Decabromodiphenyl ether(BDE209) is poorly absorbed by mammals,and little information is available on the toxicokinetics of BDE209 and its metabolites in *** the present study,rainbow trout(Oncorhynchus mykiss) were administered to 100 ng/g and 5.0 ng/g body wet weight of BDE209 via a single intraperitoneal injection and parent BDE209 and its metabolites were sequentially monitored for 28 *** results showed that toxicokinetic profiles of BDE209 could be described by the one-compartment *** the higher dose group(5.0 ng/g wet weight),the calculated half-life(t1/2) and elimination rate(ke) were 17.7 d and 0.039/d in the liver,and 100.3 d and 0.007/d in the muscle,*** major methoxylated brominated diphenyl ethers(MeO-BDEs) were detected with 2,2',4.4.-tetrabromo-5.methoxydiphenyl ether(5.MeO-BDE4.) being detected in all tissue *** was no significant temporal change of 5.MeO-BDE4. concentration in the muscle,whereas an exponential increase was observed in the ***,the metabolism rate of BDE209 depended on the administered ***209 was hardly accumulated in the muscle of rainbow trout,while the liver was a primary metabolic ***-BDEs were formed via metabolism of BDE209,which probably played a significant role in fish toxicology as a potential indicator.

Characteristics of annual nutrient uptake of a 8-yr.-old Paulownia(Paulownia tomenlosa Steed×Paulownia fortunei Hemsl) plantation (spacing 6m×10m) at Fengqiu Paulownia Experimental Station in the Yellow River, Huaihe River and Haihe River plains were studied within 2 *** total uptakes of 5.macronutrients (N,P,K,Ca and Mg)in 1989 and 1990 were 287.3238 and 24..4.34.kg/(hm￣2.a),respectively. The study came to the following laws:(1)the nutrient uptakes of the Paulownia organs followed the order:leaves>branches>flowers>stems> roots;(2) the uptakes for different nutrient elements followed the sequence: N>Ca>K>P>Mg;(3)different organs of the Paulownia showed selective uptake and retention for the essential nutrients;(4. Paulownia's uptake of nutrient elements was mainly conducted during the period between the beginning of growth and the end of July.

The broadleaved-Korean pine mixed forest is a native vegetation in the Changbai Mountains, northeast china. The probability density functions including the normal, negative exponential, Weibull and finite mixture distribution, were used to describe the diameter distributions of the species groups and entire forest stand. There is a strong correlation between parameters and mean DBH except the shape parameters in the mixture distribution. The diameter classes of species and entire forest stand showed not negative exponential but normal and "S" distribution. The mixture function was better than normal and Weibull to describe the model distribution. The location parameter had an effect on the estimated frequency in the first diameter class, when the estimated location parameter was bigger than the lower limit of the first diameter class.

Decabromodiphenyl ether （BDE209） is the primary component in a commonly used flame retardant. Previous studies had proved that BDE209 itself was not toxic, while its metabolites including debrominated diphenyl ethers （De-BDEs） and methoxylated brominated diphenyl ethers （MeO-BDEs） posed a potential threat to organisms. Many studies had indicated that BDE209 could metabolize quickly in mammals, but lacking in the basic data about the metabolism of BDE209 in fish. In the present study, two replicate treatment groups of rainbow trout （Oncorhynchus rnykiss） were exposed to BDE209 via a single intraperitoneal injection approximately 100 and 5.0 ng/g, respectively. Muscle, liver and blood samples were collected to analyze the specific metabolites on day 1 and day 28 post injection. The highest concentration of BDE209 was detected in muscle tissues, from 796.1 ng/g wet weight （day 1） to 687.1 ng/g wet weight （day 28） in high dose group, suggesting that BDE209 could accumulate slightly in muscle tissues. However, BDE209 was not detected in the blood for all treatments. Most congeners of De-BDEs were found in muscle and liver tissues, with the highest concentration in the liver. The main De-BDEs were nona-, octa-, hepta- and penta-De-BDEs. A total of seven MeO-BDE metabolites were observed among different fish tissues. Blood had the highest contribution of the MeO-BDE metabolites. Each MeO-BDE congener increased over the 28 days. These results in contrast to other studies suggested possible species-specific differences in metabolic abilities.

