Objective:To report the clinical maternal and fetal outcomes of pregnant women with coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19),along with any associated pregnancy complications,in Hong Kong,China,and to assess the impact of COVID-19 vaccination on these ***:This prospective registry-based observational study included pregnant women who were recruited through convenient sampling and had a laboratory-confirmed severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 infection with a cycle threshold(Ct)value result available on admission to eight local hospitals in Hong Kong,*** on clinical symptoms,laboratory results,medical treatments,delivery timing and mode,and pregnancy complications were extracted from the Hospital Authority’s electronic medical record ***,fetal,and pregnancy outcomes were compared between unvaccinated pregnant women with COVID-19 and those who had received at least one dose of COVID-19 vaccine before *** continuous variables and categorical variables were analyzed using the Mann-Whitney u test and the pearson’s chi-squared test respectively.A p value less than 0.05 was considered statistically ***:A total of 164 pregnant women were included,of whom 78(47.56%)were ***-19 was diagnosed before 28 weeks’gestation in 30(18.29%),while 134(81.71%)were diagnosed at or after 28 weeks’***-two(37.80%)women received at least one dose of COVID-19 *** were no significant differences between vaccinated and unvaccinated groups in the time interval between COVID-19 diagnosis and delivery,the Ct value,and the gestational age at infection onset or delivery(p>0.05).The majority of women were symptomatic at diagnosis regardless of vaccination status 55(88.71%)in vaccinated group vs.78(76.47%)in unvaccinated group(p=0.052).Symptoms did not significantly differ between groups except for cough(62.90%vs.47.06%,p=0.049).The overall rate of severe COVID-19 in pregnant women was *** t

Enhanced conductivity and weakened magnetism in pb-doped Sr2IrO4

Group IV element pb has been selected as the dopant to dope at the Sr site of Sr2IrO4. It is exciting to find that the single-phase crystal structure could be maintained with a high pb doping level of up to x=0.3 in Sr2-xpbxIrO4. The mapping data obtained from energy-dispersive x-ray spectroscopy analyses give solid evidence that the pb ions are uniformly distributed in the Sr2IrO4matrix. The incorporation of pb leads to a moderate depression of the canted antiferromagnetic ordering state. The electrical conductivity could be greatly enhanced when the pb doping content is higher than x=*** present results give a fresh material base to explore new physics in doped Sr2IrO4systems.

AIM： To our knowledge, the inter-observer variability of the liver biopsy findings in HBV-infected children have not been studied as yet. Hence, we aimed to compare different pathologist＇s assessment of grading and staging in liver biopsies obtained from children prior to interferon treatment. METHODS： We collected 920 biopsies from 11 medical centers. The biopsies were independently reviewed by 6 pathologists from academic centers who assessed Batts-Ludwig score for grading and staging. Satisfactory agreement among observers was defined as at least 60% of observers having the same opinion. Satisfactory dispersion between maximal and minimal score for the same biopsy specimen was defined as a maximum 1 point. RESuLTS： Satisfactory inter-observer agreement for grading was obtained in 51.6% and for staging in 75.7% of biopsies. Satisfactory dispersion for grading scores was observed in 44.5% and for staging in 72.7% of cases. CONCLuSION： Our study demonstrates that：（1） pathologists differ in their assessment of grading and staging of liver biopsies; （2） inter-observer variability for staging is lower than that for grading; and （3） regardless of the inter-observer variability of assessments, the majority of children with chronic HBV infection have mild to moderate inflammation and mild to moderate fibrosis.

pregnancy in patients with Eisenmenger syndrome(ES)is associated with high maternal mortality rates of 30%‒50%,or even up to 65%in the case of a cesarean section(Yuan,2016).Here,we report a case of term pregnancy complicated with ES and severe pulmonary artery hypertension(pAH),which was managed by a multidisciplinary team(MDT)and resulted in an uncomplicated delivery via elective cesarean *** goal of this study is to emphasize the importance of multidisciplinary approach in the management of pregnancy with ES,which can profoundly improve maternal and infant outcomes.

Interplay between nitric oxide and VIp in CCK-8-induced phasic contractile activity in the rabbit sphincter of Oddi

