We present results of multi-epoch XMM-Newton observations separated by several years of the narrow-line Seyfert 1(NLS1) galaxy,SDSS J160508.87+*** NLS1 showed X-ray flux variations on timescales of years as well as low amplitude variations on timescales as short as hours,while the X-ray spectral shape remained essentially *** spectrum shows a significant soft X-ray *** model of reflection from an ionized disc,that is dominant in the whole XMM-Newton bandpass,provides the best description of the observed spectra for all the observations,though alternatives such as Compton scattering(T-0.25 keV) cannot be ruled out in a statistical *** the disc reflection model,the observed variations may originate either from the change in the reflection fraction,or from the variability of the intrinsic X-ray luminosity.

Relation between Starlight and Nebular Emission Lines of Star-Forming Galaxies

We present an exercise that intends to establish a relationship between the strength of nebular emission lines and optical stellar features in the spectrum of a galaxy. After accurately subtracting the stellar continuum and the underlying stellar absorption, we made reliable measurements of the emission lines of all the galaxies in the Sloan Digital Sky Survey Data Release 2 (SDSS DR2). More than 4000 star-forming galaxies with high S/N ratio of both the stellar spectrum and the emission lines are selected. These galaxy spectra are fitted with the 10 PCs of Yip et al., after all the emission line regions have been filtered out. We find that the flux of hydrogen Balmer emission lines, Ha and Hβcan be well recovered from the PCs, while the metal lines are not well reproduced. The fluxes of Ha and Hβmeasured from the PC-reconstructed spectra and from the observed spectra agree well with an rms scatter of only - 0.1 dex. Epidemic dynamics on complex networks

Recently, motivated by the pioneer work in revealing the small-world effect and scale-free property of various real-life networks, many scientists devote themselves to studying complex networks. One of the ultimate goals is to understand how the topological structures affect the dynamics upon networks. In this paper, we give a brief review on the studies of epidemic dynamics on complex networks, including the description of classical epidemic models, the epidemic spread on small-world and scale-free networks, and network immunization. Finally, perspectives and some interesting problems are proposed.

The Structure of Narrow-Line Region in LINERs

Low-ionization nuclear emission regions （LINERs） are present in a large fraction of local galaxies, while their connection to the more luminous active galactic nuclei （AGN） remains elusive. We analyze the narrow band images obtained by the Hubble Space Telescope （HST） in Hα＋[NII] and/or [OIII] band for 23 LINERs and low luminosity Seyfert galaxies in the sample of the Palomar Optical Spectroscopic Survey of nearby galaxies in an attempt to resolve the structure of Narrow Emission Line Regions （NLRs） of these objects. In all cases, NLRs are well resolved and their morphology differs from object to object. Clumps, linear structure, spiral arms or a ring are detected in a large fraction of the objects, while there is no significant difference between Seyfert galaxies and LINERs. We find that the NLR size and the narrow line luminosity are strongly correlated for both LINERs and low luminosity Seyfert galaxies, and that the size of Ha＋[NII] emission line region scales with Ha luminosity as RNLR ∝ LHα^0.44＋0.06, consistent with an extension of the NLR size-luminosity relation defined for luminous Seyfert galaxies and quasars, to two orders of magnitude lower in luminosity and to lower activity levels. Our results suggest that NLRs in LINERs are similar to those of Seyfert galaxies, and they are powered by the central active galactic nucleus.

Effects of radial velocity on line profiles and images from the standard thin disk

This paper has derived the general formulae of observed line profiles based on the effects of radial velocity on the standard thin disk fluid around a rotating black hole. Through the ray-tracing method the line profiles of different parameters have been calculated. Comparison of the line profiles with and without a radial velocity shows that the effects of radial velocity on line profiles cannot be neglected in most cases. In both cases the accretive disk imaging shape remains unchanged.
