THE PALEOCURRENT PATTERN OF EARLY TERTIARY REDBEDS IN THE HOH XIL BASIN,NORTHERN TIBET PLATEAU:IMPLICATIONS FOR AN EARLY UPLIFT AND UNROOFING

We focus on early Cenozoic uplift, erosion and growth of northern Tibet plateau by reconstructing paleo\|drainage pattern in the Hoh Xil basin. Stratigraphical infilling sequences and lithic type orogenic basins are determined largely by contemporaneous tectonic activity. It is therefore reasonable to infer that paleoflow variability record give useful information about regional tectonic events. We now report paleocurrent data from outcrop measurement of 4 expedition profiles across the basin during 1997—*** west\|east trending Hoh Xil basin is the largest redbeds basin in northern Tibet plateau. It is 400km in axial length and has maximum width of 2.0km, which extends along Jin zone, separated the Qiangtang from the Bayankara block. It accommodates more than 5.00m of terrestrial sediments during the Eocene to Oligocene dated by preliminary magnetostratigraphy and minor *** sedimentological observation and lithic facies associations analysis of the Eocene Fenghuoshan Group show to have evolved vertically from alluvial fan system in the lowest part, into stacked megasequences of coarsening\|upward fan\|delta system in the middle and upper part. The braided fluvial conglomeratic deposits occur at intervals along the basin margin and grade basin ward interbedded sandstone and mudstone. The Oligocene Yaxicuo Group is locally present and forms as laterally elongate sub\|basins, which is of a maximum thickness of 2.00m, as seen in the Wudaoliang and the Hantaishan area. Alluvial fan associations in this sub\|basin in the proximal part adjacent to the southern faulted border and prograded northward to floodplain in distal part.

Direct gray-scale extraction of topographic features for vein recognition

Binarization processing is a key step in most vein pattern recognition, but may create flaws such as leakage of some feature information. In order to overcome this problem, a new approach is explored in this paper which can extract topographic features directly from gray-scale vein images without binarization processing. First, an extreme graph of directional fields (EGDF) is calculated according to neighborhood information of every pixel, and then the intravenous main ridge of the image can be separated step by step from EGDF with the defined constraint template sets. After that, the sub-ridge is extracted from end points of the main ridge in range constraint image with the tracing method of maximal neighboring point. According to contrast experiment the proposed method is better than the traditional processing (performing binarization first and then skeletonization), in that it can overcome the problem that some separate vein lines are extracted incorrectly, and it can avoid extracting two neighboring vein lines as one ridge. As such, the proposed method is an effective way to extract topographic features for vein recognition

Single walled carbon nanotubes (SWNTs) were deposited on interdigital electrode (IDE) devices and quartz crystal microbalance (QCM) devices through layer-by-layer self-assembly method to fabricate resistance sensitive and mass sensitive gas sensors, respectively. Their ammonia gas-sensitive characteristics were detected at different temperature. It is revealed that the SWNTs based mass sensitive gas sensor has good sensing properties at room temperature. However, the SWNTs based resistance sensitive gas sensor has irreversible response for ammonia gas. When the temperature increases, the noise of SWNTs based mass sensitive gas sensor increases and the gas sensitive characteristic decreases. Meanwhile, the humidity effect is also discussed. It is important to optimize gas sensor by making it work at an appropriate external environment.

Two multiparty simultaneous quantum identity authentication (MSQIA) protocols based on secret sharing are presented. All the users can be authenticated by a trusted third party (TTP) simultaneously. In the first protocol,the TTP shares a random key K with all the users using quantum secret sharing. The ith share acts as the authentication key of the ith user. When it is necessary to perform MSQIA,the TTP generates a random number R secretly and sends a sequence of single photons encoded with K and R to all the users. According to his share,each user performs the corresponding unitary operations on the single photon sequence sequentially. At last,the TTP can judge whether the impersonator exists. The sec-ond protocol is a modified version with a circular structure. The two protocols can be efficiently used for MSQIA in a network. They are feasible with current technol-ogy.

