System dynamics is a rigorous method for qualitative description,exploration and analysis of complex systems in terms of their processes, information flows, orgaruzational boundaries and strategies, which facilitates quantitative modelling and analysis for design of system structure and the improvement of system behaviour. It can be applied to the study of a wide range of systems, and its ability to describe socio-economic characteristics and behaviour makes it suitable for the analysis of the regional development process. Three examples of System Dynamics models are reviewd to demonstrate the suitability of the method for regional analysis, and on the basis of this review the potential use of system dynamics models in China is discussed.

Analysis of tidal current and sea level has been made based on the observations from the summer of 2006 to the winter of 2007,*** result indicates that a two-layer structure of residual current exists in summer,with its upper layer going northwestward and the lower layer *** addition,some strong residuals exist in the neighboring depth of the pycnocline during the current period of astronomical *** winter,except some individual layersthe residual currents mostly direct to the northwest,from which we can see the fluctuation of abnormal sea-level and the appearance of associated current because of the changes of the wind *** analysis of tidal ellipse indicates that the direction of the maximum semidiurnal component is clockwise from summer to winter,with an angle of ***,in summer the semidiurnal component rotates with depth clockwise while the diurnal component ***,the vertical structure is almost homogeneous in winter.

Bursting of Morris-Lecar neuronal model with current-feedback control

The Morris-Lecar (ML) neuronal model with current-feedback control is considered as a typical fast-slow dynamical system to study the combined influences of the reversal potential VCa of Ca2+ and the feedback current I on the generation and transition of different bursting oscillations. Two-parameter bifurcation analysis of the fast subsystem is performed in the parameter (I, VCa)-plane at first. Three important codimension-2 bifurcation points and some codimension-1 bifurcation curves are obtained which enable one to determine the parameter regions for different types of bursting. Next, we further divide the control parameter (V0, VCa)-plane into five different bursting regions, namely, the "fold/fold" bursting region R1, the "fold/Hopf" bursting region R2, the "fold/homoclinic" bursting region R3, the "subHopf/homoclinic" bursting region R4.and the "subHopf/subHopf" bursting region R5, as well as a silence region R6. Codimension-1 and -2 bifurcations are responsible for explanation of transition mechanisms between different types of bursting. The results are instructive for further understanding the dynamical behavior and mechanisms of complex firing activities and information processing in biological nervous systems.

Four sources of surface heat flux （SHF） and the satellite remote sensing sea surface temperature （SST） data are combined to investigate the heat budget closure of the Huanghai Sea （HS） in *** is found that heat loss occurs all over the HS during winter and the area averaged heat content change decreases with a rate of-106 W/m *** with the area averaged SHF of-150 W/m 2 from the four SHF data sets,it can be concluded that the SHF plays a dominant role in the HS heat budget during *** contrast,the heat advection transported by the Huanghai Warm Current （Yellow Sea Warm Current,HWC） accounted for up to 29% of the HS heat content *** correlation,especially in February,between the storm events and the SST increase demonstrates that the HWC behaves strongly as a wind-driven compensation current.

In this study,we investigated the characteristics of leachate DOM with different landfill ages using the chemical and spectroscopic characteristics of DOM,elemental analysis of DOM different *** humic acid(HA),fulvic acid(FA)and hydrophilic(Hyl)were isolated and purified by the XAD-8 resin combined with the cation exchange resin *** analytical results of fiuorescence EEMs revealed that the fluorescence peaks were protein-like fluouescence for young landfill leachate,while the fluorescence peaks for medium and old landfill leachates were humic-hike and fulvic-like *** analysis showed that carbon, hydrogen and nitrogen content decreased with landfill age,while oxygen content ***,The nitrogen content in these isolated fractions followed:HA＞HyI＞*** results of elemental analysis,FTIR and fiuorescence EEMs also confirmed that aromatic carbons and portions of aliphatic functional groups were more abundant in leachate sample with increasing landfill *** information on the characteristics of DOM in different landfill age leachate indicates important role in optimization of leachate treatment processes with respect to landfill age.