Designing regional pattern is challenging for ecosystem restoration both in theory and in practice. The present study proposed a new approach to design regional pattern for ecosystem restoration with a case in the arid valley of Upper Minjiang River, SW china. The procedures are: (1) Determine the regional pattern of main environmental factors based on the relationships between the important environmental factors and the main geographical factors generated from DEM data. (2) Overlay the maps of the main environmental factors. (3) Generate a lookup table according to the species selection rule we proposed to link the candidate restoration species to the main environmental factors.(4. Determine the regional pattern of ecosystem restoration by positioning the restoration species in the map of environmental factors according to the lookup table. The regional restoration pattern designed in this way would be applicable not only to restoring a region, but also to predicting the future landscape change.

Atmospheric circulation reconstruction based on glaciochemical records requires knowledge of chemical concentration controls, such as source, transport pathway and strength. To gain insight into these processes, the relationships between glaciochemical records from two Northern Hemisphere sites (Mt. Logan in Yukon Territory and 20D in southern Greenland) and instrumental sea level pressure (SLP) series are investigated. Calibrations between Mt. Logan sea-salt sodium (ssNa+) concentration and SLP series show that ssNa+ concentrations are closely correlated with the autumntime (SON) Aleutian Low and the summertime (JJA) North Pacific Subtropical High. Both the deepened Aleutian Low and enhanced North Pacific Sub- tropical High strengthen the transport of sea-salt aerosols from the North Pacific to the Mt. Logan region. Calibrations between 20D ssNa+ concentrations and SLP series indicate that ssNa+ concentrations are closely related to the wintertime (Jan.) Icelandic Low. A deepening of the Icelandic Low strengthens winter storms and frequent cyclogenesis over the North Atlantic and pushes more sea-salt laden air masses to the Greenland ice sheet. Therefore, ice core ssNa+ records from the Mt. Logan region can be considered as a proxy for reconstructing the au- tumntime Aleutian Low and summertime North Pacific Subtropical High, and the ssNa+ records from Greenland ice core (20D) may provide a proxy for reconstructing the wintertime Icelandic Low.

A wide variety of chemicals such as phenolic acids,organic acids,aldehydes,alcohol,ke- tones,nitrogen-containing chemicals,were identified by *** phenols and organic acids were identified to be inhibit and nitrogens-containing compounds were to be stimulate to germina- tion of seeds and extension of root and shoot of wheat and maize.

Virus rejection with two model human enteric viruses in membrane bioreactor system

A membrane bioreactor (MBR) with gravity drain was tested for virus rejection with two coliphages, T4.and f2, which were used as surrogates for human enteric viruses. Virus rejection was investigated by PVDF and PP membrane modules, with the pore sizes of 0.22 and 0.1 μm, respectively. In tap water system, 2.1 lg rejection of coliphage T4.could be achieved by PVDF membrane compared with complete rejection by PP membrane, while for coliphage f2 with smaller diameter, 0.3―0.5.lg rejection of the influent virus was removed by the two membranes. In domestic wastewater system, cake layer and gel layer on the membrane surface changed the cut-off size of the membrane so that there was no significant difference between PP and PVDF for each coliphage. The removal ratios of coliphage T4.and f2 in the MBR were more than 5.5.and 3.0 lg, respectively. Compared with 5.5.lg removal for virus T4.in the MBR system, only 2.1 lg (96.8%―99.9%) removal rate was observed in the conventional activated sludge system with the influent virus concentration fluctuating from 1830 to 5.000 PFU/mL. Only 0.8%―22% virus removal was the effect of adsorption to activated sludge, which showed a decreasing tendency with the retention time, while 75.―98% was the effect of virus inactivation by microbial activity. It indicated that the major mechanism of virus removal was not the transfer of viruses from the water phase to the sludge phase but inactivation in the biological treatment process.