The robustness and breakup of spiral wave in a two-dimensional lattice networks of neurons are investigated. The effect of small- world type connection is often simplified with local regular connection and the long-range connection with certain probability. The network effect on the development of spiral wave can be better described by local regular connection and changeable long-range connection probability than fixed long-range connection probability because the long-range probability could be changeable in realistic biological system. The effect from the changeable probability for long-range connection is simplified by multiplicative noise. At first, a stable rotating spiral wave is developed by using appropriate initial values, parameters and no-flux boundary conditions, and then the effect of networks is investigated. Extensive numerical studies show that spiral wave keeps its alive and robust when the intensity of multiplicative noise is below a certain threshold, otherwise, the breakup of spiral wave occurs. A statistical factor of synchronization in two-dimensional array is defined to study the phase transition of spiral wave by checking the membrane potentials of all neurons corresponding to the critical parameters(the intensity of noise or forcing current)in the curve for factor of synchronization. The Hindmarsh-Rose model is investigated, the Hodgkin-Huxley neuron model in the presence of the channel noise is also studied to check the model independence of our conclusions. And it is found that breakup of spiral wave is easier to be induced by the multiplicative noise in presence of channel noise.

MMSE relay precoding schemes based on quantization error compensation for multi-relay system

In order to deal with the performance degradation resulting from the quantization error,this paper introduces the statistics of Grassmannian codebook's quantization error into relay precoding design for multirelay *** on the two-step MMSE optimization algorithm for relay precoding and receiver equalizing with full feedback under QoS requirements,we first propose a limited feedback two-step MMSE optimization scheme for relay precoding and receiver equalizing with quantization error compensation,and then we propose a limited feedback joint MMSE optimization scheme for relay precoding and receiver equalizing with quantization error compensation subject to a global power constraint at the output of *** results show that the proposed joint MMSE optimization scheme with quantization error compensation has a much lower bit-error rate than the two-step MMSE optimization scheme with quantization error compensation and the joint MMSE optimization scheme without quantization error compensation.

Synchronization of Digital Chaos in Secure Communication Systems

The theories of synchronization based on secure communications using digital chaos are presented. A new synchronous method-cycles-interval Pulse drive is developed and realized. Experimental results show it is available, and in order to reduce synchronous noise, a method using model references solves the ratio of signal power to noise power, so the secure communication system can be realized.

Modulation on the collective response behavior by the system size in two-dimensional coupled cell systems

By the intracellular calcium ionic minimal model proposed by Berridge, we investigated the collective response of two-dimensional (N×N) coupled cell systems to the external stimulation using numerical simulation methods. With a coupled intensity fixed and an appropriate coupled cell number chosen, the kinetic system size resonance was discovered. At the same time, it was found that the system size responding to the external stimulation for different coupled intensities transferred too, especially when the coupled intensity increased, the range of the corresponding system size extended. These phe- nomena illustrate that the coupled cell number and the coupled intensity can play con- structive roles in noisy coupled systems, by which the biology system would probably improve its capability to respond to the external stimulation.

Extraction of vegetation fraction information from CBERS images based on VBSI vegetation index in Kaixian county

Based on the mixed pixel model, the vegetation fraction of Kaixian county, china, was extracted with three free CBERS images. VBSI vegetation index suitable for CBERS images constructed with FCD (forest canopy density) model principle was put forward by ITTO (International Tropical Timber Organization) was used, considering the underestimation of vegetation fraction using NDVI in low mountain-hill region influenced by soils and shadows. And vegetation fraction was divided into five categories from low to high in order to study the special variation of vegetation cover. The results show that the vegetation cover of the region is overall good, with an average of 5.%. The area of vegetation fraction below 30% accounts for 11.7% of the entire studied area, mainly concentrates in central eastern Kaixian county, where is the major development zone of cities and towns; that between 30% and 60% accounts for 62.; and that higher than 60% accounts for 2.%, and mostly locates in northern middle-mountain area.
