The present studies *** the pain-discharges of some of neuronsshowed responses of increasing frequency were stopped temporarily for a period of time by noxious stimulation administrated again and repeatedly basedon the pain-discharges, and then the discharges appeared onee more. Thesepart of neurons were named pain inhibition-excitation neurons (PI-EN). Thepurporse of this experiment was to prove the existenee of PI-EN in Pf andobserved the charaeteristies of eleetriel activities of PI-EN, 42 PI-EN in Pfwere recorded.

AIM: To study local therapeutic efficacy, side effects, andcomplications of radiofrequency ablation (RFA), whichis emerging as a new method for the treatment ofpatients with hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) withcirrhosis or chronic hepatitis and metastatic liver ***: Thirty-six patients with primary andsecondary liver cancers (21 with primaryhepatocellular carcinoma, 12 with colorectal cancerliver metastases and 3 with other malignant livermetastases), which were considered not suitable forcurative resection, were include in this study. Theywere treated either with RFA (RITA2000, MountainView, California, USA) percutaneously (n=20)orintraoperatively (n=16).The procedures wereperformed using the ultrasound guidance. The qualityof RFA were based on monitoring of equipments andsubject feeling of the practitioners. Patients treatedwith RFA was followed according to clinical findings,radiographic images, and tumor ***: Thirty-six patients underwent RFA for 48nodules. RFA was used to treat an average 1.3 lesionsper patient, and the median size of treated lesions was2.5 cm (range, 0.5-9 cm). The average hospital staywas 5.6 days overall (2.8 days for percutaneous casesand 7.9 days for open operations). Seven patientsunderwent a second RFA procedure (sequentialablations). Sixteen HCC patients with a high level ofalpha fetoprotein (AFP) and 9 colorectal cancer livermetastases patients with a high level of serumcarcinoembryonic antigen (CEA) have a great reductionbenefited from RFA. Four (11.1 %) patients hadcomplications: one skin burn; one postoperativehemorrhage; one cholecystitis and one hepatic abscessassociated with percutaneous ablations of a largelesion. There were 4 deaths: 3 patients died from localand system diseases (1 at 7 month, 1 at 9 month, and 1at 12 month), 1 patients died from cardiovascular shock,but no RFA-related death. Temperature, pH, enzymes and ions affected the two types of [H]tyrosine binding sites differently. The optimal temperature and pH for the high affinity sites were 24 C and 7.4, and for the low affinity sites 37℃ and 7.0, respectively. The [H]tyrosine binding to the high and low affinity sites was not observed at 55℃, nor at pH 6.0 or pH 8.5. Trypsin reduced [H]tyrosine binding to the high affinity sites, but had no effect on the binding to the low affinity sites. Neuraminidase reduced [H]tyrosine binding to the low affinity sites, but had no effect on the binding to the high affinity sites. None of cycloheximide, kCG, cAMP, and progesterone affected [H]tyrosine binding.

Objective: To study the potential role of macrophage migration inhibitory factor (MIF), tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α) and interleukin-6 (IL-6) in the development of chronic virus hepatitis B (CH) and hepatitis cirrhosis (HC). Methods: The serum concentrations of MIF, TNF-α and IL-6 in 18 patients with chronic virus hepatitis B and in 14 patients with hepatitis cirrhosis without as- citic fluid, and the serum and ascites cytokine con- centrations in 22 HC patients with ascitic fluid were detected by enzyme linked immunity sorbed assay. Results: The cytokine concentrations of the patients were significantly higher than those of the controls. The serum levels of MIF, TNF-α and IL-6 of the 22 patients with ascitic fluid were higer than those of 14 HC patients without ascites. In the 18 patients with CH, the serum cytokine concentrations were the low- est. The serum cytokine concentrations of the 22 HC patients with ascites were significantly higher than those of the 14 HC patients without ascites (P6 in ascites was the highest among all the groups. The serum le- vels of MIF, TNF-α and IL-6 are correlated with al- anine aminotransferase (ALT) in the patients with CH, but not in those with HC with or without asci- tes. Conclusions: These results indicated that MIF, TNF- α and IL-6 may participate in the pathological process of CH and cirrhosis, that IL-6 seems to play an important role in ascites formation, and that se- rum levels of MIF, TNF-α and IL-6 appear to reflect the severity of tissue injury in HBV disease.

