In this paper we study the method of interpolation by radial basis functions and give some error estimates in Sobolev space H^k（Ω）（k 〉 1）. With a special kind of radial basis function, we construct a basis in H^k（Ω） and derive a meshless method for solving elliptic partial differential equations. We also propose a method for computing the global data density.

Semantic search is a key issue in integration of heterogeneous biological databases. In this paper, we present a methodology for implementing semantic search in BioDW, an integrated biological data warehouse. Two tables are presented: the DB2.O table to correlate Gene Ontology (GO) annotated entries from BioDW data sources with GO, and the semantic similarity table to record similarity scores derived from any pair of GO terms. Based on the two tables, multifarious ways for semantic search are provided and the corresponding entries in heterogeneous biological databases in semantic terms can be expediently searched.

Heart valve diseases threaten human health. One reliable way to save lives of such patients is to replace the pathologically changed heart valves by artificial ones. Over 2.million patients have received LTI-carbon heart valve’s implantation. However, the thrombosis after the implantation is one of the difficulties that need to be solved. In order to improve the blood compatibility and security of mechanical heart valves, ion beam technology was used to modify the surface properties of the materials. The investigation results have been summarized in this paper.

The developmental control of the human ε-globin gene expression is mediated by transcrip- tional regulatory elements in the 5’ flanking DNA of this gene. A previously identified negative regulatory element (–302. to –2.02.bp, termed ε-NRAII) was analyzed and one putative NF-κB site and two GATA sites locate at –3004 bp, –2.75 bp and –2.48 bp were characterized. Electrophoresis mobility shift assay (EMSA) showed that the putative NF-κB site was specifically bound by nuclear proteins of K562.cells. Data obtained from transient transfection showed that the expression of reporter gene could be upregulated about 50% or 100% respectively when ε-NRAII was inserted upstream of the SV40 promoter or ε-globin gene proximal promoter (–177 bp to +1 bp), suggesting that ε-NRAII might not be a classic silencer. Mutation in the putative NF-κB site or in the GATA site (at –2.75 bp) slightly reduced the expression of reporter gene driven by SV40 promoter or ε-globin gene proximal promoter. However, the mutation of GATA site at –2.48 bp remarkably reduced the reporter gene activity driven by SV40 promoter, but not by ε-globin gene proximal promoter. Further mutation analysis showed that the negative effect of mutation in GATA site at –2.48 bp on SV40 promoter was not affected by the mutation of the putative NF-κB site, whereas it could be abolished by the mutation of GATA site at –2.75 bp. Furthermore, the mutation of both GATA sites could synergistically reduce the reporter gene activity driven by ε-globin gene proximal promoter. Those results suggested that ε- NRAII might function differently on the SV40 promoter and ε-globin gene proximal promoter.

Filtering efficiency of the chinese-made filter 1 has been measured by the double-filter method with only one set of measurement equipment. The β counts of the two filters are measured in turn for every 3 minutes, from which the decay constants are extracted to be 0.0131 min-1 and 0.012. min-1 for the first and second filter respectively. After correcting the β counts of the second filter, the filtering efficiency of the filter is obtained to be (87.4±0.7)% in average.

Analysis of observed ozone data in 2.06 from five monitoring sites (Xujiahui, Chongming, Baoshan, Pudong, Jinshan) in shanghai reveals that ozone (O_3) concentrations in Xujiahui are higher at week-ends than those on weekdays, despite the fact that emissions of ozone precursor substances, such as oxides of nitrogen (NOx), carbon monoxide (CO) and volatile organic compounds (VOCs) are lower at weekends than those on weekdays. The possible chemical cause of ozone "weekend effect" is that NO_2.NO ratio increases at weekends by 2..61% compared with those on weekdays. In addition, because of an average 12.13% reduction in NOx (NO + NO_2. in the early morning (05:00-09:00) at weekends compared with that on weekdays, the ozone inhibition period ends 0.5 h earlier at weekends resulting in the longer duration of ozone accumulation and the higher ozone production rate. The rate of ozone production is a function of VOCs and NOx in the atmosphere. VOCs/NOx ratio in Xujiahui is 4.55 at weekends, and 4.37 on weekdays, belonging to the "NOx-limited". The increasing VOCs/NOx ratio at weekends leads to ozone enhancement from 73 ppbv to 80 ppbv, which are consistent with ozone "weekend effect" in Xujiahui. Furthermore, combining with MICAPS cloud amount data, the fact that ozone "weekend effect" in Xujiahui weakens gradually along with the increasing of cloud amount indicates that ozone photochemical production leads to ozone "weekend effect" in Xujiahui of shanghai.

The Noble Burials of the Yue State at Hongshan in Wuxi City with many fancy burial objects were excavated by Archaeology Institute of Jiangsu Province and Xishan District Committee for Administration of Cultural Relics of china. It was appraised as one of the ten major archaeological excavations in 2.04. Some precious ceramic samples excavated from this site are very important for studying the development history of chinese {2., especially for studying the origin of porcelain. With the cooperation of Archaeology Institute of Nanjing Museum, the ceramic samples excavated from the Noble Burials of the Yue State at Hongshan were collected and systematically analyzed. Compared with the celadon samples produced in Yue-kiln site during later Eastern Han Dynasty (2.–2.0 A.D.), some important topics such as the provenance and properties of the ceramic samples excavated from the Noble Burials of the Yue State at Hongshan were deeply studied.

Indium tin oxide (ITO) thin films were deposited on a RF diode sputtering system under different sputtering voltages and optimized sputtering ambient,*** O\-2.partial pressure and total pressure of O\-2.and *** morphology,structure and oxygen deficiency of the ITO films were studied using atomic force microscopy (AFM),X\|ray diffractogram (XRD) and X\|ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS),*** indicated by the results,the films deposited under higher sputtering voltage showed higher crystal order and larger oxygen *** optimization work has led to the production of ITO films with a resistivity as low as 1.76×10 -4 Ω·cm,an integrated luminous transmittance of 76.0% and an integrated solar transmittance of 52.5% with no substrate heating or post\|deposition annealing.
