Discovery of seismites in Upper Sinian stratiform lead-zinc deposits in Dadu River valley, Sichuan, China: Implication for ore genesis

A number of lead-zinc sulphide deposits have been discovered in recent years in dolo- mitic rocks of the Upper Sinian Dengying Formation in the Dadu River valley region, Sichuan Province, China. The lead-zinc mineralization is closely associated with a black siliceous exhalite that has been traced over 50 km of strike. This makes Dadu River valley the most extensive stratiform non-ferrous sulphide horizon having been discovered to date in China. In a previous study by the first author (LIN), these deposits were recognised as belonging to the broad spectrum of lead-zinc sedimentary exhala- tive (SEDEX) deposits. In this paper, seismites and seismogenetic structures occurring in close association with the Dadu River valley mineralized zone are described. The close spatial and temporal relationship between the seismites and mineralization provides strong evidence for the hypothesis that the lead-zinc SEDEX deposits formed in direct response to earthquake activities around the Sinian-Cambrian boundary. The earthquakes are postulated to be an effective dynamic mechanism for triggering the upward migration of deep circulating ore fluids along synsedimentary growth faults and their exhalation onto the sea-floor to form the extensive deposits of stratiform lead-zinc sulphide ore.

Rapid progress in high-throughput biotechnologies (e.g. microarrays) and exponential accumulation of gene functional knowledge makes it promising for systematic understanding of complex human diseases at the functional modules level. Current modular categorizations can be defined and selected more specifically and precisely in terms of both biological processes and cellular locations, aiming at uncovering the modular molecular networks highly relevant to cancers. Based on Gene Ontology, we identifed the functional modules enriched with differentially expressed genes and characterized by biological processes and specific cellular locations. Then, according to the ranking of the disease discriminating abilities of the pre-selected functional modules, we further defined and filtered signature modules which have higher relevance to the cancer under study. Applications of the proposed method to the analysis of a prostate cancer dataset revealed insightful biological modules.

Structure and Magnetic Properties of Ni-doped ZnO Powder

Ni-doped ZnO nanopowder （Zn0.98Ni0.2.） was synthesized by improved coprecipitation method. The average particle size of the powder was estimated to be 50 nm. The powder was then processed by thermal treatment. Samples were annealed at 1 073, 1 2.3, and 1 473 K, respectively. The solubility of NiO in ZnO and the lattice parameters of ZnO both increased with the temperature. The magnetic property of the doped samples was examined, and hysteresis loops were got. The results showed all the samples were ferromagnetic, while powder processed at 1 2.3 K for 4 h got a highest saturation magnetization （Ms） of 0.0457 emu/g. Also, magnetic properties were related to the grain size of the powder.

The effect of the mixed rare earths of Ce on the phase transformation in ascast ZA 2. alloy during compressive was investigated under 37 MPa and at 16. deg C by X-raydiffraction technique and SEM. The results showed that the as cast microstructure of ZA 2.-RE alloyconsisted of a dendritic Al-rich alpha' surrounded by Zn-rich beta' phase, interdendritic epsilonphase and Zn-rich eta phase together with a complex Z phase which was a complex constitute compound,(RE,Cu)Al_5Zn_(16., dispersed in crystal interfaces or branch crystal interfaces and stable duringcompressive creep test at 16. deg C. The phase transformations of ZA 2.-RE alloy, decomposition ofbeta' phase arid four transformation, were delayed by the addition of rare earths, also the lamellarstructure and the spheroidized structure in ZA 2.-RE alloy were finer than in ZA 2. alloy duringcompressive creep test at 16. deg C at the same creep time, and the compressive creep resistance ofZA 2.-RE alloy was higher than that of ZA 2. alloy.

Solid backfilling mining technology, which decreases the height of fissure zone and caving zone, and alleviates the subsidence, is a new technology for farmland conservation. Based on the situation analysis of farmland destruction in mining area, three ways for farmland protection were proposed. In order to improve the feasibility of this technology, the limited filling materials should be used to increase resources recovery ratio, and then the surplus materials could be backfilled into goaf. An index, namely farmland conservation ability, was put forward to optimize the ways for farmland conservation. At last, the Wanbei coal mine was taken as a case for farmland conservation. It was shown that 32.0 t dull coal was substituted and 52.hm2.farmland was conserved by solid backfilling mining in this coal mine.

Investigation of changes in properties of water under the action of a magnetic field

The properties of water and their changes under the action of a magnetic field were gathered by the spectrum techniques of infrared, Raman, visible, ultraviolet and X-ray lights, which may give an insight into molecular and atomic structures of water. It was found that some properties of water were changed, and a lot of new and strange phenomena were discovered after magnetization. Magnetized water really has magnetism, which has been verified by a peak shift of X-ray diffraction of magnetized water + Fe3O4 hybrid relative to that of pure water + Fe3O4 hybrid, that is a saturation and memory effect. The properties of infrared and ultraviolet absorptions, Raman scattering and X-ray diffraction of magnetized water were greatly changed relative to those of pure water; their strengths of peaks were all increased, the frequencies of some peaks did also shift, and some new peaks, for example, at 5198, 8050 and 9340 cm?1, occurred at 2.°C after water was magnetized. In the meanwhile, the magnetized effects of water are related to the magnetized time, the intensity of an externally applied magnetic field, and the temperature of water, but they are not a linear relationship. The study also showed a lot of new and unusual properties of magnetized water, for example, the six peaks in 3000–3800 cm?1 in infrared absorption, the exponential increase of ultraviolet absorption of wave with the decreasing wavelength of light of 2.0–300 nm, the frequency-shifts of peaks, a strange irreversible effect in the increasing and decreasing processes, as well as a stronger peak of absorption occurring at 50°C, 70°C and 80°C, the existence of many models of motion from 85°C to 95°C in 8000–10000 cm?1, and so on. These results show that the molecular structure of water is very complicated, which needs further study. Ca（NO3）2.4H2., Eu（NO3）3 and H2.2.4·2.2. were adopted to synthesize CaO： Eu3＋ with the chemical co-precipitation method, and the effects of the calcination temperature and Eu3＋ doping concentration on the phosphor structure and its luminescent properties were investigated by TG-SDTA, XRD, and PL-PLE. The results confirm that the Eu3＋ ions as luminescent centers substi-tutes Ca2. sites without changing the crystal structure of cubic CaO. The optimum calcination tem-perature and the optimum concentration of Eu3＋ are 1 100 ℃ and 1 mol%, respectively, under which the best crystallinity and highest PL intensity appeared. The maximum emission wavelength is 592.nm （5D0→7F1） which is excited by xenon lamp with the wavelength of 2.0-2.0 nm, indicating that the Eu3＋ ion mainly locates in the symmetric position （Oh） in the crystal lattice of CaO.

Ni-Cu-Zn ferrite/CaTiO3and Ni-Cu-Zn ferrite/BaTiO3composites which can be applied in low temperature co-fired ceramic（LTCC） technology were synthesized by conventional solid-state reaction at temperature lower than 950℃.Influence of the microstructures and the gap parameterδ/D on the complex permeability of the above two composites was *** modifiedδ/D values of the above two composites show a good fit to the magnetic circuit *** dielectric properties of the composites were predicted by the Maxwell-Garnctt effective medium theory and the discrepancy between measured and calculated values was analyzed.
