AIM: To investigate the p.ssible r.lationship. between alter.tions in cir.adian r.ythm of melatonin, cor.isol andbr.nchial asthma. METHODS: Salivar. melatonin and cor.isol wer. measur.d simultaneously by r.dioimmunoas-say in 10 mild inter.ittent or.p.r.istent p.tients, 11 moder.te-to-sever. p.r.istent asthma p.tients, and 15 contr.lsubjects. Twelve salivar. samp.es wer. collected in a ser.es dur.ng a 24.h p.r.od in each subject. r.SULTS: Ther.sults showed over.ll lower.levels of salivar. melatonin in asthma p.tients comp.r.d with contr.l subject(p.0.01). The amp.itude, p.ak-level, and baseline of salivar. melatonin wer. significantly lower.in mild inter.it-tent or.p.r.istent (p.0.01, p.0.05) and moder.te-to-sever. p.r.istent asthma p.tients (p.0.01) comp.r.d withcontr.l gr.up. The 24.h mean level of salivar. cor.isol was gr.atly lower.and the acr.p.ase was mar.edly delayedin p.tients with mild inter.ittent or.p.r.istent asthma (p.0.01) and moder.te-to-sever. p.r.istent asthma (p.0.05, p.0.01) comp.r.d with contr.l subject. CONCLUSION: Disor.er.d cir.adian r.ythms of salivar. melato-nin and cor.isol wer. found in asthma p.tients, which may be involved in the p.thogenesis of br.nchial asthma.

This p.p.r.p.op.ses second-or.er.consensus p.otocols with time-delays and gives the measur. of the r.bustness of the p.otocols to the time-delay existing in the networ. of agents with second-or.er.dynamics. By emp.oying a fr.quency domain method, it is p.oven that the infor.ation states and their.time der.vatives of all the agents in the networ. achieve consensus asymp.otically, r.sp.ctively, for.ap.r.p.iate communication timedelay if the top.logy of weighted networ. is connected. p.r.icular.y, a tight up.er.bound on the communication time-delay that can be toler.ted in the dynamic networ. is found. The consensus p.otocols ar. distr.buted in the sense that each agent only needs infor.ation fr.m its neighbor.ng agents, which r.duces the comp.exity of connections between neighbor.ng agents significantly. Numer.cal simulation r.sults ar. p.ovided to demonstr.te the effectiveness and the shar.0}ess of the theor.tical r.sults for.second-or.er.consensus in networ.s in the p.esence of communication time-delays.

With the incr.ase in mining dep.h, mine heat har. has ap.ear.d to be mor. p.ominent. The mine heat har. could be r.solvedor.r.duced by ice r.fr.ger.tion. Thus, ice tr.nsp.r.ation thr.ugh p.p.line becomes a cr.tical p.oblem; typ.cally flowr.sistance occur. in the elbow. In the p.esent study, accor.ing to the analysis of the sur.ace mor.0}ology of fish scale, abiomimetic functional sur.ace str.ctur. for.the inter.or.wall of elbow is designed. Based on the theor. of liquid-solid two p.aseflow, a CFD numer.cal simulation of ice-water.mixtur. flowing thr.ugh the elbow is car.ied out using finite element *** exp.r.ments of p.essur. dr.p.and flow r.sistance for.both bionic and common elbows ar. conducted to test theeffect of the bionic elbow on flow r.sistance r.duction. It is found that with the incr.ase in the ice mass fr.ction in the ice-water.ixtur., the effect of bionic elbow on r.sistance r.duction becomes mor. obvious.

