The present work proposes kinetics of ionization-recombination to study the charge state distribution of Au plasma. The first step is to calculate the average lifetime, energy level structure, degeneracy and partition function of Au48+―Au52+ by relativistic quantum mechanics, and next to compute the equilibrium constant and the second-order recombination rate constant by statistical thermodynamics. Based on these data, the differential equations of consecutive reversible ionization-recombination reactions are solved from which the charge state distribution and its average charge are derived. Finally, the influence of electron temperature and density on average charge is given in this paper. It is called the first-principle theory, for no experimental data are needed.

The nano-silica/polystyrene composite particles were prepared and characterized according to the following steps. First, the nano-silica particles were pretreated with surfactants under ultrasonic field. Second, the dispersion polymerization of styrene in a water/ethanol (1/6, weight ratio) medium, with poly(N-vinyl pyrrolidone) (PVP) as stabilizer and 2,2’-azobisizobu- tyronitrile (AIBN) as initiator in the presence of nano-silica particles was initiated with N2 purging through ultrasonic irradiation by taking its advantages of multieffect, i.e. dispersion, crushing, activation, and initiation. Finally, the polymerization kinetics characteristics were studied, and the encapsulation of composite particles was investigated with optical microscope, SEM, TEM, FTIR, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), and differential scanning calorimetry (DSC).

The density uniformity of the foams used in inertial-confinement-fusion targets and Z-pinch loads is critical to understand the experimental *** average foam density used to be gravimetrically determined without providing any information on the density uniformity. This paper introduces a (?)-ray technology used to determine the density uniformity of foams. It shows that the (?)-ray technology can identify the spacial distribution of the density in a foam,thereby afford a new method for the process control in synthesizing foams.A comparison of the (?)-ray method with the gravimetry and the X-ray radiography is presented.

A lack of reliable data treatment method has been for several decades the bottleneck of viscosity measurement by disturbance amplitude damping method of shock *** this work the finite difference method is firstly applied to obtain the numerical solutions for disturbance amplitude damping behavior of sinusoidal shock front in inviscid and viscous *** water shocked to 15 GPa is taken as an example,the main results are as follows:(1) For inviscid and lower viscous flows the numerical method gives results in good agreement with the analytic solutions under the condition of small disturbance(a0/λ=0.02);(2) For the flow of viscosity beyond 200 Pa s(η=κ) the analytic solution is found to overestimate obviously the effects of *** is attributed to the unreal pre-conditions of analytic solution by Miller and Ahrens;(3) The present numerical method provides an effective tool with more confidence to overcome the bottleneck of data treatment when the effects of higher viscosity in experiments of Sakharov and flyer impact are expected to be analyzed,because it can in principle simulate the development of shock waves in flows with larger disturbance amplitude,higher viscosity,and complicated initial flow.

As an experimental technique, it’s desired that the temperature in specimen is uniform in high temperature split Hopkinson pressure bar (SHPB) experiments. However, the temperature in specimen decreases and the temperature of bars increases when specimen starts to contact with bars, which induces the nonuniform temperature distribution in specimen, and may result in inac-curacy of experimental results. In this paper, the temperature distributions of specimen and bars in high temperature SHPB experiments were investigated while the specimen was heated alone. Firstly, the temperature history of specimen was measured at different initial temperatures by ex-periments, then simulation was carried out. Simulation results were consistent with experimental results by adjusting the thermal contact coefficient between specimen and bars. By this way, the thermal contact coefficient and simulation results were validated, and the proper cold contact times of specimen and bars in high temperature SHPB experiments were discussed. Finally, the results were compared with those in references.

The piezomagnetic properties of rapidly quenched Fe73.5Cu1Nb3Si13.5B9 alloy strips were investigated in as-quenched state and after annealing for 2 h in vacuum in the temperature range of 100-300 ℃. The impedance of amorphous strips increases with frequency, and sensitively de-creases with stress increasing, especially in the frequency range of 10-100 MHz. The impedance in-creases approximately linearly with frequency below the critical frequency, but begins to decrease non-linearly with frequency above the critical frequency. The higher the point compressive stress is, the smaller the critical frequency will be. The stability of piezomagnetic properties is very excellent. The impedance of amorphous strips after annealing, especially at 300 ℃, decreases very strongly. The impedance and the absolute values of the sensitive degree of couple layers＇ amorphous strips are lower than those of single layer strips.

The effects of lanthanum-praseodymium-cerium mischmetal （LPC） on the microstructure and mechanical properties of Mg-Al alloy were investigated. With the addition of LPC, an additional rod-like Al11La3 phase was deposited in the alloy. LPC greatly improves the tensile strength of cast Mg-Al alloys but negatively affects the elongation of cast alloys above 473 K. Cast alloys are strengthened by both precipitation strengthening and dispersion strengthening at ambient temperature. When the temperature exceeds 473 K, only the dispersion operates as a strengthening mechanism.
