Atmospheric circulation reconstruction based on glaciochemical records requires knowledge of chemical concentration controls, such as source, transport pathway and strength. To gain insight into these processes, the relationships between glaciochemical records from two Northern Hemisphere sites (Mt. Logan in Yukon Territory and 2.D in southern Greenland) and instrumental sea level pressure (SLP) series are investigated. Calibrations between Mt. Logan sea-salt sodium (ssNa+) concentration and SLP series show that ssNa+ concentrations are closely correlated with the autumntime (SON) Aleutian Low and the summertime (JJA) North Pacific Subtropical High. Both the deepened Aleutian Low and enhanced North Pacific Sub- tropical High strengthen the transport of sea-salt aerosols from the North Pacific to the Mt. Logan region. Calibrations between 2.D ssNa+ concentrations and SLP series indicate that ssNa+ concentrations are closely related to the wintertime (Jan.) Icelandic Low. A deepening of the Icelandic Low strengthens winter storms and frequent cyclogenesis over the North Atlantic and pushes more sea-salt laden air masses to the Greenland ice sheet. Therefore, ice core ssNa+ records from the Mt. Logan region can be considered as a proxy for reconstructing the au- tumntime Aleutian Low and summertime North Pacific Subtropical High, and the ssNa+ records from Greenland ice core (2.D) may provide a proxy for reconstructing the wintertime Icelandic Low.

The Wenchuan Ms 8.0 earthquake on May 12. 2.08 induced a huge number of landslides. The distribution and volume of the landslides are very important for assessing risks and understanding the landslide - debris flow - barrier lake - bursts flood disaster chain. The number and the area of landslides in a wide region can be easily obtained by remote sensing technique, while the volume is relatively difficult to obtain because it requires some detailed geometric information of slope failure surface and sub-surface. Different empirical models for estimating landslide volume were discussed based on the data of 107 landslides in the earthquake-stricken area. The volume data of these landslides were collected by field survey. Their areas were obtained by interpreting remote sensing images while their apparent friction coefficients and height were extracted from the images unifying DEM (digital elevation model). By analyzing the relationships between the volume and the area, apparent friction coefficients, and the height, two models were established, one for the adaptation of a magnitude scale landslide events in a wide range of region, another for the adaptation in a small scope. The correlation coefficients (R2. are 0.7977 and 0.8913, respectively. The results estimated by the two models agree well with the measurement data.

Based on field geological survey, structural measurements and classical Ar/Ar dating of mica, biotite and K-feldspar, we obtain cooling ages for Miocene left-lateral shear along the Xianshuihe fault zone. The results document two thermal events during the sinistral shear. The early event (12.10 Ma) corresponds to rapid cooling of the Zheduoshan granitic massif from above 700℃ to below 35.℃. The late event (5.3.5.Ma) corresponds to cooling of granites intruded along the eastern side of the fault zone. These dating results provide important thermochronological constraint on the timing of late Cenozoic eastward extrusion of the Chuan-Dian Block in the SE Tibetan margin.

Reaction of copper powder, dibenzoyl peroxide and 2.amino-4methyl-5.ethoxycarbonyl thiazole (amet) by refluxing in acetone yielded the dinuclearcopper(Ⅱ) complex Cu2.(μ-PhCOO)4 (amet)2. 2.H3COCH3. Crystal structure determination showed that each copper atom is coordinated by four bridged benzoxy and oneamet molecule with an M-M bond (Cu-Cu (A) = 2.6899 (7 ) ), therefore the coor-dination environment around the copper center is a distorted square pyramid with N(1)at the apical position. Blocks of Cu2.(μ-PhCOO)4 (amet)2.2.H3COCH3 crystallize inthe triclinic space group Ph, with Mr= 1100.14, a= 9. 631 (1), b=10. 446 (2., c=12. 75.(2. ; a=91. 31 (1), β=95. 5.(1),γ= 94. 87(1)°, V=12.2. 4(3), Z=1, Dc= 1. 436 g/cm3, F(000) = 5.0, μ=0. 986 mm-1 and R=0.033, Rw=*** IR spectra, which are of great interest since the molecule has ketone, ester andcarboxylate group simultaneously, are also discussed.

