Li isotopes have many advantageous characteristics as geochemical tracer for a wide range of geological processes,covering fluid/melt-mineral interactions from the Earth’s surface to the *** latest developments in Li isotope geochemistry,in terms of measuring techniques, major geochemical reservoirs,the behaviors during the near-surface weathering and crust/mantle cycling of materials in subducting zone,as well as the signature of convective mantle and controlling factors in Li isotopic fractionation are briefly reviewed in this *** better quantification of partition coefficients(mineral-melt/fiuid) and fractionation factors of Li isotopes (such as temperature and diffusion coefficients),Li isotope system will be a powerful geochemical tracer in future studies.

Three standard minerals GA-1550 biotite,LP-6 biotite and Bern-4M muscovite used for K-Ar and Ar-Ar dating have been investigated by the single grain Rb-Sr *** to the K-Ar and Ar-Ar results previously reported,these mica standards nevertheless show complex characteristics in the Rb-Sr isotopic *** on eight individual grains of GA-1550 biotite gives a Rb-Sr isochron age of 98.7±1.9 Ma,consistent with previous dating results of the K-Ar and stepwise heating and laser ablation Ar-Ar *** evidence of the laser ablation Ar-Ar analyses in many previous studies demonstrates that LP-6 biotite is considerably inhomogeneous in the K-Ar isotopic system,Rb-Sr isotopic analyses on ten individual biotite grains show achievement of Sr isotopic equilibrium during crystallization.A Rb-Sr isochron age of 128.2±2.2 Ma calculated from the analytical results is concordant with those previously reported K-Ar and Ar-Ar ages obtained from c.30 mg aliquots of biotite *** age reproducibility on Bern-4M muscovite was previously achieved by K-Ar and Ar-Ar dating by total fusion in c.30 mg aliquots of muscovite grains,but single grain Rb-Sr analytical results in this study demonstrate considerable disequilibrium of Sr isotopic system during crystallization of *** discordance in the Rb-Sr and K-Ar isotopic systems of two standard minerals indicates complex factors that can influence isotopic disequilibrium of both isotopic systems.

The Sichuan Basin,located in the western margin of Yangtze Plate,is one of the important oil-gas-bearing basins in china. During the Early Permian-Middle Triassic,the Sichuan Basin experienced regional lithospheric extension and Emeishan basalt activities,both of which influenced the basin development and thermal *** we simulated the thermal effects of lithospheric extension and the Emeishan mantle plume based on different geodynamical *** results indicated that the lithospheric temperature together with the basement heat flow was generally increasing with time due to *** the stretching factor was relatively small,the thinning of lithosphere,and consequently the thermal disturbance,was not great. The lithospheric extension yielded about 20%increase of the basement heat flow,with maximum value of 60-62 mW m in the Early *** plume model shows that the thermal evolution of the inner zone above the plume head was influenced greatly by plume *** the outer zone and its outside area where the Sichuan Basin is located were affected only *** basalts that had erupted in the southwestern basin might disturb the basin temperature significantly,although shortly and ***,the thermal history of the Sichuan basin during the Early Permian-Middle Triassic was controlled by the lithospheric extension,but locally it superimposed thermal effects of basalt activities in its southwestern area.

Geochronological,petrological and geochemical studies were performed on the granulite xenoliths from a Late Cretaceous basaltic breccia dike in Junan,Shandong province,eastern *** xenoliths show close similarities to the Nushan granulite xenoliths from the southern margin of the North china Craton(NCC)and the Archean granulite terrains in terms of mineralogy and bulk rock compositions,but are quite different from the Hanuoba mafic granulite xenoliths from the northern ***-situ zircon U-Pb age and Hf isotopic analyses,together with geochemical data reveal that the protolith of these xenoliths was formed around 2.3 Ga ago,through assimilation-fractional crystallization of a mafic magma.P-T conditions of these xenoliths suggest that the lower crust beneath the Junan region reaches to a depth of 35 km,which agree well with the result deduced from various geophysical *** consistent petrological and seismic Moho depths,the observed velocity structure and calculated velocity of these xenoliths imply the absence of underplating induced crust-mantle transition zone,which was well formed in the northern *** to 40-50 km depth of the lower crust in Early Jurassic,the lower crust beneath Junan extended to a depth of 30 km in Late Cretaceous,suggesting that the lower crust of NCC was significantly thinned during Late Mesozoic.

