Species of the genus Streptomyces are major bacteria responsible for producing most natural antibiotics. Streptomyces coelicolor A3(2) and Streptomyces avermitilis were sequenced in 2002 and 2003, respectively. Two-component signal transduction systems (TCSs), consisting of a histidine sensor kinase (SK) and a cognate response regulator (RR), form the most common mechanism of transmembrane signal transduction in prokaryotes. TCSs in S. coelicolor A3(2) have been analyzed in detail. Here, we identify and classify the SK and RR of S. avermitilis and compare the TCSs with those of S. coelicolor A3(2) by computational approaches. Phylogenetic analysis of the cognate SK-RR pairs of the two species indicated that the cognate SK-RR pairs fall into four classes according to the distribution of their orthologs in other organisms. In addition to the cognate SK-RR pairs, some potential partners of non-cognate SK-RR were found, including those of unpaired SK and orphan RR and the cross-talk between different components in either strain. Our study provides new clues for further exploration of the molecular regulation mechanism of streptomycetes with industrial importance.

The electrocatalytic oxidation of dopamine(DA)was studied by electrochemical approaches at a carbon ionic liquid electrode(CILE)modified with the composite film of nafion and L-aspartic acid(NL-CILE).The CILE was fabricated by replacing non-conductive organic binders with a room-temperature hydrophobic ionic liquid,1-butyl-3-methyl-imidazolium *** composite film of NL was used as matrix to adsorb DA and catalyze the oxidation of DA in phosphate buffer solution(PBS).The electrochemical response of DA was investigated at the NL-CILE,the traditional carbon paste electrode(TCPE),CILE and the nafion modified CILE(N-CILE)in 0.1M PBS(pH 7.4),*** results showed the superiority of NL-CILE to N-CILE,CILE and TCPE in terms of provision of higher sensitivity,faster electron transfer and better *** optimum condition,the oxidation peak current was rectilinear with DA concentration range from 0.1μM to 0.1mM,with a detection limit of 0.03μM(S/N=3)by differential pulse *** proposed method was applied to determine DA in samples successfully.

Low power adder circuits, SERF, 10T Ⅰ,10T Ⅱ,10T Ⅲ and a complementary adder (28T) at physical layout level are evaluated. Simulations based on the extracted adder circuit layouts are run to assess how various circuit setups can impact the speed and power consumption. In addition, impacts of output inverters on the circuit performance of modified SERF and 10T adders due to threshold loss problem are also examined. Differences among these adders are addressed and applications of these adders are suggested.

The physiological phenotype of the rice semi-dwarf mutant, sdg, was characterized in details using a pair of near isogenic lines. Neither gibberellin-deficient nor gibberellin-insensitive is characteristic of the sdg phenotype. By analyzing the secretion of α-amylase and the promotion of stem growth caused by exogenous gibberellin (GA), the sdg plant was found to have decreased sensitivity to the GA at the seedling stage. The dwarfism stature of the sdg mutant can be attributed to the shortened internodes. Increase of the cell number rather than lack of elongation in the sdg mutant is responsible for shoot elongation by the treatment of exogenous GA. These results indicate the protein encoded by the wild type gene of sdg may be a regulator for cell elongation.

Bcl-ⅩL is overexpressed in a variety of human tumors and is involved in tumorigenesis and chemoresistance. This study investigated the inhibitory effect of the hairpin Bcl-ⅩL small interfering RNA (siRNA) on the expression of the Bcl-ⅩL gene in the cisplatin (DDP)-resistant human lung adenocarcinoma cell line A549/DDR and the effect of Bcl-ⅩL siRNA on drug sensitization in A549/DDP cells. Bcl-ⅩL siRNA and negative siRNA plasmids were constructed and stably transfected into A549/DDP cells. Reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction and Western blot analysis were used to detect the target gene expression. Spontaneous apoptosis of cells was detected by acridine orange and ethidium bromide staining. Drug sensitivity of the cells to DDP was analyzed with dimethylthiazol-diphenyltetrazolium bromide (MTT) and flow cytometry. Expression levels of Bcl-ⅩL mRNA and protein in siRNA stable transfectants were clearly reduced as compared with negative siRNA transfectants and untreated cells. MTT results indicated that Bcl-ⅩL transfectants had a higher cell inhibition rate than the negative vector or untreated cells after treatment with 0.2-200μg/ml DDP. Flow cytometry revealed increased apoptosis in BcI-XL siRNA cells. After the addition of 20μg/ml DDR siRNA targeting of the Bcl-ⅩL gene specifically down-regulated gene expression in A549/DDP cells, increased spontaneous apoptosis, and sensitized cells to DDP. The results showed that Bcl-ⅩL siRNA contributed to an increase of DDP-induced cell death in non-small-cell lung cancer and sensitized cells to DDP, leading to increased the effectiveness of the drug in treating non-small-cell lung cancer.

A novel operation mode for spaceborne polarimetric SAR,named polarization space-division adding polarization code-division (PSD-PCD) operation mode,is proposed in this paper through combining polarimetric SAR with elevation digital beam-forming (DBF) on *** a pulse repetition interval the up-chirp LFM sub-pulse is transmitted with horizontal polarization antenna,and with some delay the down-chip LFM subpulse is transmitted with vertical polarization antenna to realize code *** every sub-aperture receives returns from ground,SAR system uses range DBF to separate echoes relative to different sub-pulses in order to realize space *** system PRF is equal to that of single-polarization SAR,and elevation DBF help reduce range ambiguity ***,the main system parameters,including PRF,delay between two sub-pulses,radar equation and ambiguity are analyzed and compared with those of single-polarization *** results demonstrate the feasibility and validity of PSD-PCD operation mode.