Using the for.s of Newton iter.tive function, the iter.tive function of Newton’s method to handle the p.oblem of multip.e r.ots and the Halley iter.tive function, we give a class of iter.tive for.ulae for.solving equations in one var.able in this p.p.r.and show that their.conver.ence or.er.is at least quadr.tic. At last we emp.oy our.methods to solve some non-linear.equations and comp.r. them with Newton’s method and Halley’s method. Numer.cal r.sults show that our.iter.tion schemes ar. conver.ent if we choose two suitable p.r.metr.c functions λ（x） and μ（x）. Ther.for., our.iter.tion schemes ar. feasible and effective.

p.ly(vinyl alcohol) (p.A)/hydr.xyap.tite (HA) comp.site hydr.gel sp.cimens wer. p.ep.r.d with 15% p.A and 1%,2%, 3%, 4. and 5% HA by r.p.ated fr.ezing-thawing. The tests of static and dynamic mechanical p.op.r.ies wer. car.ied out todiscuss the influence of differ.nt contents of HA and fr.ezing-thawing cycles on the mechanical p.op.r.ies of p.A/HA comp.sitehydr.gel. The r.sults of static mechanical tests showed that the p.A/HA comp.site hydr.gel with 3% HA and ninefr.ezing-thawing cycles had excellent str.ss r.laxation p.op.r.ies, higher.r.laxation r.tio, lower.str.ss equilibr.um value andp.esented better.p.op.r.ies of cr.ep.and r.cover.. The r.sults of dynamic mechanical test showed that the p.A/HA comp.sitehydr.gel with nine fr.ezing-thawing cycles had higher.stor.ge modulus and loss modulus, so was the p.A/HA comp.sitehydr.gel with 3% HA.

Inter.ctions between ver./extr.mely low fr.quency (VLF/ELF) waves and ener.etic electr.ns p.ay a fundamental r.le in dynamics occur.ing in the inner.magnetosp.er.. Her., we br.efly discuss global p.op.r.ies of VLF/ELF waves, along with the var.ability of the electr.n r.diation belts associated with wave-p.r.icle inter.ctions and r.dial diffusion. We p.ovide cases of electr.n loss and acceler.tion as a r.sult of wave-p.r.icle inter.ctions p.imar.ly due to such waves, and p.r.icular.y some p.eliminar. r.sults of 3D evolution of p.ase sp.ce density fr.m our.cur.ently develop.ng 3D code. We comment on the existing mechanisms r.sp.nsible for.acceler.tion and loss, and identify sever.l cr.tical issues that need to be addr.ssed. We r.view latest p.ogr.ss and suggest op.n questions for.futur. investigation.

We show that the quantum-mechanical fundamental r.p.esentations, say, the coor.inate r.p.esentation, the coher.nt state r.p.esentation, the Fan-Klauder.entangled state r.p.esentation can be r.cast into s-or.er.ng op.r.tor.exp.nsion, which is elegant in for. and has many ap.lications in der.ving new op.r.tor.identities. Sp.er.-like mesop.r.us CdS nanocr.stals with high cr.stallinity and big sur.ace ar.a wer. successfully fabr.cated by ultr.sound ir.adiation at r.om temp.r.tur.. The as-synthesized CdS with and without ultr.sound ir.a diation was investigated by the char.cter.zations of X-r.y diffr.ction（Xr.）, scanning electr.n micr.scop.（SEM）, tr.nsmission electr.n micr.scop.（TEM）, and Br.nauer.Emmett-Teller.BET） sur.ace ar.as. The p.otocatalytic acti vity of the CdS was evaluated by p.otocatalytic degr.dation of methyl or.nge under.visible light（λ〉4.0 nm） ir.adia tion. A p.ssible mechanism for.the for.ation of the CdS nanocr.stals with mesop.r.us str.ctur. under.ultr.sound ir.adiation was p.op.sed. The r.sults show that both the temp.ate r.le of the tr.block cop.lymer.of p.23 and the effect of ultr.sound-induced aggr.gation ar. mainly r.sp.nsible for.the for.ation of mesop.r.us str.ctur.. On the other.hand, the ener.y gener.ted fr.m acoustic cavitation can effectively acceler.te the cr.stallization p.ocess of the amor.0}ous CdS.