In-situ zircon U-Pb ages,Hf isotopic compositions and whole rock geochemical and Sr-Nd isotopic compositions are presented for three Mesozoic syenitic-monzonitic intrusions from Shanxi province,central North china *** from these intrusions all show core-rim structures in that the oscillatory rims recorded their intrusive ages,whereas the cores are interpreted as *** U-Pb age data reveal that the northernmost Dishuiyan monzonite was emplaced at 241 Ma,while the Huyanshan and Erfengshan syenitic-monzonitic complexes were emplaced at 130 Ma and 128-134 Ma,*** Dishuiyan monzonite is petrologically and geochemically uniform,it shows LREE enrichment and HFSE depletion and exhibits enriched Sr and Nd isotopic compositions with(Sr/Sr) = 0.7065 and sNd(t) = -*** zircon rims in the Dishuiyan monzonite show highly varied Hf isotopic compositions withεHf(t) = -*** varied Hf isotopic compositions and enriched Sr-Nd isotopic compositions,together with the ubiquitous xenocrystic zircon cores, suggest the Dishuiyan monzonite was produced by the mixing of melts from enriched lithospheric mantle and lower *** monzonite and syenite from the Huyanshan complexes exhibit different geochemical features. TheεNd(t) values of syenite,which are higher than those of monzonite resemble the enriched lithospheric mantle,and together with the absence of zircon in the syenite,we propose that it was originated by partial melting of enriched lithospheric *** from Huyanshan and Erfengshan share similar petrological and geochemical characteristics,being enriched in LREE and depleted in HFSE,and they show lowεNd(t) values between - 18.2 and - *** to zircon rims in the Dishuiyan monzonite,those in the Huyanshan and Erfengshan monzonites also exhibit highly varied Hf isotopic *** consistent ages between the xenocrystic zircons in monzonites and the lower crustal basement rocks of the NCC reveal a significant con

A passive seismic experiment across the Longmenshan(LMS) fault belt had been conducted between August 2006 and July 2007 for the understanding of geodynamic process between the Eastern Tibet and Sichuan *** herein collected 3677 first P arrival times with high precision from seismograms of 288 teleseismic events so as to reconstruct the upper mantle velocity *** results show that the depth of the Lithosphere-asthenosphere boundary(LAB) changes from 70 km beneath Eastern Tibet to about 110 km beneath Longquanshan,Sichuan Basin,which is consistent with the receiver function imaging *** very thin mantle part of the lithosphere beneath Eastern Tibet may suggest the lith-osphere delamination due to strong interaction between the Tibetan eastward escaping flow and the rigid resisting Sichuan basin,which can be further supported by the existences of two high-velocity anomalies beneath LAB in our imaging *** also find there are two related low-velocity anomalies beneath the LMS fault belt,which may indicate magmatic upwelling from lithosphere delamination and account for the origin of tremendous energy needed by the devastating Wenchuan earthquake.

We describe a precise and accurate method for the direct determination of the Sr/Sr isotope ratio of botded Sr-rich natural mineral drinking water using multiple collector inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry(MC-ICP-MS).The method is validated by the comparative analysis of the same water with and without cation-exchange resin *** work indicates that isobarically interfering elements can be corrected for when Rb/Sr<0.05(Rb/Sr<0.015),and that the matrix elements(Ca,Mg,K and Na) have no significant effect on the accuracy of the Sr isotope *** method is simple,rapid,eliminates sample preparation time,and avoids potential contamination during complicated sample-preparation procedures. Therefore,the high sample throughput inherent to the MC-ICP-MS can be fully exploited.

Recent advances in the molecular dynamics simulations of spontaneous nucleation and growth of methane hydrate show that an amorphous phase of the hydrate is first ***,the amorphous hydrate has not been well described,due to the insufficient identification of cage ***,we develop a method,called "face-saturated incomplete cage analysis",which can identify all face-saturated cages in a given *** a result,it is found that thousands of cage types and abundant occupancy states are present in the amorphous ***, the crystallinity of amorphous hydrate is evaluated according to the quantitative calculation of cage linking structures,and the critical nucleus of hydrate is also estimated on the basis of clustering analysis for all face-saturated cages.

Zoned olivine grains are abundant in the late Mesozoic Shatuo gabbro(southern Taihang Mountains,central North china Craton).Olivine cores are rich in MgO and NiO,rims are rich in FeO and MnO,and both cores and rims have very low CaO *** cores invariably have a high Mg no.(92-94),similar to olivine xenocrysts from Palaeozoic kimberlites in eastern china. The compositional features of these olivines imply that they are xenocrysts rather than phenocrysts, namely,disaggregates of mantle peridotites at the time of *** compositional similarity of olivine cores to xenocrysts from Palaeozoic kimberlites suggests that the lithospheric mantle beneath the central North china Craton is ancient and refractory in nature,and quite different from eastern china,where the mantle is mainly composed of newly accreted materials resulting from large-scale lithospheric removal and *** contrasting features of the lithospheric mantle beneath the eastern and central North china Craton imply that the large-scale lithospheric removal in Phanerozoic times was mainly confined to the eastern North china Craton.
