Thermodynamical data of rare earth complexes with amino acid are important for engineering chemistry and fundamental chemistry. However, they have rarely been reported. In this work, a series of crystalline complexes of rare earth perchlorate coordinated with glutamic acid have been synthesized in water medium, and their thermodynamical data, including the heat capacity in low temperature range and the standard enthalpy of formation, were determined. These complexes were identified to be [RE2(Glu)2(H2O)8](ClO4)4·H2O (RE = Nd, Eu, Dy) by using thermogravimetric analysis (TG), differential thermal analysis (DTA), and chemical and elementary analyses. Their purity has been determined. No melting points were observed for all the three complexes. The heat capacity of the complexes was measured by an adiabatic calorimeter from 79 to 370 K. Abnormal heat capacity values were detected for two of the complexes and the decomposition range of one complex was found. The temperature, enthalpy change and entropy change of the decomposition processes of the three complexes were calculated. The polynomial equations of heat capacity in the experimental temperature range have been obtained by least squares fitting. The standard enthalpy of formation was determined by an isoperibol reaction calorimeter at 298.15 K.

Microarray analysis is used to identify transcriptional targets. However, the direct targets of transcription factors cannot be distin- guished from indirect ones; further, genes with low-expression levels cannot be identi ed by this method. In the present study, we exploit the cis-element dehydration-responsive element (DRE) that is known to be responsible for the transcription of DRE binding factor 1 (DREB1) targets in the promoter region of all Arabidopsis genes. Putative targets whose promoters contain the elements were veri ed by both microarray and reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) analysis. Five new DREB1/CBF direct targets were identi ed. Compared with traditional microarray analysis, our method is convenient and cost-e ective for identifying the downstream targets of transcription factors.

A kind of novel heat-resistant, high performance engineering thermoplastic phthalazinone poly(aryl ether sulfone ketone) (PPESK) containing a carboxyl group in its side chain was prepared by the nucleophilic displacement reaction of 4-(4-hydroxylphenyl)- 1 (2H)-phthalazinone with di(4-chlorophenyl) sulfone, 4,4'-difluoro-benzophenone and phenolphthalin in sulfolane in the presence of K2CO3 to produce high molecular weight polymers which can be dissolved in some polar solvents such as chloroform and nitrobenzene at room temperature and can be easily cast into flexible, yellowish and transparent films. PPESK is an amorphous polymer having a decomposition temperature above 400degreesC, which indicates that it has high thermal stability. At the same time, the thermal properties of PPESKs with dicyandiamide (DICY) as curing agent indicated that the heat-resistance properties of the PPESKs are improved after curing. The apparent activation energy (A-E) of the cross-linking reaction and the reaction order (n) of PPESK/DICY were found to be 52.2 kJ/mol and ca. 1.0, respectively. Therefore, the cross-linking reaction is approximately a first order reaction.

An ammonia-oxidizing strain of Penicillium sp., M25-22 which was isolated from chicken feces compost, was studied to make clear its characteristics of ammonium oxidation and provide references for its application in aerobic composting. In media containing （NH4）2SO4 at a concentration of 0.5 g 100 mL^-1, mycelium weight and utilization ratio of ammonium nitrogen increased markedly during the 1st 5 d, concentration of nitrate increased markedly from the 3rd to the 5th d and concentration of nitrite remained at a low level. The strain showed the ability to oxidize ammonium nitrogen growing in media containing glucose, sucrose, starch, or cellulose as the sole carbon source and to oxidize the negative trivalent nitrogen of ammonium sulfate, peptone, acetamide, urea, or L-aspartate. Slowly available carbon or nitrogen sources such as starch, cellulose, and peptone were beneficial to ammonium oxidation. In media containing sucrose as the sole carbon source and ammonium sulfate as the sole nitrogen source, nitrate formation was the most pronounced with sucrose present at a concentration of 12 g L^-1 and ammonium nitrogen present at a concentration of 2.438 mg mL% at the initial pH level of 7.5 and at 30℃.

Influences of Quinclorac on Culturable Microorganisms and Soil Respiration in Flooded Paddy Soil

Objective To investigate the potential effects of herbicide quinclorac (3,7-dichloro-8-quinoline-carboxylic) on the culturable microorganisms in flooded paddy soil. Methods Total soil aerobic bacteria, actinomycetes and fungi were counted by a 10-fold serial dilution plate technique. Numbers of anaerobic fermentative bacteria (AFB), denitrifying bacteria (DNB) and hydrogen-producing acetogenic bacteria (HPAB) were numerated by three-tube anaerobic most-probable-number (MPN) methods with anaerobic liquid enrichment media. The number of methanogenic bacteria (MB) and nitrogen-fixing bacteria (NFB) was determined by the rolling tube method in triplicate. Soil respiration was monitored by a 102G-type gas chromatography with a stainless steel column filled with GDX-104 and a thermal conductivity detector. Results Quinclorac concentration was an important factor affecting the populations of various culturable microorganisms. There were some significant differences in the aerobic heterotrophic bacteria. AFB and DNB between soils were supplemented with quinclorac and non-quinclorac at the early stage of incubation, but none of them was persistent. The number of fungi and DNB was increased in soil samples treated by lower than 1.33μg·g-1 dried soil, while the CFU of fungi and HPAB was inhibited in soil samples treated by higher than 1.33μg·g-1 dried soil. The population of actinomycete declined in negative proportion to the concentrations of quinclorac applied after 4 days. However, application of quinclorac greatly stimulated the growth of AFB and NFB. MB was more sensitive to quinclorac than the others, and the three soil samples with concentrations higher than 1 μg·g-1 dried soil declined significantly to less than 40% of that in the control, but the number of samples with lower concentrations of quinclorac was nearly equal to that in the control at the end of experiments. Conclusion Quinclorac is safe to the soil microorganisms when applied at normal concentrations (0.67

