BACKGROUND:The development of collaterals in Budd-Chiari syndrome has been described and these collaterals play an important role in the presentation of this *** collaterals are diagnostic and their use in management strategy has never been *** study aimed to investigate the indications,feasibility and necessity of invasive treatment for patients with Budd-Chiari syndrome and to determine whether such a strategy is necessary for optimal ***:Twenty-nine patients who had been treated at our unit were enrolled in this *** on physical and biochemical examination,and hemodynamic compensation by collaterals,18 patients underwent radiological intervention (group A),while the other 11 had no invasive treatment (group B).The related hemodynamic parameters were acquired when percutaneous angiography was ***:In group A,all patients underwent successfully inferior vena cava (IVC) balloon angioplasty with or without *** patients also underwent hepatic vein *** these patients,the mean IVC pressure before and after treatment was statistically different (29.3±9.2 vs 15.1±4.6 mmHg,P4 vs 29.3±9.2 mmHg,P4 vs 15.1±4.6 mmHg,P>0.05).Median follow-up was 32.3 months (mean 21.3 months;range 3-61 months).In the course of follow-up,the patients in group A survived with good systemic status except for re-stenosis in one patient who underwent re-canalization of the *** group B,10 patients had good systemic status except one patient who had a meso-caval shunt because of ***:The rationale of 'early diagnosis and early treatment' is not suitable for all patients with Budd-Chiari *** survival can be achieved in some patients without invasive treatment,who are completely compensated by rich ***

Transgenic mice designed to express human α-1,2-fucosyltransferase in combination of human DAF and CD59 to avoid xenograft rejection

The expression of human α-1,2-fucosyltransferase (HT) or complement regulatory proteins has been proved as an strategy to overcome hypercute rejection in discordant xenogeneic organ transplantation. In this study, we examined whether peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMCs) from polytransgenic mice expressing the human HT, and complement regulatory proteins (DAF and CD59), can provide more effective protection against xenograft rejection. Transgenic mice were produced by co-injection of gene constructs for human HT, DAF and/or CD59. Flow Cytometry (FCM) was used to screen the positive transgenic mice. PBMCs from transgenic mice were incubated with 15% human serum to evaluate natural antibody binding, complement activation and expression of adhesion molecules. Three transgenes were strongly expressed in PBMCs of transgenic mice, and HT expression signifi- cantly reduced expression of the major xenoepitope galactose-α-1,3-galactose (α-Gal). Functional studies with PBMCs showed that co-expression of HT and DAF or CD59 markedly increased their re- sistance to human serum-mediated cytolysis when compared with single transgenic PBMCs. Moreover, the combined expression of triple transgenes in PBMCs led to the greatest protection against human serum-mediated cytolysis, avoided hyperacute rejection and reduced expression of adhesion mole- cules. Strong co-expression of triple transgenes was completely protected from xenograft hyperacute rejection and partially inhibited acute vascular rejection. The studies suggest that engineering mice to express triple molecules represents an critical step toward prolonging xenograft survival and might be more suitable for xenotransplantation.

New application methods for word-oriented cryptographic primitives

Modern software oriented symmetric ciphers have become a key feature in utilizing word-oriented cryptographic *** the output sequence,in the order of its generation,of a word-oriented cryptographic primitive in the same way as traditional bit-oriented primitives,we can expose the intrinsic weakness of these primitives,especially for word-oriented linear feedback shift registers,T-functions,and so *** new methods for using word-oriented cryptographic primitives are presented in this paper,that is,the extracted state method and cascading extracted coordinate *** a T-function as an example,we research the different cryptographic properties of the output sequences of the original method and the two proposed methods,focusing mainly on period,linear complexity,and k-error linear *** conclusions show that the proposed methods could enhance at low cost the cryptographic properties of the output *** a result,since the new methods are simple and easy to implement,they could be used to design new word-oriented cryptographic primitives.

Landslide prediction is one of the most important aspects of prevention and control for geological hazards and the environmental protection. In order to study the nonlinear methods for landslide prediction, the synergetic-bifurcated model of predicting the timing of slope failure is established by combining Synergetics with Bifurcation Theory based on single-state variable friction law in this paper. The synergetic effects and bifurcated process of the factors in the slope evolution can be characterized in the model. Taking the Xintan Landslide as an example, the prediction of landslide is carried out based on the model suggested.

Considering various dynamic factors,the instantaneous position of the solid Earth’s surface is influenced by plate motion,regional tectonic detection,postglacial rebound and other local deformations which will directly affect their veracity and consistency of global vertical datum’s *** secular factors influencing on station’s vertical displacement was analyzed and discussed such as postglacial rebound,land subsidence and so *** origin of those factors and the changed level of vertical displacement are also discussed,and how to detect and forecast those deformations and movements are as well as *** the end,a method to establish global vertical datum of the crustal motion is put forward,which takes SLR vertical velocity fields as reference datum of vertical motion of the crust,and also is validated by using the vertical velocity fields of Satellite Laser Ranging (SLR) technology based on ITRF2008.

The development of china as the world’s manufacturing house is best exemplified in the industry of diamond *** is indispensable in the creation of industrial infrastructure,including the construction of roads and building of *** world’s diamond was provided mainly by countries outside china in last ***,a"great leap forward"has taken shape with rapid expansion in Chinese diamond-making capabilities from the enlargement of the equipment(cubic presses) and improvements in diamond yield and product quality in the end of last *** the turn of this century,china outpaced the rest world combined in the total diamond output,became the largest producer in the world *** 2007,china produced nearly 4.4 billion carats,80%of the world’s diamond total *** Chinese diamond well accepted in the world can be seen in the export statistics of china & import statistics of developed countries in this *** example,59%of USA imported diamonds were from china in 2007;in Japan, 40%. This report contains a survey of some main industrial sectors that use diamond ***,22 tables and figures are used to portray the many facets of superabrasives,including cubic boron *** report also discusses several challenges facing Chinese diamonds,such as the vast price difference between imported diamond grit produced outside china and domestic *** paper also presents an outlook of the future development of the Chinese superabrasives industry basing on the Chinese macroeconomics and the recent data of the end-users as well as their future development *** paper concludes by proposing that although remarkable achievements have been made in the past 45 years,given the fact that Chinese superabrasives industry still lags behind that from the advanced countries on a multitude of variables,further endeavor should be made to make china a super country in the superabrasives industry in the world.

A fingerprint feature extraction algorithm based on curvature of Bezier curve

Fingerprint feature extraction is a key step of fingerprint identification. A novel feature extraction algorithm is proposed in this paper, which describes fingerprint feature with the bending information of fingerprint ridges. Ridges in the specific region of fingerprint images are traced firstly in the algorithm, and then these ridges are fit with Bezier curve. Finally, the point that has the maximal curvature on Bezier curve is defined as a feature point. Experimental results demonstrate that this kind of feature points characterize the bending trend of fingerprint ridges effectively, and they are robust to noise, in addition, the extraction precision of this algorithm is also better than the conventional approaches.
