Sea level variations in the South china Sea inferred from satellite gravity,altimetry,and oceanographic data

Sea level variations(SLVs) can be divided into two major components:the steric SLV and the mass-induced *** two components of SLV in the South china Sea(SCS) are studied by using satellite altimetry,GRACE(Gravity Recovery and Climate Experiment) satellite gravity,and oceanographic data on annual and inter-annual *** the annual timescale,the geographic distribution of mass-induced SLV's amplitude jointly estimated from altimetry and the ECCO(Estimation of the Circulation and Climate of the Ocean) model agrees very well with that from *** observes obvious seasonal mass-induced SLV in the SCS with annual amplitude of 2.7±0.4 cm,which is consistent with the annual amplitude of 2.7±0.3 cm estimated from the steric-corrected *** the inter-annual timescales,the mean SLV in the SCS shows a large oscillation,which is mainly caused by the steric *** trend of mean SLV inferred from altimetry in the SCS is 5.5±0.7 mm/yr for the period of 1993-2009,which is significantly higher than the global sea level rise rate of 3.3±0.4 mm/yr in the same *** is no obvious trend signal in the mass-induced SLV detected from GRACE that indicates the water exchange between the SCS and its adjacent seas and land is in balance within the study period.

Effect of sediment resuspension on underwater light field in shallow lakes in the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River:A case study in Longgan Lake and Taihu Lake

Based on three continuous in situ underwater light field measurement under different wind waves conditions in Longgan Lake, Meiliang Bay of Taihu Lake in July 2003 and littoral zone near TLLER in July 2004, respectively, the effects of sediment resuspension caused by wind waves on PAR diffuse attenuation, absorption coefficients and euphotic depths are analyzed. In Longgan Lake, PAR diffuse attenuation coefficients during small, middle and large wind waves were 1.74, 2.02 and 2.45 m-1, respectively, and the corresponding PAR spectral diffuse attenuations ranged from 0.98 to 2.97, 1.34 to 3.95 and 1.80 to 5.40 m-1, respectively. In Meiliang Bay, PAR diffuse attenuation coefficients were 2.63, 3.72, 4.37 m-1 during small, middle and large wind waves. PAR diffuse attenuation coefficients increased by 41% and 66% from small to middle, large wind waves, respectively. Absorption coefficients integrated over the range of PAR of CDOM, phytoplankton were 0.26, 0.28 m-1; 0.76, 0.49 m-1, respectively during middle and large wind waves. Absorption coefficients integrated over the range of PAR of non-algal particulate matter and total suspended particulate matter increased from 0.94 to 1.73 m-1, and from 1.70 to 2.22 m-1, respectively during middle and large wind waves. Relative contributions of absorption coefficients of non-algal particulate matter to total absorption coefficient integrated over the range of PAR were 44.14%, 65.05%, respectively, during middle and large wind waves. PAR euphotic depths decreased by 0.40, 0.19, 0.20 m from middle to large wind waves in Longganhu Lake, Meliang Bay and littoral zone near TLLER. Significant correlations were found between transparency, PAR diffuse attenuation coefficients, euphotic depths and total suspended paniculate matter, wind velocity, wave height. Regional soil moisture simulation for Shaanxi Province using SWAT model validation and trend analysis

The soil moisture in Shaanxi Province,a region with complex topography,is simulated using the distributed hydrological model Soil Water Assessment Tool(SWAT).Comparison and contrast of modeled and observed soil moisture show that the SWAT model can reasonably simulate the long-term trend in soil moisture and the spatiotemporal variability of soil moisture in the *** to NCEP/NCAR and ERA40 reanalysis of soil moisture show that the trend of variability in soil moisture simulated by SWAT is more consistent with the *** model results suggested that high soil moisture in surface soil layers appears in the southern Shaanxi with high vegetation cover,and the Qinling mountainous region with frequent orographic *** deeper soil layers,high soil moisture appears in the river basins and *** regional soil moisture showed a generally decreasing trend on all soil layers from 1951 to 2004,with a stronger and significant decreasing trend in deeper soil layers,especially in the northern parts of the province.

Influence of the earth rotation on the interfacial wave solutions and wave-induced tangential stress in a two-layer fluid system

Interfacial waves and wave-induced tangential stress are studied for geostrophic small amplitude waves of two-layer fluid with a top free surface and a fiat bottom. The solutions were deduced from the general form of linear fluid dynamic equations of two-layer fluid under the f-plane approximation, and wave-induced tangential stress were estimated based on the solutions obtained. As expected, the solutions derived from the present work include as special cases those obtained by Sun et al. （2004. Science in china, Ser. D, 47（12）： 1147-1154） for geostrophic small amplitude surface wave solutions and wave-induced tangential stress if the density of the upper layer is much smaller than that of the lower layer. The results show that the interface and the surface will oscillate synchronously, and the influence of the earth＇s rotation both on the surface wave solutions and the interfacial wave solutions should be considered.

