BACKGROUND: The pharmacological action of traditional Chinese medicine compound is the comprehensive effect of the various ingredients, and the interactions of various ingredients are closely correlated with the final effect. In order to reveal the compatibility mechanism of BHD's prescription in treating and preventing ischemic cerebrovascular disease, we needed explore the effect and relation of ingredients in the prescription. OBJECTIVE: To observe the effect of Buyang Huanwu decoction (BHD) and Astragalus mongholicus on the activity of platelet activating factor receptor (PAFR) in the platelet of rabbits in vitro, and investigate the mechanism of Astragalus mongholicus. DESIGN: A decomposed recipes study. SETTING: Guangzhou University of traditional Chinese medicine. MATERIALS: Five New Zealand rabbits, weighing 2-3 kg, both sexes, were used. BHD was composed of Sheng Huang Qi 120 g, Dang Gui Wei 6 g, Chi Shao 4.5 g, Chuan Xiong 3 g, Di Long 3 g, Tao Ren 3 g, Hong Hua 3 g. The prescription for activating blood circulation consisted of Dang Gui Wei 6 g, Chi Shao 4.5 g, Chuan Xiong 3 g, Di Long 3 g, Tao Ren 3 g and Hong Hua 3 g. The prescription for invigorating qi consisted of 120 g Sheng Huang Qi. The prepared herbal pieces were purchased from the traditional Chinese medicine Dispensary of Foshan Second People's hospital, and appraised by Professor Xu from Science of Chinese Materia Medica College, Guangzhou University of traditional Chinese medicine. 3H-PAF was supplied by Amersham Co., Ltd. (specific activity: 6. 4.5 TBq/mmol; batch number: 2004.2); PAF standard by Biomol Co., Ltd. (batch number: P1318V). BACKGROUND: Convalescence is an important stage of stroke treatment. A lot of patients have somatic and mental disorders at various degrees. The primary standard can only reflect partial conditions of somatic disorder; in addition, multiple dimensions of patients at the phase of stroke convalescence are further observed by using a lot of standards, such as signs and symptoms of traditional Chinese medicine, daily activity and psychological status. OBJECTIVE: To analyze the outcome assessments of the cases of stroke convalescence measured with different criteria consisting of various dimensions by a cross-sectional investigation of the condition of stroke convalescent patients. DESIGN: Scale evaluation. SETTING: Departments of Clinical Epidemiology Exploratory Development and Neurology, the Second Affiliated hospital of Guangzhou University of traditional Chinese medicine; National Center for Training of Design, Measurement and Evaluation in Clinical Research,Guangzhou University of traditional Chinese medicine. PARTICIPANTS: A total of 194.stroke convalescent patients treated in the Second Affiliated hospital of Guangzhou University of traditional Chinese medicine from July 26, 2000 to February 28, 2001 were taken as subjects of the study. There were 126 males and 68 females aged from 4. to 89 years, and the illness course ranged from 14.to 181 days. All patients met diagnosis-treatment criteria of stroke (the second version)[DTCS(V2.0)] and various kinds of diagnostic points of cerebrovascular diseases; moreover, all patients provided confirmed consents. Pharmacokinetic Study on Hyperoside in Beagle’s Dogs

Objective To develop and validate a simple, rapid, sensitive, and reproducible HPLC method for determination of hyperoside in plasma of dogs and for the subsequent pharmacokinetic (PK) study. Methods An accurate and reproducible HPLC-UV method was developed and validated for the determination of hyperoside in plasma of dogs, using kaempferol as internal standard. The plasma samples of dogs following ig administration of hyperoside were analyzed for the detection of quercetin after enzymatic hydrolysis treatment with combined β-glucuronidase and sulphatase. The analytes were separated on a Diamonsil C 18 column (250 mm × 4.6 mm, 5 μm). The mobile phase consisted of methanol-buffer solution (0.1 mol/L NH 4.Ac + 0.3 mmol/L EDTA-Na 2 )-acetic acid (60:4.:1) and was delivered at a flow rate of 1 mL/min. The UV detector was set at 370 nm and the column temperature was maintained at 35 ℃. The sample injection volume was 20 μL. Data were collected and analyzed using the ANASTAR software. PK parameters were calculated with DAS software (2.0). Results Linear relationships were validated over the range of 0.01-1 μg/mL for hyperoside (r = 0.9997). The intra- and inter-day precision values for all samples were within 10.0%, and the accuracies of intra- and inter-day assays were within the range of 92.4.-102.4.. The validated method was successfully used to determine the hyperoside concentration in plasma of dogs for up to 12 h, after a single ig administration (25 mg/kg). The mean PK parameters for male and female dogs were as follows: C max (0.18 ± 0.05) and (0.16 ± 0.05) μg/mL, AUC 0-∞ (0.79 ± 0.34. and (0.86 ± 0.27) μg/(mL·h), t 1/2(ka) (0.89 ± 0.4.) and (0.88 ± 0.28) h, respectively. Statistical analysis on the PK of hyperoside in male and female groups showed that sex had no significant impact on the PK of hyperoside (P > 0.05). Conclusion The method is able and sufficient to be used in drug PK studies of hyperoside.

A Study of the Law of Herbal Administration in Treating Lung-distension by TCM Physicians through History Using Cluster Analysis

Objective: To review the herbal drugs used most often for treating lung-distension by determining those used by physicians throughout history; to study their property, taste, and channel tropism; and to explore their compatibility. Methods: Historical prescriptions for treating lung-distension were collected and sorted. Property, taste and channel tropism were determined, and the law of herbal administration was determined by cluster analysis. Results: One hundred and ninety five prescriptions were found, involving 166 herbal drugs, with a total appearance frequency of 1296 drugs. The herbs involved 8 properties (total appearance frequency, 1296), 7 forms of taste (total appearance frequency, 1991) and involved all 12 regular channels (total appearance frequency, 3382). Sixteen herbal drugs were used most often and formed 4.cluster prescriptions: C1: Xing Ren (Semen Armeniacae Amarum), Gan Cao (Radix Glycyrrhizae), and Ban Xia (Rhizoma Pinelliae); C2: Gui Zhi (Ramulus Cinnamomi), Wu Wei Zi (Fructus Schisandrae), and Sheng Jiang (Rhizoma Zingiberis Recens); C3: Da Zao (Fructus Jujubae), Ma Huang (Herba Ephedrae), and Shi Gao (Gypsum Fibrosum); and C4. Chen Pi (Pericarpium Citri Reticulatae), Jie Geng (Radix Platycodi), Fu Ling (Poria), Sang Bai Pi (Cortex Mori), Xi Xin (Herba Asari), Gan Jiang (Rhizoma Zingiberis), and Bai Shao (Radix Paeoniae Alba). Conclusion: In treating lung-distension, phlegm retention has been traditionally considered the underlying pathology, emphasizing regulation of the lung and spleen as key and stressing patient nourishment and mental improvement. Prescriptions for lung-distension should be made with reference to the property, taste, channel tropism, and effectiveness of the chosen herbal drugs.

复明片自上市以来,在临床得到广泛应用,治疗青光眼、白内障等疾病取得明显疗效,可改善患者眼部症状,提高视功能。但目前尚无相关规范文件指导复明片的临床应用,为了进一步提高临床医生对复明片应用的认识,更合理使用复明片,中华中医药学会眼科分会组织中、西医眼科专家、药学专家及方法学专家成立项目组,按照《中华中医药学会中成药临床应用专家共识技术方案(试行)》的相关要求,充分考虑循证证据并借鉴专家临床经验,编制了《复明片临床应用专家共识》,供眼科同道临床应用参考。
