Single-grain zircon U-Pb and amphibole 4.Ar-39Ar dating have been conducted on a deformed and metamorphosed diorite in the East Kunlun Orogenic Belt, which intruded into the middle Proterozoic Kuhai Group exposed in the south of Xiangride region, Dulan County, NW Qinghai Province. The zircon gives a concordant U-Pb age of (4.6.5±9.1) Ma. The amphibole yields Ar plateau age of (4.8.0±1.2) Ma and an isochronal age of (4.8.9±5.6) Ma. Age results of both stepwise released Ar and conventional K-Ar analysis are remarkably higher than that of zircon U-Pb, suggesting that the amphibole contains excess argon and the amphibole plateau age cannot be taken as the timing of metamorphism or deformation. The zircon age is interpreted to be crystallization age of the diorite pluton, which suggests that an Early-Paleozoic magmatic zone indeed existed in the East Kunlun Orogenic Belt stretching along the region south to the Golmud, Normuhong and Xiangride.

This article is a preliminary summary of Paleogene biostratigraphy of the Liguanqiao, Tantou andYuanqu basins, with a new proposal for Paleogene paleobiogeographic provinces of china. On the basis of asynthetic analysis of the geological data, characters of the mammalian assemblages and their comparisons withother corresponding faunas, a new scheme on Paleogene biostratigraphic subdivision of the basins has been putforward here. Based on differences of biostratigraphic sequences, characteristics of mammalian assemblagesand directions of faults controlling Paleogene basins in china, six Paleogene paleobiogeographic provinces ofchina have been proposed in this paper, that is: Tianshan-Yinshan-Tumen Province; Tarim-North china Prov-ince; Kunlun-Qinling Province, Yangtze Province, Nanling and Southeastern Coastal Province, Qinghai andTibet Province.

The object of this paper is to study the non-tangential increasing properties of positiveharmonic function u in Lipschitz domain by means of Martin representation theory. A necessaryand sufficient condition of the control of growth of u near any fixed boundary point is obtained.It is shown that the non-tangential increasing degree of u near a boundary point is exactlythe local degree of its representation measure with respect to the harmonic measure. Someexamples are given.

This paper discusses the clayrocks widespread at the Permian-Triassic boundary, which are mostly of volcanic origin. Volcanogenetic textures, structures and minerals such as high-temperature quartz are found in clayrocks at the Permian-Triassic boundary in many places. Thousands of microspherules have been collected from the Boundary clayrocks, many of which exhibit the typical features of the process from melting to cooling and solidification. indicating that they were formed by volcanic eruption or extraterrestrial impact. Volcanic effects on the Permian-Triassic mass extinction may be reflected in conodonts, algae and ammonoids. The Boundary clayrocks are found in many Permian-Triassic sections along the coast of Tethys. Their orighin remains to be studied.

The evidence about hydrocarbon migration within reservoir rocks in two wells has been obtained according to results of magnetic and mineralogical analysis of the Kapushaliang Group reservoir rocks from wells S15 and S4./sub> located at the Yakela oil field, Tarim Basin. Results show that the secondary alteration associated with oil and gas accumulations above oil and gas field is predominantly magnetite mineralization, and that sulfur alteration occurs commonly at oil-water boundary and their products are generally pyrite and pyrrhotite, except for magnetite alteration which is closely related with hydrodynamical conditions in situ. The spherical magnetite grains of cauliflower microtexture on surface extracted from oil-bearing cores are secondary magnetite related with hydrocarbon microseepage and their diameters are usually less than 50 μm.

A novel method is introduced for self-calibration and elimination of systematic errors for a position and orientation system (POS). The method uses a combined bundle block adjustment with POS data (named the POS-supported bundle block adjustment) without a calibration field. On the basis of delivering strict observation equations for POS data, the specific scheme of compensating the translation and drift systematic errors in a POS is given, and a prototype system WuCAPS is developed. The effects of eliminating POS systematic errors using the POS-supported bundle block adjustment for different ground control conditions are tested using two sets of actual aerial photos. The first set was taken over a flat region in the suburbs of the city of Yingkou in china and tested at a scale of 1:2500. The second set was taken over a high mountainous region in the desert region of Xinjiang in china and tested at a scale of 1:32,000. The empirical results verified that the POS systematic errors can be completely eliminated and the photo elements of exterior orientation obtained by the POS-supported bundle block adjustment can satisfy the requirements of aerial photogrammetric topographic mapping when four full ground control points (GCPs) are emplaced in the corners of the adjustment block for large-scale images of flat regions, but only one full GCP emplaced in the center of the adjustment block is needed for medium-small scale images of mountainous regions. This not only demonstrates the validity of the established mathematical model and the feasibility of the method proposed in this paper, but also avoids the use of a special calibration field. Therefore, it can simplify the existing POS operation rules and dramatically save on practical application costs, laying the theoretical foundation for widespread use of POS.