Tectariaceae are a pantropical fern family of about 20 genera, among which 8 are distributed in china. The morphological distinctiveness of the family is widely recognized, yet relatively little systematic research has been conducted on members of Tectariaceae. Phylogenetic analyses of chloroplast DNA sequence data (rbcL; atpB) from 15 species representing all 8 genera in china were carried out under parsimony criteria; Bayesian inference. The phylogenetic reconstructions indicated that the fern family Tectariaceae as traditionally circumscribed are polyphyletic. Ctenitis, Dryopsis, Lastreopsis clustered with; should be included within the newly-defined Dryopteridaceae,; Pleocnemia is also tentatively assigned to it. A narrowly monophyletic Tectariaceae is identified, which includes Ctenitopsis, Hemigramma, Pteridrys, Quercifilix,; Tectaria. In the single rbcL analysis, Arthropteris clustered with the above-mentioned monophyletic Tectariaceae. Although further investigations are still needed to identify infrafamilial relationships within the monophyletic Tectariaceae; to redefine several problematic genera, we propose a working concept here that better reflects the inferred evolutionary history of this group.

BIFURCATION OF THE NORTH EQUATORIAL CURRENT DERIVED FROM ALTIMETRY IN THE PACIFIC OCEAN

The gridded （1/3°＊1/3°） altimetry data from October 1992 through December 2004 were analyzed to study the seasonal and interannual variabilities of the bifurcation of the North Equatorial Current （NEC） at the surface in the western North Pacific Ocean. Calculations show that on annual average the bifurcation occurs at about 13.4°N at the surface. The geostrophic flow derived from Sea Surface Height （SSH） data shows that the southernmost latitude of the NEC bifurcation at the surface is about 12.9°N in June and the northernmost latitude is about 14.1°N in December. Correlation analyses between the bifurcation latitude and the Southern Oscillation Index （SOl） suggest that the bifurcation latitude is highly correlated with the E1 Nino/Southern Oscillation （ENSO） events. During the E1 Nino years the bifurcation of the NEC takes place at higher latitudes and vice versa.

A mixed method for measuring low-frequency acoustic properties of macro-molecular materials is presented. The dynamic mechanical parameters of materials are first measured by using Dynamic Mechanical Thermal Apparatus(DMTA) at low frequen-cies,usually less than 100 Hz; then based on the Principles of Time-Temperature Super-position (TTS),these parameters are extended to the frequency range that acousticians are concerned about,usually from hundreds to thousands of hertz; finally the extended dynamic mechanical parameters are transformed into acoustic parameters with the help of acoustic measurement and inverse analysis. To test the feasibility and accuracy,we measure a kind of rubber sample in DMTA and acquire the basic acoustic parameters of the sample by using this method. While applying the basic parameters to calculating characteristics of the sample in acoustic pipe,a reasonable agreement of sound absorp-tion coefficients is obtained between the calculations and measurements in the acoustic pipe.

Interannual variability of Antarctic Oscillation and its influence on East Asian climate during boreal winter and spring

The interannual variability of Antarctic Oscillation (AAO) and its influence on East Asian climate during both boreal winter and spring are addressed. The results show that the positive AAO anomaly decreases the cold activity over East Asia during both boreal winter and spring. AAO-related barotropic meridional teleconnection from Antarctic to Arctic is found through analysis of mean me- ridional circulations. This meridional teleconnection is remarkable over Eurasia during boreal winter and over the Pacific Ocean during boreal spring. The results also show that zonal mean zonal wind at high latitudes in Southern Hemisphere has well positive correlation with that of Eurasia during boreal winter and has negative correlation with Pacific North American teleconnection (PNA) during boreal spring, which again display the meridional teleconnection. Thus, local meridional teleconnection is a possible linkage for interaction of circulations at mid-high latitudes between both hemispheres.

Structures and physical properties of rigid polyurethane foams with water as the sole blowing agent

Rigid polyurethane foams blown by varying water level were prepared in this study. The structures and physical properties of rigid polyurethane foams blown by water were measured with FT-IR, universal testing machine (Instron3365), scanning electron microscope (SEM) and differential scanning calorimeter (DSC). The results show that polyurea and polybiuret were the typical charac- teristics, and the cream time and gel time were shorter for the fully water blown rigid foams than that for the fully cyclopentane blown foams. The density of foam samples decreased from 45.0 kg/m3 to 27.4 kg/m3 with the increase of water level from 3 pph to 7 pph. Compressive strength exhibited the similar behavior with density. The average cell size of foam samples ranged from 241 μm to 356 μm with the increase of water level from 3 pph to 7 pph, respectively. At the same time, poorer dimen- sional stability was encountered with the increase of average cell size due to fast diffusion rate of CO2 out of the foam. The results of thermal analysis show that the glass transition temperature (Tg) shifted to a higher temperature with the increase of isocyanate level when more water was used as chemical blowing agent.

In this paper we explore the mechanism of the malicious code by giving an attack model of the malicious code, and discuss the critical techniques of implementation and prevention against the malicious code. The remaining problems and emerging trends in this area are also addressed in the paper.
