Developing sustainable and clean energy sources(e.g.,solar,wind,and tide energy)is essential to achieve the goal of carbon *** to the discontinuous and inco nsistent nature of common clean energy sources,high-performance energy storage technologies are a critical part of achieving this *** zinc metal batteries(AZMBs)with inherent safety,low cost,and competitive performance are regarded as one of the promising candidates for grid-scale energy ***,zinc metal anodes(ZMAs)with irreversible problems of dendrite growth,hydrogen evolution reaction,self-corrosio n,and other side reactions have seriously hindered the development and commercialization of *** increasing number of researchers are focusing on the stability of ZMAs,so assessing the effectiveness of existing research strategies is critical to the development of *** review aims to provide a comprehensive overview of the fundamentals and challenges of *** rch strategies for interfacial modification of ZMAs are systematically *** features of artificial interfacial coating and in-situ interfacial coating of ZMAs are compared and discussed in detail,as well as the effect of modified interfacial ZMA on the full-battery ***,perspectives are provided on the problems and challenges of *** review is expected to offer a constructive reference for the further development and commercialization of AZMBs.

Finite-time composite learning control for nonlinear teleoperation systems under networked time-varying delays

The robust finite-time synchronization control problem is investigated for master-slave networked nonlinear telerobotics systems(NNTSs) in this article. Although there have been some research achievements on finite-time control for the NNTSs, these studies are based on the strong assumptions of communication time delays or can only achieve finite-time bounded convergence even when the external forces are *** and in view of the importance of these issues, a novel robust composite learning adaptive control scheme rendering the finite-time master-slave synchronization is proposed in this paper. In particular, the influence of time delays on finite-time convergence of the system is analyzed by employing the multi-dimension finite-time small-gain framework. Meanwhile, in order to achieve accurate and fast estimation of uncertain parameters of the system, both the online historical and the instantaneous data of the estimation data are explored to derive the new parameter adaptive law under a more realizable interval-excitation(IE) ***, the convergence of the position/force synchronization errors and the adaptive parameter estimation errors is obtained in finite time, and enhanced robustness of the closed-loop system will also be ***, the superior performance of the proposed control algorithms is validated by numerical simulations and hardware experiments.

Study on the two and three-parameter working stability regions of 3.-TZP suspension

We determined the variation tendency of viscosity (η) at various solids load- ing (α) for 3.-TZP suspension as a function of dispersant concentration (Cw) using vis- cosity measurement, measured the diameter of particles as a function of Cw in very dilute suspension using light scattering method, and obtained the surface features of the sedi- ment of suspension with different Cw using SEM. We also discussed the influence of the microstructure of adsorbed polymer layers on particles and their interactions in the dis- persing medium on the stability of suspension. Then two different stable states and two different unstable states for 3.-TZP suspension were given. Accordingly, the (Cw, η), (Cw, α), and (α, η) two-parameter, and (Cw, α, η) three-parameter stability maps were con- structed. Based on the DLVO theory calculations, the dispersant concentration, particle distance (r), and interparticle potential energy (VT) maps with various solids loading for 3.-TZP aqueous suspension were also constructed. In (Cw, r) two-parameter coordinate system, the stable motion region map for particles was established. The Cw, α, and VT,max (the highest potential energy) surface of the potential barrier map was obtained through calculation and simulation on the basis of the surfaces of Cw, r, VT maps introduced above. The (Cw, α) two-parameter stability map was then obtained from the Cw, α, VT,max map. The results showed that this theoretical map can qualitatively prove the experimentally obtained results—the existence of different dispersed states of particles in suspension system and the variation tendency of suspension stability with changing each parame- ter—were reasonable.

Updating verbal and visuospatial working memory: Are the processes parallel?

The current study compared the processes of updating verbal and visuospatial working memory (WM) and examined the roles of central executive and slave systems in working memory updating tasks, by changing the number of items updated simultaneously to manipulate the load on central executive. Ex- periment 1 used the verbal WM updating task, and the results validated the efficiency of the paradigm to manipulate the load on central executive. Experiment 2 employed the verbal WM updating task, with the articulatory suppression task to interfere with the phonological loop. The results supported the study by Morris and Jones, revealing that the central executive system played an important role in the updating component of verbal WM, while the phonological loop was responsible for the serial recall component. Experiment 3.employed the visuospatial WM updating task, with the spatial tapping task to interfere with the visuospatial sketchpad. The results suggested that the visuospatial sketchpad and the central execu- tive together dealt with the updating component, while the visuospatial sketchpad was responsible for the serial recall component by itself. These results are consistent with the findings that visuospatial sketch- pad has close links with central executive, while the phonological loop is separated from the central ex- ecutive. It suggests that updating visuospatial and verbal WM are not two parallel processes.