BACKGROUND: Severe acute pancreatitis ( SAP) as acommon acute abdomen due to complicated causes is cha-racterized by lots of morbidities, difficult treatment, andhigh mortality. This study was designed to investigate therole of individually staged nutritional support (ISNS) in thetreatment of ***: One hundred patients with SAP admitted toour hospital from January 1997 to October 2002 were ran-domly divided into total parenteral nutrition group (TPNgroup, 50 patients) and individually staged nutrition group(individualized group, 50 patients), between which thetherapeutic outcome and the incidence of complicationswere carefully ***: Compared with the TPN group, the individuali-zed group had less complications (62 vs 94 patients) inclu-ding incubation related complications (2% vs 16%), super-infections (8% vs 30%), hepatic functional insufficiency(4% vs 24%) and intra-peritoneal infections (4% vs 12%),in addition to a sooner restoring of oral nutrition (18.5 vs24.8 days, P<0.05), a shorter hospital stay (24.5 vs 30.2days) and a lower hospital cost (4.1 vs 5.8 10 000 yuan, P<0.05).CONCLUSION: ISNS, which provides SAP patients withsufficient energy and nutrients according to their truepathological status, is an ideal nutrition planning with low-ered incidence of complications, shortened hospital stayand lightened financial burden.

The liver is the commonest site of distant metastasis ofcolorectal cancer and nearly half of the patients withcolorectal cancer ultimately develop liver involved duringthe course of their diseases. Surgery is the only therapythat offers the possibility of cure for patients with hepaticmetastatic diseases. Five-year survival rates after resectionof all detectable liver metastases can be up to 40 %.Unfortunately, only 25 % of patients with colorectal livermetastases are candidates for liver resection, while the othersare not amenable to surgical resection. Regional therapiessuch as radiofrequency ablation and cryotherapy may beoffered to patients with isolated unresectable metastasesbut no extrahepatic diseases. Hepatic artery catheterchemotherapy and chemoembolization and portal veinembolization are often used for the patients with extensiveliver metastases but without extrahepatic diseases, whichare not suitable for regional ablation. For the patients withmetastatic colorectal cancer beyond the liver, systemicchemotherapy is a more appropriate choice. Immunotherapyis also a good option when other therapies are used incombination to enhance the efficacy. Selective internalradiation therapy is a new radiation method which can beused in patients given other routine therapies Without effects.

Aim:To establish a simplified and reliable animal model of type 2 diabetic cardiomyopathy with low cost in Wistar ***:(1) Wistar rats were treated with 0.9% NaCl(Ctr),fat emulsion (HFD) (10 mL/kg/d) only, STZ (40 mg/kg per day for 3 d,i.p.) and both fat emulsion and STZ (HFD+STZ) for 40 *** those rats with fasting blood glucose (FBG) level was more than 16.7mmol/L were considered as diabetic rats;(1) FBG,TC,TG, HDL,LDL,FFA and MDA were evaluated;(2) In vivo LeadⅡelectrocardiogram (ECG) and heart function were measured by BL-420 Data Acquisition and Analysis ***,PR interval,width and height of T wave and P wave,QTc,heart rate (HR),left ventricular end-systolic pressure (LVESP),left ventricular end-diastolic pressure (LVEDP) and maximum change velocity of left ventricular pressure in the isovolumic contraction or relaxation period (±dp/dt) were measured;(3) HE and messon staining of heart were performed for morphologic assessment. Results:In type 2 diabetic rats:(1) FBG,TC,TG,LDL,FFA and MDA were significantly increased and HDL was decreased;(2) The HR,LVESP,LVEDP and±dp/dt were significantly decreased in type 2 diabetic *** width of P wave,PR and QT interval were significantly prolonged (P<0.05).The height of T wave was overtly elevated;(3) HE and masson staining shows that morphologic remodeling have happened in type 2 diabetic rats. Conclusion:We have established a type 2 diabetic cardiomyopathy animal model in Wistar rats by gavage special fat emulsion,which was different from cardiomyopathy characteristics induced by STZ only.

Primary and secondary malignant liver cancer are some of most common malignant tumors in the world. Chemotherapy and radiotherapy are not very effective against them. Surgical resection has been considered the only potentially curtive option, but the majority of patients are not candidates for resection because of tumor size, location near major intrahepatic blood vessels and bile ducts, precluding a margin-negative resection, cirrhotic, hepatitis virus infection or multifocial. Radiofrequence ablation (RFA), which is a new evolving effective and minimally invasive technique, can produce coagulative necrosis of malignant tumors. RFA should be used percutaneously, laparascopically, or during the open laparotomy under the guidance of ultrasound, CT scan and MRI. RFA has lots of advantages superior to other local therapies including lower complications, reduced costs and hospital stays, and the possibility of repeated treatment. In general, RFA is a safe, effective treatment for unresectable malignant liver tumors less than 7.0 cm in diameter. We review the principle, mechanism, procedures and experience with RFA for treating malignant liver tumors.