The Xikuangshan Antimony Deposit located in the Mid-Hunan Basin, china, is the larg- est antimony deposit in the world. Based on the hydrogeological and geochemical data collected from four sections, Xikuangshan-Dajienao (AO), Xikuangshan-Dashengshan (BO), Xikuang- shan-Longshan (CO) and Dafengshan (DO) in the Basin, an advanced metallogenic model related to deep-cyclic meteoric water of Xikuangshan Antimony Deposit is put forward in this paper using a model of heat-gravity-driving fluid flow transportation. The simulation results show that the ore-forming fluid of the deposit mainly comes from the Dashengshan and Longshan areas where BO and CO sections are located if the overall basin keeps a constant atmospheric precipitation and infiltration rate during mineralization, and that the average transportation speed of the ore-forming fluids is about 0.2―0.4.m/a.

Based on the technology of balanced cross-section and physical simulation experiments associated with natural gas geochemical characteristic analyses, core and thin section observations, it has been proven that the Puguang gas reservoir has experienced two periods of diagenesis and restructuring since the Late Indo-Chinese epoch. One is the fluid transfer controlled by the tectonic movement and the other is geochemical reconstruction controlled by thermochemical sulfate reduction (TSR). The middle Yanshan epoch was the main period that the Puguang gas reservoir experienced the geochemical reaction of TSR. TSR can recreate the fluid in the gas reservoir, which makes the gas drying index higher and carbon isotope heavier because C2+ (ethane and heavy hydrocarbon) and 12C (carbon 12 isotope) is first consumed relative to CH4.and 13C (carbon 13 isotope). However, the reciprocity between fluid regarding TSR (hydrocarbon, sulfureted hydrogen (H2S) , and water) and reservoir rock results in reservoir rock erosion and anhydrite alteration, which increases porosity in reservoir, thereby improving the petrophysical properties. Superimposed by later tectonic movement, the fluid in Puguang reservoir has twice experienced adjustment, one in the late Yanshan epoch to the early Himalayan epoch and the other time in late Himalayan epoch, after which Puguang gas reservoir is finally developed.

It is usually very difficult to directly obtain molecular dissociation energy De and all accurate high-lying vibrational energies for most diatomic electronic states using modern experimental techniques or quantum theories, and it is also very difficult to give accurate analytical expression for diatomic molecular dissociation energy. This study proposes a new analytical formula for obtaining accurate molecular dissociation energy based on the LeRoy and Bernstein’s energy expression in dissociation limit. A set of full vibrational energy spectra for some electronic states of N2 molecule are studied using the algebraic method (AM) suggested recently, and the corresponding accurate molecular dissociation energies are evaluated using the proposed new formula and high-lying AM vibrational energies. The results show that the AM spectra and the new theoretical dissociation energies agree excellently with experimental data, and thereby providing a new physical approach to generating accurate dissociation energies for electronic states of diatomic molecules.

The Yingfeng rapakivi granite on the north flank of Qaidam is a newly discovered Proterozoic rapakivi pluton in china, which was found after the discovery of Shachang rapakivi in Miyun County, Beijing and Kuandian rapakivi in Jilin Province. Yingfeng rapakivi pluton is ex-posed on the north side of the suture belt between Qinling-Kunlun orogenic belt and North china plate. U-Pb zircon isotopic dating and Ar-Ar isotopic dating of both hornblende and K-feldspar from the Yingfeng rapakivi granite have been conducted. The results show that the age of (1776±33)Ma at the upper intercept in Concorde diagram represents the age of formation of the plu-ton, whereas the age of (526 281) Ma at the lower intercept and Ar-Ar mineral dating of horn-blende and K-feldspar correspond to the age of a later event affecting the pluton, suggesting that Yingfeng pluton has ever been affected by strong regional Caledonian-Hercynian tectonic movement after its formation. The discovery of middle Proterozoic Yingfeng rapakivi granite pro-vides a petrologic evidence for the timing of cratonization of both the continental crust basement in western china and the basement of the North china plate and for a rifting event taking place in the mid-Proterozoic, suggesting that an amalgamation of ancient china continents had ever happened during the L liang Movement?between the early Proterozoic and the mid-Proterozoic.
