Shell effect and capture cross sections in the synthesis of superheavy nuclei

The shell effect is included in the improved isospin dependent quantum molecular dynamics model in which the shell correction energy of the system is calculated by using the deformed two-center shell model.A switch function is introduced to connect the shell correction energy of the projectile and the target with that of the compound nucleus during the dynamical fusion *** is found that the calculated capture cross sections reproduce the experimental data quantitatively at the energy near the Coulomb *** capture cross sections for reaction 8305 Br + 28028 Pb → 121878X are also calculated and discussed.

Modelling Accelerating Growth with Intermittent Processes in Evolving Networks

In this paper,the acceleratingly growing network model with intermittent processes is *** thegrowing network,there exist both accelerating and intermittent *** network is grown from the number ofnodes mo and the number of links added with each new node is a nonlinearly increasing function m+aNβ（t）f（t）,whereN（t） is the number of nodes present at time t.f（t） is the periodic and bistable function with period T,whose values are1 and 0 indicating accelerating and intermittent processes,*** we denote the ratio r of acceleration timeto whole *** study the degree distribution p（k） of the model,focusing on the dependence of p（k） on the networkparameters τ,T,m,α,N,and β.It is found that there exists a phase transition point,kc such that if kc,then p（k）obeys a power-law distribution with exponent -γ1,while if k>kc,then p（k） exhibits a power-law distribution withexponent-γ2.Moreover,the exponents γ1 and γ2 are independent of τ,T,m,a,and N,while they depend only onthe parameter β.More interesting,the phase transition point is described by kc=aNβ,which is equal to the value atwhich p（k） is maximum in GM model.

Further Analysis of Neutron Double-Differential Cross Section of n+16O at 14.1 MeV and 18 MeV

By using a new reaction model for light nuclei, the double-differential cross section of total outgoing neutronwith LUNF code for n +16O reactions at E_n=14.1 MeV and 18 MeV have been calculated and analyzed. In this paperthe opened reaction channels, which have contribution to emitting the neutrons, are listed in detail. To improve thefitting results the direct inelastic scattering mechanism is involved. The calculating results agree fairly well with theexperimental data at E_n=14.1 MeV and the deviation from calculated results and experimental data in low energyregion at E_n=18 MeV has been analyzed. Since the possibility of5He has been affirmed theoretically [J.S. Zhang,Sci. Chin. G 47 （2004） 137], so5He emission from n +16O reaction is taken into account, which plays an importantrole at the region of the outgoing neutron energy ε_n<3 MeV in total outgoing neutron energy-angular spectrum. Thecalculated results inclicate that the pre-equilibrium mechanism dominates the whole reaction processes, and the recoileffect in light nuclear reactions is essentially important.

By using a new reaction model for light nuclei,the double-differential cross section of n+14N reactions atE_n=14.2 MeV has been *** the case of n+（14）N reactions,the reaction mechanism is cery complex,there areover one hundred opened partial reaction channels even at incident energy En=14.2 *** this paper the openedreaction channels are listed in detail. With LUNF code the model calculation is performed to analyze the double-differential cross sections of total outgoing neutron. The calculated results agree fairly with the experimenal *** indicate that the pre-equilibrium mechanism mechanism dominates the whole reation processes,and the recoil effect in lightnuclear reactions is essentially important.5He emission has been considered,but it is only a small contribution to thedonble-differential cross section at incident energy En=14.2 MeV.

Optical waveguides in LiNbO_3 and stoichiometric LiNbO_3 crystals by proton exchange

The formation of optical planar waveguides in LiNbO3 and stoichiometric LiNbO3 crystals by proton exchange was reported. The prism-coupling method was used to characterize the dark-line spectroscopy at the wavelength of 633 and 1539 nm, re-spectively. The mode optical near-field outputs from proton-exchanged LiNbO3 and SLN waveguides at 633 nm were presented. The mode field from stoichiometric LiNbO3 (SLN) waveguide is lighter and more uniform than that from LiNbO3 waveguide, which means the quality of the waveguide in SLN crystal is better than that of the LiNbO3 waveguide. For proton-exchanged LiNbO3 waveguides, the evo-lution of the refractive index profile with annealing was presented. The disorder profiles of Nb atoms in proton-exchanged LiNbO3 waveguides were obtained by Rutherford backscattering/channeling technique. It is shown that the longer the exchange time, the larger the displacement of Nb atoms.

Based on the light nucleus reaction model (***.133 (1999) 218),four aspects (neutron incidentenergy region,reaction channel analysis,the renewed level schemes and the optical model parameters) of n+C reactionare improved to calculate total outgoing neutron double-differential cross sections with modified LUNF code below30 *** calculated results agree fairly well with the experimental data at E=14.1 MeV and 18 *** shows that the pre-equilibrium mechanism,which is exactly considered the conservation of energy,momentumand parity,dominates the whole reaction *** contribution of the neutron emission from ~5He to total energy-angular spectra is also considered *** modified LUNF code will be a useful tool to set up the file of neutrondouble-differential cross sections below 30 Me V in the neutron evaluation nuclear data library.

Luminosity-peak energy relation in the decay phases of gamma-ray burst pulses

Using time-resolved spectral data for a sample of 30 pulses in 27 bright GRBs detected with CGRO/BATSE, we investigate the luminosity-peak energy relation (L-E p relation) in the decay phases of these pulses. A tight L-E p relation is found for most of the pulses, but its power law index is various among pulses, which is normally distributed at 1.84±0.60(1σ) for the pulses in our sample, roughly consistent with the L-E p relation within a GRB and the isotropic gamma-ray energy-E p relation among GRBs. The large scatter of the power law index cannot be explained with both the statistical or observational effects and it may be an intrinsic feature, indicating that no universal L-E p relation would be expected among GRBs/pulses. This may strongly weaken the cosmological use of this relation.

Codimension 3 nonresonant bifurcations of homoclinic orbits with two inclination flips

Homoclinic bifurcations in four-dimensional vector fields are investigated by setting up a local coordinate near a homoclinic orbit. This homoclinic orbit is principal but its stable and unstable foliations take inclination flip. The existence, nonexistence, and uniqueness of the 1-homoclinic orbit and 1-periodic orbit are studied. The existence of the two-fold 1-periodic orbit and three-fold 1 -periodic orbit are also obtained. It is indicated that the number of periodic orbits bifurcated from this kind of homoclinic orbits depends heavily on the strength of the inclination flip.

Probing into the Sino-American Cross-National Marriage Failures:An Intercultural Perspective

With china’s opening to the outside world, Chinese people’s attitude toward marriage has been undergoing great changes. Cross National marriages(CNMs) emerge as a result of economic development, social progress, cultural exchanges and freedom of marriage. However, according to statistics, CNMs are not always successful and satisfactory as they look: the divorce rate is reported to be on the increase. The paper studies several Sino American CNM cases which ended in failure from an intercultural perspective, and on that bases it points out that it is not cultural differences but people’s attitudes toward cultural differences that lead to the breakdown of the CNMs. In this paper, ethnocentrism is specially discussed as a major barrier to successful intercultural communication. And suggestions such as developing empathy, learning about cultural adaptation are offered to improve the quality of the CNMs and the competence of intercultural communication.