AIM: The sphincter of Oddi (SO) plays an important role in delivery of bile into the duodenum. To establish whether vasoactive intestinal polypeptide (VIp) and nitric oxide (NO) were involved in phasic contractile activity of the rabbit SO stimulated by cholecystokinin-octapeptide (CCK-8). METHODS: Isolated SO muscle rings were cleaned of fat and mounted horizontally on two small L-shaped hooks one of which was connected to a force transducer for the measurement of isometric *** experiments were carried out in a thermostatically controlled (37±0.2℃) organ bath (5 mL) containing Krebs *** organ fluid was gassed with 95% O2 and 50 mL/L CO2 to keep the pH at 7.40±0.05. Contractile responses to CCK-8 (1 μmol/L) were evaluated in the presence and absence of NG-nitro-L-arginine (LNNA), an inhibitor of NO synthase (100 μmol/L), and (p-chloro-D-phe6-Leu17)-VIp (Vlpa, 30 μmol/L), a VIp receptor antagonist. RESuLTS: CCK-8 stimulated the phasic activity of the SO. NO synthase inhibition increased the frequency and amplitude of contractions with a slight increase in developed tension. pre-incubation with Vlpa also attenuated this CCK-8 effect. The combined application of LNNA and Vlpa abolished the phasic activity of the muscle rings with a marked increase in tension in response to CCK-8. CONCLuSION: VIp and NO together contribute to an increase in phasic activity of SO.

AIM:The rote of the sphincter of Oddi(SO)in ethanol (ETOH)-induced pancreatitis is *** aim was to characterise the effect of E-I-OH on basal and stimulated SO motility. METHODS:SOs removed from white rabbits were placed in an organ bath(Krebs solution,pH7.4,37℃).The effects of 2 mL/L,4 mL/L,6 mL/L and 8 mL/L of ETOH on the contractile responses of the sphincter were determined. SOs were stimulated with either 0.1 μmol/L carbachol,1 μmol/L erythromycin or 0.1 μmol/L cholecystokinin(CCK). RESuLTS:ETOH at a dose of 4 mL/L significantly decreased the baseline contractile amplitude from 11.98±0.05 mN to 11.19±0.07 ***,no significant changes in the contractile frequency were ***(0.6%) significantly decreased both the baseline amplitude and the frequency compared to the control group(10.50±0.01 mN, 12.13±0.10 mN and 3.53±0.13 c/min,5.5±0.13 cycles(c)/min, respectively).Moreover,0.8% of ETOH resulted in complete relaxation of the ***(0.1 μmol/L)or erythromycin (1 μmol/L)stimulated the baseline amplitudes(by 82% and 75%,respectively)and the contractile frequencies (by 150% and 106%,respectively).In the carbachol or erythromydn-stimulated groups 2-6 mL/L of E-IOH significantly inhibited both the amplitude and the ***, a 4-5 min administration of 6 mL/L ETOH suddenly and completely relaxed the ***(0.1 μmol/L)stimulated the baseline amplitude from 12.37±0.05 mN to 27.40±1.82 mN within 1.60±0.24 *** this peak,the amplitude decreased to 17.17±0.22 mN and remained constant during the *** frequency peaked at 12.8±0.2 c/min, after which the constant frequency was 9.43±0.24 c/min throughout the rest of the *** at a dose of 4 mL/L significantly decreased the amplitude from 16.13±0.23 mN to 14.93±0.19 ***,no significant changes in the contractile frequency were *** at a dose of 6 mL/L inhibited both the amplitudes and the frequencies in the CCK-stimulated group,while 8 mL/L of E

The occurrence of vibrational resonance(VR)in a dual-frequency-driven multistable system with a spatially varying mass modelling particle with position-dependent mass(pDM)and evolving in a one-dimensional symmetric periodic potential has been investigated and reported in this *** numerically compute and analyze the response amplitude,the effects of the pDM parameters(m0,a)on the potential structure,the occurrence of VR and the bifurcation of the equilibrium *** is shown that the pDM parameters,besides controlling VR,can induce unconventional resonance patterns through the variation of the potential well *** resonant states can be influenced through the cooperation of the pDM parameters and the external forcing leading the system from multiresonance state into single and double resonance *** contributions of the fixed rest mass m0 on the VR and the pDM-induced resonance are determined by threshold conditions imposed by the magnitude of the mass nonlinear strength a.

Interaction of acoustic waves and microbubbles occurs in numerous biomedical applications including ultrasound imaging,drug delivery,lithotripsy treatment,and cell manipulation,wherein the acoustically driven microbub-blcs routincly act as active microscale oscillators or *** contrast,microbubbles were utilized here as passive reccivers to detect broadband ultrasound waves in aqueous *** microbubble was photo-thermally generated on a microstructured optical fiber(MOF)tip,forming a flexible Fabry-perot cavity whose gas-water interface was sensitive to ultrasound *** MOF severed as both a low-loss waveguide and a compact light condenser,allowing high-efficiency generation and stabilization of ultrasmall *** with all-fiber interferometry,a 10 um diameter microbubble exhibited a low noise-cquivalcnt pressur elevei of^3.4 mpa/Hz^1/2 and a broad bandwidth of^0.8 MHz,capable of detecting weak ultrasounds emittedfrom red blood cells irradiated by pulsed laser *** advantages of high sensitivity,compact size,and low cost,the microbubble-based ultrasound sensor has great potential in biomedical imaging and sensing applications.