Surface roughness and removal rate in magnetorheological finishing of a subsurface damage free surface

Based on computer-controlled optical surfacing, a new technique called magnetorheological finishing (MRF), is presented. The new technique combines the features of conventional loose abrasive machining with a wheel shaped polishing tool. The tool incorporates a host of features and has unprecedented fabricating versatility. The pre-polishing and fine polishing processes can be performed only by adjusting different parameters. The material removal function is studied theoretically and the results of simulation present a Gaussian distribution feature. Based on the established theoretical model, material removal rate experiments involving a parabolic mirror are designed and carried out to determine the effect of controllable parameters on size of the gap between the workpiece and the polishing wheel, rotating speed of the polishing wheel, concentration of volume fraction of non-magnetic particles and polishing time. Further experiments are carried out on the surface microstructure of the workpiece, the final surface roughness with an initial value of 10.98 nm reaches 1.22 nm root mean square (RMS) after 20 min of polishing. The subsurface damage experiment and the atomic force microscopy (AFM) measurement on the polished surface can also verify the feasibility of the MRF technique.

A PSTAIRE CDK-like protein localizes in nuclei and cytoplasm of Physarum polycephalum and functions in the mitosis

CDKs play key roles in controlling cell cycle progression in all eukaryotes. In plants, multiple CDKs are present, among which the best characterized CDKs are PSTAIRE CDKs. In this study, we carried out Western blot, immunoelectron microscopy and antibody treatment with an anti-PSTAIRE monoclonal antibody to explore the subcellular localization and functions of PSTAIRE CDKs in Physarum polycephalum. The results of Western blot and immunoelectron microscopy showed that in P. polycephalum, a PSTAIRE CDK-like protein was 3. kD in molecular weight and located in both nuclei and cytoplasm. In nuclei, the protein was mainly associated with chromosomes and nucleoli. The expression of the PSTAIRE CDK-like protein in both the plasmodia and nuclei showed little fluctuation through the whole cell cycle. When treated with an anti-PSTAIRE monoclonal antibody at early S phase, the cells were arrested in S phase, and the mitotic onset of P. polycephalum was blocked for about 1 h when treated at early G2 phase. Analysis on cohesive crack opening displacement considering the strain softening effect

In order to investigate the crack propagation in quasi-brittle materials like rock, ceramic and concrete, Hillerborg and his co-researchers abstracted the fracture process zone in front of a stress free crack in terms of a “fictitious crack zone”. On the fictitious crack zone, cohesive stresses distribute following a given softening relationship of stress vs. crack opening. Based on the polynomial or power series expression of cohesive crack opening displacement, the relationship of the cohesive stress vs. the crack opening displacement is established using elastic theory and integral equation, and some unknown physics variables are obtained using variation approach. The calculation results gained in this paper are close to the experimentally test ones.

Congruences on ideal nil-extension of completely regular semigroups

Let S be an ideal nil-extension of a completely regular semigroup K by a nil semigroup Q with zero. A concept of admissible congruence pairs (δ,ω) of S is introduced, where δ and ω are a congruence on Q and a congruence on K respectively. It is proved that every congruence on S can be uniquely respresented by an admissible congruence pair (δ,ω) of S. Suppose that ρ K denotes the Rees congruence induced by the ideal K of S. Then it is shown that for any congruence σ on S,a mapping Γ:σ|→(σ Q,σ K) is an order-preserving bijection from the set of all congruences on S onto the set of all admissible congruence pairs of S,where σ K is the restriction of σ to K and σ Q=(σ∨ρ K)/ρ K. Moreover,the lattice of congruences of S is also discussed. As a special case,every congruence on completely Archimedean semigroups S is described by an admissible quarterple of S. The following question is asked: Is the lattice of congruences of the completely Archimedean semigroup a semimodular lattice?

Direct CP violation in hadronic B decays

There are different approaches for the hadronic B decay calculations, recently. In this paper, we upgrade three of them, namely factorization, QCD factorization and the perturbative QCD approach based on kT factorization, using new parameters and full wave functions. Although they get similar results for many of the branching ratios, the direct CP asymmetries predicted by them are different, which can be tested by recent experimental measurements of B factories.
