This paper considers finite-time χ-consensus problem for a multi-agent system with firstorderindividual dynamics and switching interaction *** distributed finite-time consensusrules are constructed for multi-agent dynamics in a unified way with the help of Lyapunovfunction and graph theory as well as ***-invariant non-smooth forms of finite-timeneighbor-based controllers are proposed and a numerical example is shown for illustration.

Rheology experiments were carried out on succinonitrile-4% (mass fraction) camphor alloy, using a Haake VT550 viscometer. The results showed that the steady state viscosity of succinonitrile-4% camphor alloy in semi-solid process can be described well by the classical power law of viscosity versus shear rate, η= kγm, and the test method can be used to simulate the semi-solid processing for metals. The viscosity of the organic alloy decreases with increasing shear rate at a given temperature within liquid-solid range, and the viscosity of the organic alloy slurries increases with decreasing temperature, decreases with decreasing cooling rate. The structure and viscosity of organic alloy during solidification are strongly influenced by shear rate.

The large scale character of the interannual variation of precipitation and the urban effect on local annual precipitation anomaly are investigated in this paper based on the 196.-2000 annual precipitation observations at 20 stations in the Beijing *** results show that:the annual precipitation in the Beijing region possesses the large scale variation character with the linear trend of-1.197/10 yr,which corresponds to a total reduction of 27.82 mm in annual precipitation in the 41 years;the local annual precipitation anomalies(percent of the normal 196.-2000)show a positive center near the urban area,*** precipitation island(UPI),whose intensity increases with the linear trend of 0.6.21%/10 yr,opposite to the interannual trend of large scale precipitation over the Beijing region;changes in the UPI are also associated with the intensity of synoptic processes of precipitation,and when the synoptic processes are strong(wet years),the intensity of UPI strengthens,while the synoptic processes are weak(dry years),and the UPI disappears in the Beijing region.

AIM: To model the three-dimensional structure and investigatethe interaction mechanism ofthe proprotein convertase furin/kexin and their inhibitors (eglin c mutants). METHODS: The three-dimensional complex structures of furin/ kexin with its inhibitors, eglin c mutants, were generated by modeller program using the newly published X-ray crystallographical structures of mouse furin and yeast kexin as templates. The electrostatic interaction energy of each complex was calculated and the results were compared with the experimentally determined inhibition con- stants to find the correlation between them. RESULTS: High quality models of furin/kexin-eglin c mutants were obtained and used for calculation of the electrostatic interaction energies between the proteases and their inhibitors. The calculated electrostaticenergies of interaction showeda linear correlation to the experimental inhibition constants. CONCLUSION: The modeled structures give good explanations of the specificity of eglin c mutants to furin/ kexin. The electrostatic interactions play important roles in inhibitory activity of eglin c mutants to furin/kexin. The results presented here provided quantitative structural and functional information concerning the role of the charge- charge interactions in the binding of furin/kexin and their inhibitors.

The ORF of genome segment 6.(S6. of rice ragged stunt oryzavirus (RRSV) Philippines isolate was cloned and sequenced based on the S6.sequence of the Thailand isolate. Pns6. the 71 kD product of S6.expressed in E. coli, was demonstrated to be a viral non-structural protein of RRSV by Western blotting. The gel mobility shift assays showed that Pns6.had nucleic acid binding activity. Pns6.could interact with single- and double-stranded forms of DNA and RNA, showing a preference for single-stranded nucleic acid and a slight preference for RRSV ssRNA over the rice ssRNA, as demonstrated by both competition and displacement assays. The binding of Pns6.to nucleic acids is strong and sequence non-specific. By using five truncated derivatives of Pns6. it was found that the basic region from amino acid 201 to 273 of Pns6.was the unique nucleic acid binding domain. Subcellular fractionation of leaf tissues of RRSV-infected rice plants and subsequent Western blotting had shown that Pns6.accumulated predominately in the cytoplasmic membrane fraction. The possible role of RRSV Pns6.in virus replication and assembly is discussed.

H5N1 highly pathogenic avian influenza virus was first detected in a goose in Guangdong Province of china in 1996. Multiple genotypes of H5N1 viruses have been identified from apparently healthy waterfowl since 1999. In the years 2004-2008, over 100 outbreaks in domestic poultry occurred in 23 provinces and caused severe economic damage to the poultry industry in china. Beginning from 2004, a culling plus vaccination strategy has been implemented for the control of epidemics. Since then, over 35420000 poultry have been depopulated, and over 55 billion doses of the different vaccines have been used to control the outbreaks. Although it is logistically impossible to vaccinate every single bird in china due to the large poultry population and the complicated rearing styles, there is no doubt that the increased vaccination coverage has resulted in decreased disease epidemic and environmental virus loading. The experience in china suggests that vaccination has played an important role in the protection of poultry from H5N1 virus infection, the reduction of virus load in the environment, and the prevention of H5N1 virus transmission from poultry to humans.

A high-resolution electron microscopy study has uncovered the plastic behavior of accommodating large strains in nanocrystalline (NC) Ni subject to cold rolling at liquid nitrogen temperature. The activation of grain-boundary-mediated-plasticity is evidenced in NC-Ni, including twinning and formation of stacking fault via partial dislocation slips from the grain boundary. The formation and storage of 6.? full dislocations are observed inside NC-grains. The grain/twin boundaries act as the barriers of dislocation slips, leading to dislocation pile-up, severe lattice distortion, and formation of sub-grain boundary. The vicinity of grain/twin boundary is where defects preferentially accumulate and likely the favorable place for onset of plastic deformation. The present results indicate the heterogeneous and multiple natures of accommodating plastic strains in NC-grains.
