＜正＞Sleep is crucial to memory consolidation in humans and other animals;however,the effect of insufficient sleep on subsequent learning and memory remains largely *** this study,learning and memory after 1-day sleep deprivation （SD） was evaluated using Pavlovian olfactory conditioning in Drosophila,and locomotor activity was measured using the Drosophila Activity Monitoring System in a 12:12 light:dark *** found that SD specifically impaired 1-h memory in wild type Canton-S flies,and this effect could persist for at least 2 ***,alternative stresses（heat stress,oxidative stress,starvation,and rotation stress） did not result in a similar effect and left the flies’ memory *** studies demonstrated that flies with either silenced transmission of the mushroom body（MB） during SD or down-regulated cAMP levels in the MB demonstrated no SD-induced 1-h memory impairment ? In a conclusion,SD specifically impaired 1-h memory in Drosophila,and either silencing of MB transmission during SD or down-regulation of the cAMP level in the MB protected the flies from SD-induced impairment.

Some new mesogen-jacketed liquid crystalline polymers (MJLCP) with polymer backbones, spacers, and mesogenic units of different structures were synthesized by radical polymerization. The mesomorphic behavior of these polymers was examined using differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) and polarizing optical microscopy (POM). Their liquid crystallinity is influenced by the variation of polymer backbone, spacer, mesogenic unit and its terminal groups. The results show that 1) a more flexible polymer main-chain is more favorable to the formation of a liquid crystal phase, while 2) a flexible spacer will decrease the 'Jacket Effect' and the liquid crystallinity and 3) a subtle modification of the terminal groups on the mesogenic unit may also have a significant influence on properties of the polymers.

The existence of spurious steady solutions and period-2 solutions in constant timestep is studied. The concepts of R[1]-regularity and R[2]-regularity of a class of hybrid methods for dynamical systems of ordinary differential equations are introduced and studied. Some conditions guaranteeing R[1]-regularity and R[2]-regularity of such methods applied to dynamical systems of ordinary differential equations with some important structures are given.

[1]This study presents high-resolution multiproxy analyses on two Late Devonian sequences for characterizing the environmental changes during the Frasnian-Famennian (F-F) transition in south *** isotope signatures of the carbonate and organic matter consistently show two positive excursions in the late rhenana zone and around the F-F boundary,implying two increased organic carbon burial events. These observations are consistent with the records from other continents,providing further support for the documented perturbations of the global carbon *** indices, mainly of the Cu/Al and U/Al ratios,and hydrothermal-volcanic proxies,A1/(A1+Fe) and Zr/Al,indicate reducing conditions and increased hydrothermal-volcanic activities during these carbon isotope ***-resolution investigations revealed that the reducing conditions predate the onset of the carbon isotope excursions, suggesting that the two positive carbon isotope shifts are likely caused by the expansion of anoxic *** low A1/(A1+Fe) ratio around the F-F boundary leads the U/Al and Cu/Al anomalies in timing,implying that this anoxic event might have resulted from a long-term cumulative effect of intense hydrothermal-volcanic *** the late rhenana zone,enhanced hydrothermal activity also seems responsible for the reducing conditions.

Recombinant Neural Protein PrP Can Bind with Both Recombinant and Native Apolipoprotein E In Vitro

By analyzing COSMIC data,Sharma et al.(2010) found more than 50%reduction in electron density during a solar eclipse at the F2-layer and above,with the peak of 0%at 370 *** great eclipse effect on topside ionosphere was very abnormal and much different from previous ***,by comparing the cosmic data with IRI results,we find that the abnormal reduction comes mainly from the significant local time variation at sunrise,not from the eclipse ***,we simulated the eclipse effect by using a theoretical model to confirm our analysis.

The most essential and crucial step during the pathogenesis of transmissible spongiformencephalopathy is the conformational change of cellular prion protein （PrPC） to pathologic isoform (PrPSc).Alot of data revealed that caveolae-like domains （CLDs） in the cell surface were the probable place where theconversion of PrP proteins *** E （ApoE） is an apolipoprotein which is considered toplay an important role in the development of Alzheimer's disease and other neurodegenerative diseases byforming protein complex through binding to the receptor located in the clathrin-coated pits of the cell *** this study,a 914-bp cDNA sequence encoding human ApoE3 was amplified from neuroblastoma cell *** human ApoE isomers were expressed and purified from Escherichia ***-specificantiserum was prepared by immunizing rabbits with the purified ***/His pull-down assay,immunoprecipitation and ELISA revealed that three full-length ApoE isomers interact with the recombinantfull-length PrP protein in *** regions corresponding to protein binding were mapped in the N-terminalsegment of ApoE （amino acid 1-194） and the N-terminal of PrP （amino acid 23-90）.Moreover,the recombinantPrP showed the ability to form a complex with the native ApoE from liver *** data provided directevidence of molecular interaction between ApoE and *** also supplied scientific clues for assessing thesignificance of CLDs on the surface of cellular membrane in the process of conformational conversion fromPrPCto PrPScand probing into the pathogenesis of transmissible spongiform encephalopathy.