Clonal plants in Mu Us sandland change the sandy enviroment. The clonal plant is a kind of resource in restoration of the Mu Us sandy landscape. Soil samples at depth of 50 cm in the rhizosphere of the clonal plants were collected in 4 replicates at each location and divided into sections corresponding to 0—10, 10—20, 20—30, 30—40 and 40—50 cm depths in two representative sites from north to south in Mu Us sandland, northwestern china, in July 2005. Clonal plants included Psammochloa villosa and Hedysarum laeve. The colonization and ecological distribution of arbuscular mycorrhizal (AM) fungi were investigated in the rhizosphere of clonal plants in Mu Us sandland. The results showed that the clonal plants established well symbiosis with AM fungi; AM fungal species and spatial distribution were significantly related with the host plants and soil factors. Of 16 AM fungal taxa in three genera isolated and identified, Glomus multicaule was only observed in the rhizosphere of Psammochloa villosa; Glomus aggregatum, Glomus hydembadensis, Glomus constrictum and Acaulospora rehmii only appeared in the rhizosphere of Hedysarum leave. The depth of soil layers observably affected the spore density and the frequency of colonization (%F). The maximal %F and spore density occurred in the 10—20 cm layer at the site of Ordos Sandy Land Ecological Station, but which occurred in the 0—10 cm layer in Shanxi Yulin Rare Sandy-plants Conversation Field. AM fungal status and colonization might be used to monitor desertification and soil degradation.

A total of 973 isolates of endophytic fungi were recovered from 1144 tissue fragments of the six me-dicinal plant species belonging to 4 families collected in the Beijing Botanical Garden. Of these isolates 778 sporulated and were identified into 21 taxa by morphological characteristics. Among the taxa 11 belonged to Coelomycetes, 6 to Ascomycetes, and 4 to Hyphomycetes. Various numbers of endophytic fungi (5―8 taxa) were obtained from each plant. Alternaria alternata was the dominant species in the 6 plants, and Microsphaeropsis conielloides was also dominant in Eucommia ulmoides. There were high colonization rates (47.9%―63.1%) and isolation rates (0.7―0.93) of endophytic fungi, and they were conspicuously higher in twigs than those in leaves in the 6 plants examined. The colonization and isolation rates of endophytic fungi increased with the twig age. The results based on the analyses of cluster and Sorenson's similarity coefficients indicated that some endophytic fungi showed a certain degree of host and tissue preference.

Aiming at the problem of 3D reconstruction for mine laneway, the technique route and step were given based on digital close range photogrammetry and traverse surveying. 3D coordinates of laneway traverse point, photogrammetric station, control strip points were obtained by electronic total station based on mine coordinate system. The feature points were extracted from the scene images. The camera was calibrated by direct linear transformation (DLT). 3D relative coordinates of the arbitrary feature points in mine laneway were calculated after feature points being matched, in which the origin of coordinate system is photogrammetric station. The 3D absolute coordinates of the feature points in mine laneway can be obtained by the combined adjustment of photogrammetry and non-photogrammetric observations and coordinate conversion. The measurable 3D model of the underground laneway terrain surface was constructed with the 3D coordinates of feature points on the image pairs obtained. The measurable 3D model of a corridor was reconstructed by the mentioned method and the experiment precision with an average standard deviation of 0.013 6 m between the 3D model and practical measure was obtained by electronic total station. The experimental resulted show the validity of the proposed approach.

Comprehensive benefit of flood resources utilization through dynamic successive fuzzy evaluation model: A case study

Taking the flood resources utilization in Baicheng, Jilin during 2002–2007 as the research background, and based on the entropy weight and multi-level & multi-objective fuzzy optimization theory, this research established a multi-level & semi-constructive index system and dynamic successive evaluation model for comprehensive benefit evaluation of regional flood resources utilization. With the year 2002 as the base year, the analyzing results showed that there existed a close positive correlation between flood utilization volume and its benefits, comprehensive evaluation value and its comparison increment. Within the six successive evaluation years, the comprehensive benefit of 2003 was the best, in which the benefit evaluation increment reached 82.8% whereas the year of 2004 was the worst, in which the increment was only 18.2%. Thus the sustainability and correctness of the evaluation were verified by six years successive evaluation and increment comparison. The analyzing results showed that the economic benefits, ecological benefits and social benefits of flood utilization were remarkable, and that the comprehensive benefit could be improved by increasing flood utilization capacity, which would promote the regional sustainable development as well. The established dynamic successive evaluation provides a stable theoretical basis and technical support for further flood utilization.