This paper studies the relationship between net primary productivity (NPP) and annual average air temperature (GT) at 0cm above ground in permafrost regions by using revised Chikugo NPP model,cubic spline interpolating functions,and non-linear regression *** source regions of the Yangtze and Yellow Rivers were selected as the research *** illustrate that:(1) There is significant non-linear relationship between NPP and GT in various typical years;(2. The maximum value of NPP is 6.17,5.87,7.73,and 5.41 DM·t·hm-2.·a-1 respectively,and the corresponding GT is 7.1,10.0,2..2.and 8.9 o C respectively in 1980,1990,2.00 and 2.07;(3) In 1980,the sensitivity of NPP to GT is higher than in 1990,2.00 and *** tendency shows that the NPP presents change from fluctuation to an adaptation process over time;(4) During 1980～2.07,the accumulated NPP was reduced to 8.05.and the corresponding carrying capacity of theoretical livestock reduced by 11%;(5. The shape of the demonstration region of ecological compensation system,livelihood support system,and science appraisal system in the source regions of Yangtze and Yellow Rivers are an important research for increasing the adaptation capacity and balancing protection and development.

The process-oriented model Forest-DNDC describing biogeochemical cycling of C and N and GHGs （greenhouse gases） fluxes （CO2. NO and N2.） in forest ecosystems was applied to simulate carbon sequestration and GHGs emissions in Abies fabric forest of the Gongga Mountains at southeastern edge of the Tibetan Plateau. The results indicated that the simulated gross primary production （GPP） of Abies fabric forest was strongly affected by temperature. The annual total GPP was 2.,2.5.3 kg C ha^-1 yr^-1 for 2.05.and 2.,318.8 kg C ha^-1 yr^-1 for 2.06, respectively. The annual total net primary production （NPP） was 5.935.5.and 4,882.2.kg C ha^-1 yr^-1 for 2.05.and 2.06, and the annual total net ecosystem production （NEP） was 4,815.4 and 3,5.2.8 kg C ha^-1 yr^-1 for 2.05.and 2.06, respectively. The simulated seasonal variation in CO2.emissions generally followed the seasonal variations in temperature and precipitation. The annual total CO2.emissions were 3,109.0 and 4,82..0 kg C ha^-1 yr^-1 for 2.05.and 2.06, the simulated annual total N2. emissions from forest soil were 1.47 and 1.36 kg N ha^-1 yr^-1 for 2.05.and 2.06, and the annual total NO emissions were 0.09 and o.12.kg N ha^-1 yr^-1 for 2.05.and 2.06, respectively.

The osRACD gene correlated with fertility transformation in the photoperiod sensitive genic male sterile rice (PGMR), Nongken 5.S, encoded a rice (Oryza sativa L. ssp. japonica) small GTPase belonging to the Rac/Rho family. Inverse PCR was performed to amplify a fragment about 1.4 kb in 5. upstream region of the osRACD promoter. Deletion mutation and gel mobility shift assay characterized two fragments (–799 to –686 nt, and –686 to –431 nt) in the osRACD promoter that could be involved in its transcriptional regulation. When these two deletion fragments were used as probe respectively, a retarded band appeared in the nuclear extracts of fertile 5.S rice under short day (5.S-SD). Whereas no retarded band was shown in the nuclear extracts of sterile 5.S rice under long day (5.S-LD). Competition assay indicated that the factors in the retarded bands binding to these two fragments were the same trans-acting factor (termed rice factor, RF). The binding affinity of RF was affected by phosphorylation and was higher in SD-growth rice than that of LD-growth rice.

Moist vorticity vector is introduced to study the development and evolution of mesoscale convective vortex (MCV) in the Meiyu front precipitation with the Advanced Regional Predication System (ARPS). In this study, the heavy rainfall is simulated to investigate the genesis, development and dissipation of middle scale convective vortex, which occurred from 0000 UTC 3 July to 12.0 UTC 5.July over the Jianghuai River valley. Moist vorticity vector (MVV) has zonal, radial and vertical components in its 3D spatial distribution. The simulation shows that the vertical component of moist vorticity vector well demonstrates the spatial distribution characteristics of middle scale convective vortex, especially in the process of Meiyu front precipitation. Diagnosis upon zonal, radial averaged and mass-integrated quantities of MVV shows that its vertical component and the surface precipitating ratio are in phase with a correlation coefficient of 0.68, indicating that the vertical component of MVV is closely associated with the Meiyu front precipitation. In addition, the tendency of the vertical component of MVV is mainly determined by the interaction between the vorticity and the zonal and radial gradient of condensational or depositional heating.
