The TiNw-AINp/Al composite has been successfully fabricated by gas-liquid reaction method in an intensive electromagnetic mixing and casting in an appropriate cooling condition. The as-cast samples of the composite exhibit a homogeneous distribution of TiNw and AINp, and the in situ formed TiN whisker has a mean diameter of 0.5.μm and mean aspect ratio of 5.8~7.5. and the diameter of the AIN particulates is less than 5.μm. TEM observation indicates that there exist some submicron and nanometer sized in situ formed TiNw-AINp in α-Al matrix. The formation mechanism of in situ formed TiNw and AINp is also discussed

The dependences of the power loss per cycle on frequency have been investigated in the ranges of 100 Hz5.00 Hz and 0.1 T5.kHz depending on both the magnetic state and the value of Dm, whereas it showed a quasi-linear behavior above this range. The total loss was decomposed into hysteresis loss, classical eddy current loss and excess loss, the obvious nonlinear behavior has been confirmed to be completely determined by the dependence of the excess loss on frequency. It has been indicated that the change rate of the excess loss per cycle with respect to frequency sharp decreases with increasing frequency in the range below about 3 kHz～5.kHz, wherease the rate of change slowly varies above this range, thus leading to the quasilinear behavior of the total loss per cycle. In this paper, some linear expressions of the total loss per cycle has been given in a wider medium-frequency segment, which can be used for roughly estimating the total loss.

There is doubt about Dempster's rule of combination because of counter-intuitive results when dealing with conflict information in intelligent ***,many modified combination rules have been presented in the literature on multi-source information fusion and reasoning with ***,the issue of identifying conflict among evidence has been ignored.A new parameter measuring conflict evidence called the conflict distance parameter is defined to determine whether there are conflicts in evidence based on the analysis of existing conflict *** the same time,a decisive rule,which a reasonable conflict measure function should satisfy,is put ***,an analysis of two typical counter-intuitive situations is given,showing that the new parameter can not only satisfy the decisive rule,but can also attain the same effect as a two-dimensional measure when deciding whether to use the Dempster's rule of combination,and can exceed its effect when deciding whether to use Dezert-Smarandache theory.

In order to improve the performances of CdZnTe 7-ray detector, it is key issue to get the crystal with high quality. Equilibrium partial pressures, pCd and pZn, over Cd1-xZnx melt were estimated based on thermodynamic relationship and then Cd0.9Zn0.1Te wafers were annealed under controlled Cd/Zn partial pressures provided by Cd1-xZnx alloy reservoir. The experimental results show that when CdZnTe wafers are annealed under the equilibrium partial pressures provided by Cd0.99Zn0.01 alloy reservoir for 5.days or more at 1073 K, the resistivity of the wafer can be raised by 6 times and IR transmittance raised by 10% or more, the size and density of Te precipitates are greatly reduced. Moreover, losing of Zn from the surface can be avoided, which Ieads to improvement of the Zn radial distribution. In addition, the relationship between the electrical performances of the wafers and different controlled pressures is also discussed.

AIM: To investigate the regulatory effect of paclitaxel on proliferation and apoptosis in human acute leukemia HL- 60 cells. METHODS: HL-60 cell growth was measured by 3-(4.5.dimethylthiazol-2-yl)-2,5.diphenyl tertrazolium bromide (MTT) colorimetric assay. Cell cycle kinetics and apoptosis were analyzed by flow cytometry and micro- scopic examination. In addition, DNA microarrays containing 14.00 EST elements were used to investigate the gene expression pattern of HL-60 cells exposed to paclitaxel 1 μmol/L. RESULTS: Paclitaxel inhibited HL-60 cell growth significantly in a dose-dependent and time-dependent manner (P4.00 EST elements, 277 genes were found to be markedly up- or down-expressed in the HL-60 cells treated with paclitaxel 1 μmol/L for 0.5.h, comprising 210 known genes and 67 unknown genes. CONCLUSION: Paclitaxel suppresses the growth of HL-60 cells in vitro by causing cell-cycle arrest and apoptosis. The results of microarray suggest that paclitaxel initiates apoptosis through multiple mechanisms.

The cucumber lines, S94.(Northern china open-field type, powdery mildew (PM) susceptible) and S06 (European greenhouse type, PM resistant), and their F6:7 populations were used to investigate PM re-sistance under seedling spray inoculation in 2005.Autumn and 2006/Spring. QTL analysis was under-taken based on a constructed molecular linkage map of the corresponding F6 population using com-posite interval mapping. A total of four QTLs (pm1.1, pm2.1, pm4.1 and pm6.1) for PM resistance were identified and located on LG 1, 2, 4.and 6, respectively, explaining 5.2%-21.0% of the phenotypic variation. Three consistent QTLs (pm1.1, pm2.1 and pm4.1) were detected under the two test conditions. The QTL pm6.1 was only identified in 2005.Autumn. The total phenotypic variation explained by the QTLs was 5..0% and 4..0% in 2005.Autumn and 2006/Spring, respectively. Anchor markers tightly linked to those loci (5.cM) could lay a basis for both molecular marker-assisted breeding and map-based gene cloning of the PM-resistance gene in cucumber.

AISI 304.stainless steel was ion implanted with Co, and the tribological property on the surface of the stainless steelwas investigated. The Co ion implantation was carried out using a metal vapor vacuum arc (Mevva) broad-beam ionsource with an extraction voltage of 4. kV, implantation doses of 3×10^(17)/cm^2 and 5.10^(17)/cm^2, and ion currentdensities of 13, 22 and 32μA/cm^2. The results showed that the near-surface hardness of Co-implanted stainless steelsample was increased by 5.% or more, and it increased with increasing ion current density at first and then declined.The friction coefficient decreased from 0.74.to 0.20 after Co implantation. The wear rate after Co implantationreduced by 25. or more as compared to the unimplanted sample. The wear rate initially decreased with increasingion current density and then an increase was observed. Within the range of experimental parameters, there existsa critical ion current density for the Co-implanted stainless steel, at which the wear rate decreased with increasingretained dose, going through a minimum and then increased. The critical ion current density in this paper is about22μA/cm^2.
