSCs in achieving an excellent power conversion efficiency of up to 24.6%with over 1000 h long-term operational stability.

Label-free biosensing with singular-phaseenhanced lateral position shift based on atomically thin plasmonic nanomaterials

Rapid plasmonic biosensing has attracted wide attention in early disease diagnosis and molecular biology ***,it was still challenging for conventional angle-interrogating plasmonic sensors to obtain higher sensitivity without secondary amplifying labels such as plasmonic *** address this issue,we developed a plasmonic biosensor based on the enhanced lateral position shift by phase *** singularity presents as a sudden phase retardation at the dark point of reflection from resonating plasmonic substrate,leading to a giant position shift on reflected ***,for the first time,the atomically thin layer of Ge2Sb2Te5(GST)on silver nanofilm was demonstrated as a novel phase-response-enhancing plasmonic *** GST layer was not only precisely engineered to singularize phase change but also served as a protective layer for active silver *** new configuration has achieved a record-breaking largest position shift of 439.3μm measured in calibration experiments with an ultra-high sensitivity of 1.72×10^(8)nm RIU−1(refractive index unit).The detection limit was determined to be 6.97×10^(−7)RIU with a 0.12μm position ***,a large figure of merit(FOM)of 4.54×10^(11)μm(RIU∙°)^(−1)was evaluated for such position shift interrogation,enabling the labelfree detection of trace amounts of *** targeted biosensing experiments,the optimized sensor has successfully detected small cytokine biomarkers(TNF-αand IL-6)with the lowest concentration of 1×10^(−16)*** two molecules are the key proinflammatory cancer markers in clinical diagnosis,which cannot be directly screened by current clinical *** further validate the selectivity of our sensing systems,we also measured the affinity of integrin binding to arginylglycylaspartic acid(RGD)peptide(a key protein interaction in cell adhesion)with different Mn2+ion concentrations,ranging from 1 nM to 1 mM.

Facile synthesis of hierarchical NaX zeolite from natural kaolinite for efficient Knoevenagel condensation

Zeolite catalysts have found extensive applications in the synthesis of various fine ***,the micropores of zeolites impose diffusion limitations on bulky molecules,greatly reducing the catalytic ***,we explore an economic and environmentally friendly method for synthesizing hierarchical NaX zeolite that exhibits improved catalytic performance in the Knoevenagel condensation reaction for producing the useful fine chemical *** synthesis was achieved via a low-temperature activation of kaolinite and subsequent in-situ transformation strategy without any template or *** characterizations reveal that the synthesized NaX zeolite has both intercrystalline and intra-crystalline mesopores,smaller crystal size,and larger external specific surface area compared to commercial NaX *** mechanism investigations show that the inter-crystalline mesopores are generated by stacking smaller crystals formed from in-situ crystallization of the depolymerized kaolinite,and the intra-crystalline mesopores are inherited from the pores in the depolymerized *** synthesis strategy provides an energy-saving and effective way to construct hierarchical zeolites,which may gain wide applications in fine chemical manufacturing.

Do brood parasitic Common Cuckoos develop brood patches during the breeding season?

Many birds develop brood patches on their ventral apterium under hormonal regulation to effectively transmit body heat to eggs during *** developed patch has several characteristics,including de-feathering,vascularization,and ***,little is known about whether avian brood parasites that do not incubate their eggs exhibit brood patch development during the breeding *** this study,we measured the size of the ventral apterium in 114 Common Cuckoos(Cuculus canorus)captured in the field throughout the breeding season and examined the appearance of the ventral apterium to confirm the development of brood *** also examined whether morphological traits and various factors correlated with the size of the ventral apterium(sternal apterium and abdominal apterium)and how it changed during the breeding *** found no clear signs of brood patch development in Common Cuckoos captured throughout the breeding season,indicating that they likely did not develop brood patches on the ventral apterium during this *** also found that ventral apterium size was positively correlated with wing length and body *** addition,Common Cuckoos with newly growing feathers on the boundary of the ventral apterium with pteryla were frequently observed as seasons progressed to the *** conclusion,Common Cuckoos exhibit neither brood patch development nor the vestigial characteristics of ancestral brood patches,except for the growth of feathers on boundary the ventral *** studies examining brood patches across different groups of avian brood parasites are valuable for enhancing our understanding of the developmental and physiological adaptations of avian brood parasites.
